Might be getting confused with his brother, Theo, who is one. Don't think Antoine Griezmann ever confirmed that he personally was a United fan but he is a big fan of Beckham.
True, I heard he appeared in Beckface for a party recently.

When I saw this quote lower down the page, I thought it was referring to Nkunku. Them I saw Griezmann :lol::lol:
If we are going to swap Ronaldo for anyone at Athletico Madrid, it should be Felix.
Yes Felix would be much better.

Let's try swapping him for Mbappe too. Maybe we could re-sign Cavani and see if City would swap him for Haaland.

I'm obviously referring to speculation on offering him a 4 year deal previous to the 3 year extension, not the actual deal which was signed.

It was a theoretical example;

I've never claimed that Ronaldo is 38 when he is 37. Or 36 when he is 35.

He will be 39 mid season IF united were to offer him a contract extension (which is what was being discussed) but if you don't think that it's ok to highlight that it's fine.

IMO he poster was factually correct to say that Ronaldo would be 39 in that season (if a contract offer was extended and accepted) due to the dates of the contract and my comprehension of linear time.

I only highlighted the original conversation because the another poster asked why he was saying he would be 39 when I thought it was clear, due to the fact it was in the original post he replied to.
That would be fine, it that had been what he said. "He'll be 39 and it will be poor planning " is what he said. Which was obviously wrong.

Let’s be honest, no sane person would let Felix go to bring Ronaldo in.

Albeit Simeone spent ludicrous sums on Felix and then tried playing him at right back, so maybe they’d fall for it.

Remember how buzzing we all were when the rumours of his return started to circulate last year?

The Rio tweet, the social media frenzy, the unparalleled hype and excitement of the possibility of seeing our boy come home.

Now, less than 12 months later, most of us can't wait to see the back of him and he's hardly done anything wrong

How fickle we are. Isn't football wonderful.

Oh, grow up and stop insulting members that don't agree with your point, as you come across like a child throwing its toys out of the pram when reacting like that, as it makes the site look like it is use by fools who can't offer up a decent argument when nothing could be further from the truth.

You keep banging on and using his child as the reason, are you a psychologist, as do explain how he was able to play out the rest of the season and now suddenly it's an issue ? And I hope posting this link is allowed, as you might want to go through a few pages, as this looks far from a woman suffering depression as you try to make out "that needs a support network".

Has it happened to you or anyone you know?

Did Mendes come to attend this board meeting as well? Otherwise I find it hard to believe it's a coincidence.

Maybe he is going to have a meeting with Ten Hag as so many people were so eager for.

I just hope Sir Alex doesn't say hello to Ronaldo if he passes him in the hallway as that would probably undermine Ten Hag according to some on here.

Most of us knew he'd want out if we didn't get CL football. The reaction to him then wanting out is bizarre, people are so salty.

He needs to put a shift in if he actually stays though but people should actually wait and see before being so dramatic.

Nah this isn’t quite right.

It was fairly clear we weren’t getting CL for quite a while. Even towards the end of the season he was pointing at the badge pointing at the pitch etc.

First, he should have made a second year contingent on us getting CL if it was that important. Second, he should have made it known right at the end of the season we we could all move on failing that.

The fact is he took a triple figure bonus then kicked off after the squad’s 25% wage reduction kicked in.

I know a lot of people have dismissed his ‘personal reasons’ as not valid but I think there might actually be something to it. I’ve heard a few different stories as to what they are but haven’t heard anything fully trustworthy yet.

In my case, the answer is yes, it has.

You can't use this as some kind of ultima ratio against people in this discussion. Frankly, you know feck all about what personal tragedies people on here have suffered, and to casually use this thing at all - in this context - is not on.

If there had been a direct link between Ronaldo wanting out and him losing a child, nobody would have questioned it for one second - and you should know that.

If he was that desperate then he should have put it into his contract. He also should have come back to training on time instead of whoring himself around Europe to no avail.

I never wanted him back and will be more than happy to see the back of him but hes behaved like a dick whatever way you want to look at it. Not surprising given what we know about him though.

I just want to know, why is Mendes at the meeting today if his absence was purely down to 'personal reasons'??

