Both statements can be true.

Club say the players can leave at half time (if they wish to) so in doing so they broke no rules. ETH however would expect them to stay and support the team in any scenario.

Nah that's nonsense. The manager is in charge of the players. If he expects them to stay then they should stay. Who do you refer to when you say "club"?

He’s talking to Dutch media.
And? When he's speaking to the team, can he speak in English?
Saying something to the Dutch media is nice and all, but what did he tell the team?
There are 7 or so players who might feel a bit of whiplash.

Dalot left with Ronaldo too no? He should be careful following him around like a pet.

Feels good to have a manager who doesn't tolerate his antics. He's no longer good enough to be worth this circus.

OT crowd will continue to suck him off though so all good, some people just have no self respect. Getting dicked around by egomaniac that couldn’t care less about this club and still cheering him loudly.
Yep, have you seen his fans defending him and excusing his behavior for just about everything!

So ETH has exposed Ronaldo, the rest of idiots who left with him, the United Stand and the sheeps pretending everything is always fine, all in one hit. Brilliant.

Ronaldo and company will know that Ten Hag should have the final say, and if he said no or even wasn’t asked it’s a lack of respect for the coach. It’s like as a kid asking your mum because your dad said no.

From what I've heard, he carries a whiteboard around with him everywhere and communicates in a Pictionary-like style.

Delighted that we've finally got a manager with a bit of backbone and strong ethics.

The team comes before everyone. Ronaldo is a petulant child and needs someone to put him in his place publicly.

The quotes if true actually make it more annoying how there are people who are not only defending him but actually going at anyone trying to hold him accountable. When you defend a narcissist like a saint it's only a matter of time they do something to make you look stupid.

Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, David De Gea and Bruno Fernandes also all left early by the way.

Tells you it's more of a cultural thing that a Ronaldo thing but, hey, the narrative.

You guys are over-analysing this to hell. I can almost guarantee Ronaldo was only going to play 45mins regardless. Even ETH himself said that he didn’t think he was as up to speed as the others and wasn’t sure how long he could last days before the game.
@MrEleson you've had a shocker throughout this.

It’s likely that under previous management, senior players were given privileges, so to speak (and perhaps Dalot shared them as Ronaldo’s buddy).

It's funny because "Gaz from Twitter" that people mocked here after posting the pictures turned out to be more reliable than Shitbridge and his friends. Literally anyone is more realiable than him.

There is a brigade on here who act as the civil police whenever anyone raises the slightest of doubt that, things are actually not right, or not changed despite what the club briefs. Sheep is probably a fitting description for that lot.

The circus if he stays will be a massive season long sideshow and distraction won't it...

It's so clear now this guy was the biggest toxic presence in the dressing room last season and from @simonhch words, it was far worse than anyone here pictured.

Genuinely in stitches

So, now his story is that Ronnie wants to stay - but United "privately" want him out?

How feckin' stupid does this twat think people are?

(Then again, I suppose at this point he can post whatever he likes - he'll still get the clicks, which is all he cares about.)

That's why I asked about his English....it seems a bit hard to believe that he ordered the team to stay for the entire game and 25% of the team still left. That is the theory of this, right?

Goldbridge in the mud!
The club actually said it's "not unusual for players to leave early". I think more is being made out of this because it's Ronaldo, but he wasn't the only one the other day and clearly this used to happen under previous managers.

I have no issue with EtH outlining what he expects for his new culture. Completely agree that everyone should stay until the end and when the manager has debriefed.

There is a army of fans that believe anything Goldbridge says. They will back him to the hill, just the way he is with Ronaldo.

Yeah we saw that last season with he who shall not be named. Club tells Lingard he can have time off if he needs it, coach says player wasn't available, player kicks off.

Worrying for the suits and the coach to seemingly be on different pages. Even now.

Uh, no, the "theory" would be that he assumed it would be obvious to the players that you don't leave in the middle of a game, and when some of them did it anyway, he called them out for it.

I mean, to be fair, we had Pogba last season. It's very hard to say that Ronaldo was more toxic than Pogba. Not justifying Ronaldo in any way but I wouldn't want Pogba to lose his crown as king of the douches.
