the only thing that doesn't make sense to me is his willing desire to still play for them. Could you imagine if we treated a player like that.

fecking scumbags barca made them sign this deferred wages deal, and stuck a loophole in so they don't have to pay
It starts to make more sense if you believe that Chelsea haven't bid. That would leave his options as:

1. Play for a club that are pushing you out, BUT are hellbent on and appear to be making significant footballing progress toward challenging for the big titles, are your dream club being coached by one of the greatest players of all time in your position, AND ultimately still have to pay your salary or risk costly lawsuits.

2. Play for a club that has become a cautionary tale of poor management. A club that showed no passion and was played off the park at home by Brighton and Hove Albion on the opening day of the season. A club that is now being linked with Arnautovic and Rabiot. A club that has been on a downward trend for the past 10 years, and is not taking the diagnosed steps to rectify the situation. A club that will probably (check out any sports prediction model) not be in the Champions League next year. All because he is overjoyed at joining up with one of his former managers, who may not even be here in six months.

Put yourself in his shoes, what would you choose? Look, despite everything that we (rightly) say about Barcelona, and despite the fact that they are effectively insolvent, they still managed to secure some of the most sought after players in world football while facing strong competition. Players want to play there. Frenkie will be aware of our shambolic start to the season, and our panicked attempts to buy players that range from terrible to mediocre.

Excuse my directness, but I am completely disheartened by what has been done to this club and what it represented. In my eyes, de Jong coming would qualify as some sort of miracle, and even then we'd manage to mess it up. This club doesn't need players, it needs a drastic change in organizational culture.

Still, I hope we sign him.

Have people noticed that all BS is being treated as real news? To call all this "Muppet world" is incorrect. Right now this thread is more like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

Glad La Liga is putting down their foot and ignoring the club power.

"COPE" amuses me every time it comes up when it's talking about this shambles. Like a big "deal with it" meme just to rub salt into any wounds they can find.

If the agents are admitting the contracts are invalid, that would mean they can claim that they should be paid all their unpaid wages per their old contract. It would also come into a tax fraud debate, as their income and income tax would have been impacted. This is a can of worms that could grown arms and legs and fall down Laporte's throat.

@sewey89 man, you’re flip flopping like a fish out of water. Pick a side and get off the fence lad. He will come, have some faith and confidence!
Ive had a wobble but Mitten’s one line has brought me right back in. Full steam ahead. Ride or die

But if his new contract is invalid, then dont they just owe him money missed the last 2 years that he lowered the wage?

Barcelona are a truly despicable club aren't they? Hopefully sensible top players are taking notes. I hope even if De Jong decides to leave, he waits until deadline for La Liga players registration to elapse before deciding to. Let them burn and get the hell outta there. Good luck playing Raphinha, Lewandowski, Christensen and Kounde in Barca B you fecking cvnts.

Don't La Liga traditionally hate Barca? Surprised Barca actually thought they'd whistle to their hilariously dumb tune.

They are saying he owes them money now, because I guess he was earning a higher wage than he was legally entitled to? I don’t know even know anymore. Barca are an absolute basket case of a club and nothing about what they’re doing this summer makes any sense.

I really want to see Barca struggle. Their fans are such pricks. Any way we get Frenkie and they’re still fecked ?
