Our CBs are 20 yards deeper than they have been all pre-season, we have no control, there are gaps between the lines, we’re pressing in isolation with zero intensity and aren’t sustaining attacks as a result. The only threat is give the ball to Garnacho and have him do some individual magic. It’s last season again. What’s changed?

Team has been poor collectively but individually Martinez looks very composed, Garner has tried to put himself about and Garnacho looks a fecking star once he sorts out his decision making.

Fav moment of the half was Chong putting his arm out for Ronaldo to run and press and Ronaldo just staring at him like that’s not we do here. Top stuff.
Agreed. Pretty much last season again.

Amad on, you would assume for Chong. Hopefully he actually performs because he's been woeful in pre-season frankly

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Experts opinions are divided. I tend to agree with Mickeza, it's just direct football without much structure. This is not ETH ball for sure.
I’m not sure how anyone can watch our first half yesterday and this first half and think they’re anything alike. We have zero intensity and are playing in a low-mid block with our CF playing in his own half. For the record I love ETH and totally back the calls to give him the tools to make sexy ETH ball! This isn’t it though.

Not keen on Garnacho going on loan. I want us to have the same kind of balls that (shudder) Barcelona did giving Gavi and Pedri first-team minutes at 17, or Madrid did with Vinicius at 17. I have no reservations about what Sir Alex would have done with a guy like Garnacho. None whatsoever. Let him make a name for himself.
Late years SAF would probably send him on loan tbf

He has poor technique, when you can't shoot, pass or dribble properly or with any regularity, you have poor technique. If that 22 years old player was playing for anyone but United, you wouldn't try to bamboozle people into thinking otherwise.
Seems he could last season from all accounts, I think perhaps he's just not suited to a massive club, or our style of football, or something. SAF said it in his books that sometimes you just aren't the right club to bring out the best in someone, or something to that effect.

Amad on, Ronaldo off, it seems.

We absolutely should not send him on loan. He is already ready to start for our first team, we need him here.

Why is this match even being played right now? Surely they knew well in advance it was the conclusion of the Women's Euros this evening and once England got to the final, why not move the kick-off to 1.30 or 2.00pm at the very least? That would allow most people who attend time to get home or to a TV for the big game at 5, possibly the first time England lift a cup since 1966.

Man Utd. were a bit slow to even have a woman's team, to be honest and the fact this game will still be in progress when the lionesses kick-off is pretty disrespectful. I bet it has something to do with MUTV and international contractual agreements and £££s. But at the end of the day it looks bad: not only do Man Utd. have the most arrogant player in world football, but they even consider themselves to be more important than England's women.

Step aside 'King' and let the Queens have the limelight for once, its obvious this Euros timetable was organised years ago to end today, to fit in with the early start to the Premier League (because of Qatar). Surely United could have shown a bit of foresight and co-ordinated their pre-season around that. It's a PR own-goal and shows Man Utd. to be out of touch with the mood of the nation.

Anyway, I'm closing this down now and putting BBC1 on - good luck to Man Utd. in the second half, but I will read about it later - I really think they have messed up today, by kicking this friendly game off at the wrong time.

Haha, Amad for CR7, this is going to be an awesome 2nd half down that right hand side.

And that's fine, personally I can see and enjoy what I perceive to be a game plan and system that the team is trying to reproduce. Unfortunately a lot of that has broken down today because of individual mistakes and lack of ability.

Chong was a liability, garnacho showed good pace and skill.

Donny had a good half.

Martinez and Varane look solid together

I swear you guys watch a different game. Laird has been fab
Yeah so fab that all of there attacks have come down his side. I lost count of the number of times balls came in from his side. He's also been poor in his use of the ball in our half, although Varane is partly to blame for some of it.

We should be smacking these, pre-season friendly or not and why would you play someone that's leaving anyways?

Amad replaces Ronaldo. I'd assume that was planned in advance. Ronaldo hasn't had any significant time training with the squad and will be miles behind the rest in fitness.