It's obviously not just about personal reasons.

If he needed to go back to Spain - say - for the sake of his partner/his family, he could have prioritized making this clear rather than making it clear that he isn't going back to Sporting.

I am not casually using anything.

People are dismissing it as a possibility, by putting comments in quotations and using instagram posts and The fooking Sun of all things, as though it's some sort of proof that they aren't still being affected by it.

I don't know if it is or isn't a reason. All I am saying is that it could be that it's not just all about him anymore.

They’ve been in there all day? Probably grovelling and crying to get him to stay. Holding onto his ankles trying to stop him walking out the door.

I really hope he holds firm and we are forced to release him or mutually terminate the contract. Let’s move on and find someone more long term.

"He'll be 39 and it will be poor planning "
Definition of he'll
: he will : he shall.

Ronaldo will be 39 years old in the 23/24 season.

Champions league knockouts etc all come after his birthday so it's not an egregious statement.

I'd also say it would be poor planning to loan him out and bring him back but that's subjective.

Besides the person I replied to said

Why the heck are you on about next season though?

He'll be here 1 season more maximum surely.
Because he didn't understand that Chief and another poster was talking about a theoretical situation where Ronaldo gets a one year contract extension after going out on loan for the 22/23 season.

He thought he was saying he would be 39 in 22/23 (without the contact extension)and took umbrage with it.

He felt he would be here for a maximum of one season (22/23) and not next season (23/24) remember?

So he was questioning Chief for the wrong reason, not that Chief was 6 months off, he felt he was 18 months off.

@Chief123 had already clarified it with this..

Erm, it’s not an obsession if it’s a fact. He would be turning 39 in that season.
But the poster didn't get it so I posted Chiefs post that he replied to , to show him where the misunderstanding came from.

That's when you entered with;

Without wanting to point out the obvious, he would still be 38 for two thirds of that season. He doesn't automatically become 39 the moment the season starts like some of you seem to think.
Which nobody at all had claimed up to that point.

Just that Ronaldo will be 39 in the 23/24 season.

Which he will be ("He'll be 39").

I don't know if it is or isn't a reason.
Fair enough - you don't. And neither do I or anyone else here.

So - let's just stop bringing it up.

Bottom line: nobody from Ronaldo's camp has said that he wants away from United because of personal reasons.

So, for us - the fans - the two things are separate:

a) We know he lost a child and we understand (unless we're utter idiots) that this can be extremely traumatic and have a long-term effect.

b) We know that his agent has been working on a move away from United.

Again - the two are separate, as far as we know.

You clearly understood my point and followed the conversation correctly. Yes I was referring to the fact he would be turning 39 in that particular season. It’s normally the way I look at someone’s age in the footballing sense.

@Sandikan gave a smirkish response without even following or understanding the conversation. And then diverted from it with a totally different tangent when he realised he wasn’t following.

For some reason the other dude decided to chime in with correcting anyone who was under the illusion a footballers birthday is on the first day of the season!

I literally couldn’t be bothered responding to the snarky replies but fair play to you for even bothering with them!

I will be disappointed in the club if we loan him out. Just sell him, try to get as close to 30mil for him and invest in a young striker to play backup to Martial. EtH has a clear style of play which requires the entire team to press, if he allows Ronaldo to return and not only get back in the starting lineup but also not press he will lose a lot of my respect for him.

The problem here is not what Ronaldo wants, but that he doesn't have many options available to him. It's all good and well saying you want to leave with 5 teams fighting for your signature but how are we going to sell him when no one wants him.

Or does he just want us to terminate his contract ?
Might be there are a couple of interested clubs if he was on a free transfer, and they're playing that angle.

I just think if everybody played the ball (rather than the man) we could have more worthwhile discussions.

I wasn't even having a go at the first poster, just clarifying the discussion in attempt to find some common ground/ a resolution.

I didn't feel like you were pushing an agenda (it's not like you said he would be 40) just making a factual statement which seems to be perceived as an attempt to make Ronaldo older than he is/will be.

I literally don't care if Ronaldo stays/ goes or retires I was just interested in resolving the initial misunderstanding.

No club wants him, no way with his wages we get such a big fee, completely impossible.
