I am obviously in a minority... but I don't think he's a bad signing.

Our midfield is awful... and at least he can take the ball on the half turn and play a pass.

I always thought he looked a pretty good midfielder in the making when he was young. This could be a good signing if we can get him to fulfill some of his early promise.

wary of all the reports of him being a egotist, although the French posters seem to be saying it’s primarily his mum not him.
Can you name a player that has fulfilled his promise while playing for Manchester United in the past 10 years? Hoping this guy will magically get better after joining us is a fantasy to me.

Juve get Pogba from us on a free (again) and now we're giving them money for Rabiot

We're just the gift that keep giving

Personally I'm ecstatic about this if it mean McT doesn't start for us again.

I'm a Rabiot fanboy y'all

I'm starting to think people don't realise that McFred are still decent players and a lot better than many other midfielders out there. They aren't going to win you the Premier League, in all likelihood, and they may not even be good enough for top four. But yes, they are better than a lot of other players. Rabiot is, in my opinion, a downgrade based on everything I'm looking at, when it comes to both stats and Juventus fan opinions.
They are crap. Watched them in our midfield for years now and the odd half decent performance won’t change anything. Fred has a better chance of still getting games further up but they are shocking. It’s like playing 4-0-4 with them as a pair. No wonder our defence is so exposed.

Think Ten Hag pushes for any midfielder after this

McFred been awful today
Called it yesterday. Worst midfield performance i've ever seen for United, Ten Hag will accept anyone after seeing those two clowns playing in a real match.

everclear is a cool band. yeah they still exist.
What are you on about?
Also he is a completely different player to Pogba
I assume he would get at least 200k per week? Probably more, considering it's his last big contract. We would then have another very average high earner. About the Pogba comparison, I thought they were both physical b2b with good technique. That's all I meant.

I'm not turning cartwheels over this but it's pleasing to find out that the people at United know there are more midfielders in world football than FDJ, McTominay and Fred.

You see that's the thing, statistically Rabiot doesn't lose the ball a lot. For example in the same league would you say that Bennacer loses the ball a lot? In terms of pass completion percentage his career stats are better than Fabian Ruiz's, last year was an uncharacteristic down year since he has never been below 89% in the league and it was at 83% in 21/22 while his possession losses are around 2.5 per 90 across his career which isn't a lot, it's about average.
I'll take a closer look at stats later to compare. My comments so far are mainly from what I've seen of him over the years. If your comments were from his PSG days I think they'd be fairer. I'm assuming his pass completion % stats across his career are higher than Bennacer for you to mention him. Not all that surprising considering how much PSG dominate possession tbh but maybe it's the same at Juve. My instinct from watching them all play is that despite his pass % potentially being higher, I expect his progressive passing numbers will be significantly lower than either Bennacer or Ruiz, which interests me a lot more. Fred has had seasons hovering around 90% pass accuracy but most of those passes were side to side or backwards.

Prob press twaddle, but said the other day. this window with deJOng reminds me of the Thiago one under Moyes.....and we ended up failing to sign him and bringing in Fellaini.

Deal for DeJOng should have been done weeks ago, fact is wasnt we should have moved on, missed out on several good possibilities already and will end up scraping the barrel.

COnsidering the contracts ending and money saved, the dross still in this squad should have been moved out weeks ago and the need to bring in 6 minimum TOP signings this summer.

As fans we really should be turning against the club now, simply unacceptabl the shite football and reqcruitment we saeem to be getting served up

You, in my eyes absolutely rightfully, identified the lack of mentality in your squad as the main problem and now you want to buy Adrien Rabiot and Marko Arnautovic? Is there a joke i don't get?

Can't spell Mkhitaryan
Being slightly better than McFred shouldn't be the benchmark. We're going to be moaning soon about his slightly less embarrassing control of the midfield.

If he's a EtH signing then it could come back and bite him on the arse!

He's not better than Fred and I would rather give Garner or Zidane a chance or just play Donny than get Rabiot and play him. Its shit.

True but they don't actually want to fork out money for a good one.

Maybe wishful thinking but not only do I think this is going to be additional to De Jong to also I don’t think it will impact any other planned business.

It’s most likely the this is a player we knew was available but had no plans to sign a second midfielder. Then ETH saw how poor our midfield really is yesterday and made the call.

It is a panic signing? Absolutely. Is it a needed signing? Yes.

If this is at the expense be De Jong or an alternative though it’s time for pitchforks.

I hope United have leant not to tie him down to a huge contract...stop gap buys are fine in theory but don't give him a 3 year deal on shitloads please.

Ok, guess this is all but done then. I'll get behind him and hope he can show more of what he did in his PSG days. Not sure if this means we're not signing another cm or if we'll get another in addition to him. If it's the latter I don't mind this deal that much. If it's the former it's hard to pretend I'm not disappointed.
