FDJ has already criticised Xavi for not playing him like LVG does. Xavi's response today is to say he's now a CB. So FDJ sitting on the bench, playing 20 mins every few weeks as a CB....BUT picking up his full wage is FDJ having power?
Yes - because Barca have shown that all they care about is the cash. Everything is in pursuit of that goal and he is an obstacle. My point is that some guys can take the emotion out of it and say hey play me at cb all you want but I still want my cash. Barca know this and that’s why they’re going in hard now.

Think so! This was a good night for us muppets, genuinely think it happens now.
it only just clicked " we want to talk with him and know exactly what he wants. We need to clarify some aspects of his situation”

the first admission of dealing with his demands

Do i see right? Xavi wants Frenkie as a CB?? Is he mad?
I suppose thats one way to ensure that he's out of the club as quick as possible. I really don't think de Jong is going to be happy about that. Still, at least it makes United all the more appealing!

Yep, basically reading between the lines, negotiating his exit. Now the main worry for me is, it better be to us!

"Please feck off or i'll play you at CB when you come off the bench"

It's a direct shot at FDJ's comments about LVG playing him in better positions as well.

Weren't there quotes weeks ago that Frenkie's agent doesn't want to talk anymore, and the club know exactly what he wants?

Of course it will be.
He won't go to Chelsea i imagine, as he'd be competing with others for his spot. Plus if it's just on the CL for this season that he bases a decision on, then thats a bit stupid.
Plus don't you think ten Hag has already discussed the Chelsea links with him? He'll want assurances that if Barca pay him what he's asking, does he definitely want to come to us or is there a chance he'll go there

I think this one will all go down to whether it financially makes sense to pay De Jong what is owed. If De Jong is owed such a big chunk of deferred wages, you might as well pay those over a longer period whilst he remains a big asset for you on the field. Why would you a big him a big proportion of that same money, only for him to be playing elsewhere?

Can't wait until Frenkie officially leaves and El Chiringuito reporting it as if he had been kidnaped by alien.
this comedy show is hilarious. Tic Tac Tic Tac.....
But of course no one in spain takes them seriously.

He's going to be a modern center back whose primary role is to attack and not contribute in defence, which will be taken care of by center forwards like McTominay.

Football club managament speak is politician speak. This seems to be Laporta's first public admission that this is where the saga is, it's about his payout.

He wants his 17m!!!
He is our player, we really like him = „Frenkie, we’re starting to really fancy you as a backup CB if you won’t let go of those 17m“

We received some offers but didn’t accept = „Frenkie, we agreed a deal in principle with Manchester United but will only officially sign off on it once you let go of those 17m“

„as of now“ = „Just nod once you’ve resigned to never seeing those 17m Frenkie and all this will be over swiftly“

We want to talk to him, we want to know what he wants = „Frenkie, its been about an hour since we last asked, you really want those 17m still?“

We need to clarify some aspects of this situation = „Dude, we spent those 17m on Lewandowskis sign-on fee, let it go“

Because his contract for the next few seasons is so big that it destroys their wage structure.
He'd be the top earner by a mile and Barca just can't afford to have that happen. It looks like they want Lewa as their top earner, and with Frenkie there, it can't happen

Being a chief muppet, of course I’d love if we signed FDJ.

But is anyone else concerned that we do get him but he ends up being shit? Ok bit harsh, but let’s say not as good as we expected.

I can’t say I’ve watched him that often at Barca. Watched a lot more of him at Ajax where he was brilliant in some very big games. The game away at Real Madrid really sticks out of him driving them to victory with a masterful CDM performance.

However he appears to have had a very underwhelming couple of years at Barca. Like we’ve seen with Coutinho who looked world class before he left Liverpool, he looks nowhere near what he used to be.

I have more hope in FDJ based on the fact that ETH was the manager who got his besT performances out of him. And truth be told he can’t really be worse than McFred.
I understand what you are saying, but I think this situation is different because we have a manager who knows Frenkie, knows his game and crucially wants to build the team around him. This means that Frenkie will be central to eths philosophy and the team will play to Frenkies strengths.
Don’t forget he is likely to play with Donny again too, and they had a great partnership in Ajax.
The problem with evaluating his form at Barca is he is displaced by Sergio Biscuits, so he is out of position and his game can’t flow naturally. I think once he is here and settled the old magic will flow again.
