So you want him to say he wants to come to us and abandon 17 million in unpaid wages from the last two years?

That‘s mental mate.
No, I don't want him to. But we look like utter mugs at this point, standing around like idiots with limp dicks in our hands.

This has turned into a complete farce.

I have no idea either, yet.

I never even consider the penis metaphors you lot seem to rush to when signing a player. He's not even that good looking.

Surprised no-one posted his highlights from last night. Can see how limited he is back there
I’ve seen Barca fans complain about how many touches he takes before releasing the ball. However, this is one of his strengths in that he’ll often invite a press against him to attract players towards him so he can release a team mate with more space available. For someone who plays in a deep position, he’s a very good dribbler of the ball which is quite unique.

This will speed up considerably when their tour ends I think. They clearly want him gone

Similar to Matic in this regard.

I don’t understand how people one to this conclusion. We look like mugs because we want our priority target to join us and are prepared to wait?

Can't remember seeing a player getting cucked by their own club like this
Imagine Xavi telling him you’re mostly going to play CB if you stay. Crazy. And then ending the conversation with an “oh by the way, we’re signing Kounde too”

Well, it's alright, even if you're told you won’t play
Well, it's alright, they still got millions to pay
Well, it's alright, remember to live and let live
Well, it's alright, the best you can do is forgive
Well, it's alright (alright), come and play for United
Well, it's alright (alright), to stay there would be short-sighted
Well, it's alright, even if the sun don't shine
Well, it's alright (alright), we're going to the end of the line!

Keep in mind that many people have a weird relationship with their ego, anything that can lead to a joke on twitter or that seems a bit arduous is "embarrassing". People are just weird.

A far more realistic comparison would be that our mate has told us that they’ll come out for a drink tonight, so we’ve gone to the pub. Our mate (Frenkie) has gone back home and told his partner who’s said no and now they’re coming to some sort of agreement where they’ll do the washing up or the ironing or whatever and be able to go out.

Meanwhile we’re sat in the pub with Christian, Lisandro and Tyrell and just waiting for him to turn up when he’s sorted it out.

What is United supposed to do? From the looks of it, they have assurances on both the Player and Club side about a deal. Barca have agreed a transfer fee with us and I'm sure Frankie has agreed his wages with us and told ETH he wants to come, but he's probably said he wants to see how much of that 17m he can extract from Barca before leaving. Its obvious he is ETHs number 1 target. How can you say 'walk away' when all the numbers are in place and all that needs to be sorted is between Barca and FDJ (both of who need this deal to go through, its just a matter of who blinks first). Barca need it for their finance restructuring, FDJ needs it because well, he's being dicked around and its also a WC year so definitely doesn't want to take chances in being in a team that doesn't fancy him.

One of the two parties will blink, it isn't in either interest to not!

Very creative ^^ But doesn't it miss the aspect of "us" being a bit in a shitty situation of our mate doesn't show up? Or shows up really late?

I think, a more fitting analogy is this:
You have a damaged roof, as soon as there is rain, your stuff gets wet and you have issues. Right now it is summer, so there is next to no rain so you don't feel the pain of having wet stuff all the time, bringing you to a relaxed state. Rain season is approaching though so you went out to get offers of servicers to fix your roof. There are many services but you've chosen the best. Good offer in terms of fair price for good service, good reputation. The issue is, this servicer can't really confirm your job because it is complicated and he doesn't know if he can make it before rain season.

So what are you going to do? It boils down to the question, how big is the severity of the impact of rain and how much better the 1st choice servicer is compared to 2nd and 3rd. It would be interesting to know, what neutrals say about this situation. I mean, it is clear that Barca are the mugs in our fairy tale. The question is, what is best for our club. I think, it is absolutely reasonable that pure optimism isn't shared all around.

If Barca were being financial conservative, I might be inclined to accept a pay cut, if I was him.

But to take a cut so they can sign even more players, I'd probably dig in my heels too. Last thing they can afford to do is keep everyone on they already have. They really don't have a choice if they want to register the players they've supposedly already aquired.

United need to start talking to players about reducing their salaries too, why not? Few deserve what they're earning.

Whether he ends up here or not. I don’t really like the guy already.

It is purely stubbornness on his part to see if he can make it work there which is understandable for any professional. Barcelona are still riding high on the Messi, Xavi and Iniesta appreciation wave after all.

If that is the case I would never go in for him again. Let him make a bed and lay in it. Would love us to face Barcelona in the coming years and dominate them with him sat on their bench. Ten Hag masterclass.

stubborn man stays quiet to get money owed.

non stubborn man leaves and doesn’t care about a measly 17 million euros.

Looking at their website looks like they are in the US until the end of the month. They play RBNY on the 31st.
Their season begins vs Vallecano on 12/08.
Lets see what next week brings. I can't see Barca wanting this to drag on much longer themselves to be fair.
The longer it lasts, the longer they have to wait for their next signing. I hope we'll see some news next week

I mean, if i was owed €17m, i think i'd want that before leaving! In fact i think anyone in the same situation would want their money!

Only worry is some other team coming in and agreeing to pay the transfer fee and the wages owed? Is it possible?
