Fofana has replaced 'Professional Player at Leicester City' with just 'Professional Player' on his twitter bio. He's also been liking posts from Chelsea fan accounts saying how great a signing he would be for us.
Which is amusing as it actually highlights how unprofessional he actually is!

Fofana would be a good signing for them. If Maguire cost £80m odd, Fofana should be at least £100m!

think it will be for £80-90m

they don’t let players go cheap
Yep think that's spot on. There were reports that we were something like £25m away from their valuation, but word is Leicester might be interested in some of our players as makeweights (chiefly RLC apparently).

It's funny when you think about it. Guehi, Tomori, Livremento, Lamptey all would have given them some brilliant options and now they are struggling to get someone in.

On their books they still have Broja, Ziyech, Hudson Odoi and Pulisic. What they have by the end of the window is anyone's guess.
You may be right. Only thing comfortable for us now is we are actively in market to improve our squad. So why I am not much bothered about our team as of now.

Once window closes we might look completely different outfit than last season. With upgrade in defense with able full back covers letting unwanted players go and trimmed squad with tuchel preferred players all over the pitch i assume.

We are talking with Brighton about cucurella after personal terms agreed we also looking for Dumfries or Kevin Peter walkers for RWB cover. Fofana for cb position also on the cards. We are not want to fight for top 4 but going for title.

It’s kind of annoying, and if we lose Colwill to Leicester or Brighton, we know it just takes one good PL season for his valuation to shoot up to £50-60m. We’re targeting Gvardiol and Fofana, both of whom I rate very highly, but they’re just Colwill with a bit more experience at the top level. I said it about Guehi when he sold and the same applies to Colwill too if we sell him - he’ll end up at a CL club about 2 years after he leaves for huge money.

Where will Cucerella play? He plays in the exact same position Chilwell's best at. Bit of a bizzare signing, but since he's not going to City I thank Chelsea for doing the rest of the league a solid.

I think Tammy is another too with Gilmour another who will possibly move on although not fully sure how good he can turn out.

I’ll be honest I don’t think Chelsea have operated particularly well in recent years in terms of recruitment. Had some really poor big money windows and have failed to nurture and bring through some very talented players. They seem to be fantastic at producing them but quite awful at integrating them.

I think that would be smart as you definitely need to find some ways of culling a few bits of deadwood.

£50m on Cucerella and £80-90m on Fofana, on top of what you’ve spent on Sterling and Koulibaly would be a monster window.

I hate to put it this way, but the odds of Chilwell staying fit for a season seems ….. low to me. And yes, Cucu has played lcb in a back 3 comfortably. I doubt they had never considered him prior to this; you just have a situation you missed on a set of targets to structure the team and are now going deeper on the list.

Many think Cucu would be an upgrade on Chilwell even if healthy, Emerson has apparently annoyed the staff with his play.

SO, you could possibly upgrade lwb and/or provide cover for the back 3 setup all in one signing, in a way that would give quality either direction.

If they are blindly throwing darts at a board, then they got really lucky.

I’ll believe it when it actually happens though.

He can also play LCB in a back 3 at a very high level - and given how high we usually have our wingbacks, our wide CBs more often than not are where fullbacks normally would be.

Think the priority for Chelsea clearly now though is to have proper cover for our wingbacks, given the extent to which our season was disrupted by losing them. Having Cucurella as the first backup behind both Chilwell and Koulibaly at LCB would be lovely - especially as this year is going to be a clusterfeck thanks to the World Cup. This also allows us to manage Silva's minutes this year and going forward - as Koulibaly can play as the CCB at a very high level.

Dumfries also seems to be picking up steam - another intriguing option to give us similar flexibility on the right side of defense.

Agreed that it would be a big improvement over last year, but as you and others have rightly pointed out the extent to which it was needed has in large part been down to squad mismanagement. Also entirely fair to say there would be big questions over our attacking options - but I do also think that we were hugely hampered by our wingback injuries last year and if that's addressed the outlook should be rosier.

Kyke Walker-Peters too!

I genuinely don’t think Boehly has a clue what he’s doing. It could all work out fine of course but it’s very reactive as opposed to proactive and it feels like these targets are being drawn up randomly rather than with any actual thought or planning.

Wild one for you guys though so the transfer muppets will be loving it!

Left cb in a back 3. He played there for nearly half the ladt season for Brighton.
He seemed to do fine there in a pinch last spring for Brighton but I'd be wary about planning for that to be his primary position. He has played 222 professional matches and only 10 of them as a CB, per Transfermarkt. He is also 5'7 which matters less in a three but definitely not the ideal physical profile.

Realistically, most players who have ACL surgery don't get back to their best until 12-18 months after the surgery. They may get on the field much earlier like Chilwell but it takes time to regain confidence in your body as well as fitness and form after such a long layoff. I think that is the primary issue.

Agree with this.

Carney Chukwuemeka signed. Out of nowhere

Shows how quiet some of our business is...

Could turn out to be a brilliant signing.

I wonder what assurances Tuchel has given him about minutes. That was a primary concern for him at Villa.

Looks a good prospect and part of the plan to strengthen the midfield in the future. Good signing.

Would end the De Jong rumours I imagine.

This lad signed now with a view to loan him this season I’d imagine. Then he returns next summer when we’ll target Rice.

That’ll be our midfield sorted for the long term ideally.

Trying to buy Zak Sturge too. Slolina looks a done deal. Nice to see.
