It would, especially how we've put months of work into this. Plus you'd have to think that Ten Hag has already discussed the Chelsea links with him and again recieved the assurances he needs to continue
It’s all smoke and mirrors. Someone posted earlier that FDJ, Barca and us (or ETH) are the only ones who know the truth and I agree.

That being the case, the only truth that makes any sense is that the deal is agreed except for FDJ’s pay off (or deferred wages etc) from Barca which is at stalemate. Hawking him around Chelsea or Bayern is probably not happening but it wouldn’t solve the pay-off issue anyway.

I think this deal will happen but there’s always the fear that Barca will cut their noses off rather than climb down.

You know what, if it’s just about relatively small money given everything we have spent in last ten years and he is so crucial to Ten Hag’s vision, then the club should just make the deal happen. I get we need to show we are not soft touches but de Jong versus Fred or McT - seriously. Just screw Barcelona as far as you can then pay the money get him in and move on. Don’t lose him or waste six more weeks messing about.

Thinking of Frenkie being sad because nasty Ponzi scheme Barca want to give him the boot makes my eyes fill with rain. Lucky for him he’ll be landing in Manchester soon and can bathe in the wall of love coming from our muppet hearts,

I'm leaning towards him signing for Chelsea at this point, but I hope I'm wrong. Just feel like he desperately doesn't want to join us but is close to accepting that he'll have to leave Barca.
What gives you the impression he doesn't want to join us? Because the papers say so? The same papers that said he definitely doesn't want to join Chelsea and his priority if he has to leave is United... before saying he hates United the day after.

I doubt Chelsea will even make a bid, Barca are probably letting it slip to get United to hurry up, for what I have no idea though

I don't really see Chelsea (or anyone else for that mater) moving for De Jong while the deferred wages problem remains unresolved.

Maybe once De Jong and Barcelona come to an agreement, we might see Chelsea and others throw their hats in the ring, but it will probably be late August before that happens.

It was Me who said that and I still maintain that. Only United, Barca and de Jong know the truth of what's going on. We know what the media tell us but that's it. We don't know what's happening behind the scenes, but we have to assume that Ten Hag has assurances that de Jong wants to come.

The Chelsea links probably were real at one point but I don't think they ever went further than an inquiry and I don't think they'll go further in the future. Hell, it was a few days ago that a bid was expected within hours and nothing happened. All the Chelsea journo's have been silent.

Oh it was You, that’s a coincidence. Well we’re in the same place here.

I don’t reckon Chelsea (or Bayern) need FDJ enough to pay more than we’ve agreed. And these reports that he doesn’t want to come to us are bogus, it’s just that bloody deferred salary.

Will be very interesting if he signs for a club that haven’t even bid or had an offer accepted that’s for sure.

I'll just write this post to contribute in making at least 1000 pages! But truth to be told, do we really want this sulking guy in our club?

This leaves me feeling confused, conflicted and scared. I've never condoned a single word the man has said... Is this legit? Why screenshot a tweet as opposed to linking it?
It's easy to edit any txt online. You have to take a screen shot as the edit only lasts whilst stay on the site, the moment you refresh ect.. It reverts.

It's a fun way to tri k the wife into thinking I won 2 million on the lotto, showing her our online bank account at 2'000'001 to prove it :D

Tomorrow we'll find out about a clause in his Barcelona contract where they owe him another few million if he plays multiple games at CB...

Two tour games at CB with a pending first XI CB on the way in Kounde....Frenkie De Bench incoming.

If those Revelo reports are true, he should either be told this week by Xavi to find a new club or may have already happened pre-game.

Pretty clear he's not in the managers plans based on the team selection for their first 2 preseason games

i doubt he actually gets games at CB, and i appreciate its a tour, but you're about to sign a starting CB, you don't give one of your best players any pre-season in his position and is allegedly being asked to find a new club by the manager. I know folks like to talk about him "having all the power with his contract". It's really starting to look like he's a bench option if he digs his heels in. Not his fault by any means, but Barca are quite obviously turning the screw now.

Another clean sheet for Frenkie De CB by the way. He might be the perfect partner to Maguire.

If anyone needed further proof just how coked up Laporta is, he's also telling people that he wants to get Messi back.

One thing to come out of this saga is just how much of a joker Graham Hunter is.

Watching his embarrassing emotional meltdown on talksport in defence of Barcelona, its noticeable that he tries to obscure what Barcelona's position is by denying that they won't pay his deferred wages but saying its a 'regular negotiation'.

It's been reported that they offered 3.5m out of the 17m which means that he's not necessarily lying, just sweeping up for them the fact they want to only pay part over an extended payment schedule.

Isn't there a law in Spain where you can't pay an ex employee less than 50% you paid them before? If that's the case they need to pay him 50 mil a year, ain't happening in my opinion.

What I'm glad about is both Bartomeu and Laporta are actually Madrid undercover agents.
