That's absolutely ludicrous, why spread such lies?

Frenkie, Xavi & Laporta went for a pleasant meal, and discussions went well. However, as the evening came to a close, the entire waiting staff came to the table singing and dancing and presented Frenkie with a piece of cake, accompanied by sparklers and a message which read "Salir, Frenkie!".
They left him to foot the bill an’ all

It’s even more bizarre the Barcelona fans buy into Barca’s BS. They are booing Braithwaite because he wants to be paid what his contract says.
Yup i find it shocking. It's not the players fault that barca are in the crap they currently experience

I suppose that they have to make the directors and president look good though, if they want to be reelected again. Spin everything so it looks like they're doing their best, but the players are making life difficult

Have to say that the journos on this saga should all hang their heads in shame. Just one massive mess and mostly constradictory stories.

What could we possibly agree with the agent which doesn't involve the player agreeing? We have an agreement for the agent to mow the grass at old trafford?
You can have the agreement over the agents proposed financials. But that doesn't necessarily mean a yes from the player as Chelsea has found out this summer

My guess is, theres really nothing to report, so they're using recycled news and opinion. Or Barca are pushing stories out to try and force Frenkie to do something.

Either way, it's an absolute mess

Sports journalism is perhaps the only form of journalism where verification of facts isn’t necessary. Half of them are dimwits looking for clout and fame.

Us agreeing personal terms is new news isn’t it? Can’t remember seeing it anywhere else?

Tuchel just word for word said we play the way we do because our core of of our best technical players are mostly older in a back 3 with two 6’s play ok g in front of them. Jorgihno had little to no recovery ability or creative ability going forward, so instead of alternating going forward, Kante ends up being the main link up for our attack….

Mostly younger players and players that don’t get as much field time (Cucurella, pulisic, rlc, kova, chalobah, etc) played a friendly behind closed doors against Fulham and won 5-0. Maybe not the best competition, but the point being Tuchels system isn’t “designed” to avoid attacking. It is a product of how we have to play.

Put De Jong AND Fofana in there and you could even get away with pairing De Jong with Kova, or even a Gallagher in more attacking setups.

We are going to make a run if he’s willing. BUT that is still a big question mark. I believe stuff related to Barca when I actually see it happen. Even the most credible sources happily spread lies for them when it suits Barcas desire to change how people see a story. They have massive internal pull.

At this point I'd not even say it's because they have a massive pull (although they do) but rather because they are the only people actively using "leaks" to spread their agenda. If United and FDJ did the same it would probably get a lot of clicks too, but there's no reason for either to really do so (other than FDJ saying he wants to stay).

United minus the Glazers
Basically we’re FDJ’s last resort in his contingency plan if the contract situation goes pear shaped and he needs a new club

Great, now how about with the player?
I think he meant United have a deal with the club (been this way for a while now) NOT with the player. He said it so casually I think he misspoke. I hope i'm wrong though!

Horrible watching his face drop after initially smiling. Humans can really be the worst
Yep... Bunch of fecking wankers.
These lads are human beings. This is disgusting.
I know he's a millionaire and blah blah etc - but this must be awful to experience - really not nice
What’s even worse is other players in the squad probably don’t say a thing about it publicly. Ive not see any player come out and defend the players being alienated from the squad. It’s sad to see. It’s like watching bullying in school and no one doing anything to help.

I am petty, but I am going to be obsessed with him and Chelsea failing, if he joins them.

Because if they did that, they would probably face bullying from their employers, too. This is what Barcelona has come to at this point, I'd say.

there was a poster here saying we should boo every player we deem not good enough every time they touch the ball until they leave.
It was the same poster who said it was a disgrace for anyone to Boo Maguire last season.

This is definitely on.

The Chelsea rumors were just a smoke screen by Barcelona. Chelsea has spent $205.25m this window (according to transfermarkt) while still pursuing another CB. This puts them up with one of the highest spending ever in the history of football in one window. Signing another CB and De Jong would be a $350m+ outlay for one summer.

Well of course the stories are contradictory. What the journalists trying to do is akin to commentating on a poker game they can't see when all the players can hear them. They're only getting what they're being fed from the players, who are looking out for themselves.

It's fairly obvious why Barca keeps coming out with statements about not wanting to sell De Jong (to induce United to panic and up their bid), De Jong says he won't leave or reduce his wages (to induce Barca to pay him his back wages), and why De Jong wouldn't publicly indicate his preference for one buying club over the other (so he can make them bid against each other to get a higher wage).

If Barca truly need to sell, all United can really do is commit to their initial bid, because if they lower it and walk away another big club will likely swoop in and Barca/Frenkie might feel forced to accept it. There's a soft deadline before Barca's first match this weekend, for which they will have their new signings registered, and a hard deadline at the end of the month, which is the la liga registration deadline.

There's no guarantee United will get De Jong but this is one of the few opportunities United have to get a world class player from a top club for less than £100 million. They'd be stupid to take themselves out of the running because the fans are impatient.
