Don’t agree with the notion that the agent doesn’t care where he goes. By all accounts Frenkie and Ali are very close. Frenkie said that people say he’s his “third son”. They’ve been together a long time and he obviously cares about what’s best for him.
We're also a very lucrative client for him, so there's that. I'm not digging out the reports to prove this, but there were a few articles last week (?) saying Barcelona, us and his agent believed we could make a deal happen. Nothing to see here.

Meh. Like you keep saying anyway, these sky reporters are just peddling unverified information. Probably bollocks anyway.
I don't really believe anything that happens until credible people say it's happening.

Hence why i go back to the Orny news, he's deemed credible, and he says no preference on clubs if leaving, no Chelsea bid just interest (not sure on talks), so not much change. Jacobs is just mirroring old Ornstein/The Athletic news (Relationship with ten Hag is nothing special etc - was said ages ago)

That’s a bit of a leap. Not sure how you can basically say it means that  think there would be a hell of a lot more noise if that was the case.
It’s a leap alright. Can’t a muppet dream?

What makes you think Jacobs is just rewording other people's work and not hearing it directly from the same sources?

Just a throwaway comment on Sky, not sure I believe it. There would be loads of articles and reports about such a major development #muppetlogic
Just as Jacobs and the sorts are. Only credible stuff atm is Ornstein. Everything said is just pure guesswork/speculation and people looking to throw shit at the wall until something sticks.

Nothing has changed from weeks ago. If the agreement with his agent is true, i'd expect to see stuff soon. If it's not, then no one will report it.

Aaaah yes, so anything positive is bs, but negative is gospel.

Even Chelsea supporters don't really see Jacobs as anything other than Tier 2/2.5.

Would there be so much attention, tweets and media fuss over the whole FDJ thing if United were not involved?

No. Equally, if there were other clubs interested, there would be more fuss made. Logically the more clubs that are interested, the more tweets there will be.

I wonder what crap will come out later. It's usually 1 positive tweet followed by 10 negative.

I wonder if thats why Chelsea were waiting to see if things broke down with United? They're still just interested but not making a bid at the moment as per Ornstein... unless you want to believe Ben Jacobs, but not sure how he's more reliable than Orny?
So, from everything I can see there has never been anything to break down. They were very specific in saying De Jong had to give a green light to even leaving Barca and considering moving before we would even bid officially.

I can find nothing that implies FDJ ever agreed to terms for leaving Barca and joining United. Frankly (pun intended) I think there are a lot of angry people at United who may feel misled by Ten Hag.

The first half of this thread every other post contained the phrase “he MUST know something to be this confident”

But what if Ten Hag would genuinely rather mislead the board and risk missing out on other targets for even a chance at De Jong and he was stubborn enough to think he could will it into existence?

Maybe to Ten Hag there is no great difference between a Tielmans and a Rabiot if he can’t have De Jong.

We so needed a summer World Cup so we didn’t have to be occupied with this transfer shit show.

must be nice for chelsea fans to go from Roman, who threw money around like it was confetti, to a new owner in Boehly who doesn't appear to be afraid to throw out big money this summer either

meanwhile we cant fuking buy a CM or two, and an attacker to save our miserable lives
He is now, just after a takeover but he is a finance guy…the consortium are an investment company, sooner or later they will want to see some return on that investment They’re not Chelsea fans, or real football fans (unlike Abramovich).

If they can win some early trophies it will free them up to start extracting money in 5 years time

Did Ornstein say Chelsea are now pushing and it will be resolved in 48 hours? Pretty sure Jacobs beat Ornstein to Chelsea's interest, but I may be wrong.
I think he said it will become clearer in 48 hours. Not resolved to be fair.

I’m fairly sure that’s just down to there being some sort of deadline on the 13th and him putting 2+2 together.

Should we trusting Ben Jacobs with his line around Frenkie wanting to join Chelsea over United ?

No. Just that we are prepared to match their price and something with the wages owed which i cant remember; but only once FDJ gives a hint he will move. I think the first outlet of all to reveal our interest was Relevo in Spain. Ornstein confirmed it, then Matt Law and others have followed.

Ben Jacobs is not a good source. He will say anything to piss United fans off.

Chelsea are two steps behind us. No fee agreed with Barcalona, no terms agreed with player.

Both agreed with United. Player still wants to stay and his preference.

The entire world expects it to be resolved before the 13th.

Memphis patting him on the shoulder: “Don’t worry mate, we’re in the same shit as each other. This time next year, we’ll be millionaires Rodney!”
Braithwaite: But Pique agreed salary cut
Memphis: what a plonker

Just using your logic. No matter how flawed.
But the general thing here is "It's it's positive, it's BS regardless, but if it's negative, it's absolute truth"

Why are people who are so convinced it's not going to happen sticking around to wind people up? I just don't get it?

No one knows whats going to happen. Jacobs included. He's just looking at all the info available and putting 2+2 together.

I'm pretty sure absolutely no one aside from those involved in the transfer know whats going on. Until it's resolved one way or another, it's just speculation and opinion

If this is true and we have agreed terms with the player/agent after agreeing a fee with Barca, then it genuinely is us or Barca.

There's stringing us along and then theres agreeing to a deal and not signing it

Even the most hardened muppets faulter sometimes. It's the way of muppet life. We all lose track of the path every so often
In my defence, I had the most horrific day at work on Monday, after coming back from a week of holiday. I was in a foul mood

I highly doubt Ten Hag misled the board.

But its very possible that FDJ and his agent were strategically ambiguous in whatever talks they had with ETH and that people at United read into that what they wanted to see.

Given FDJ's situation, it would have been idiotic to give United a flat no from the beginning. You want to keep your options open and you want leverage in any negotiations/dealings with Barcelona over a contract restructuring that might occur. Even if you want to stay at Barca and have little intention of going to United even if you did leave, the smart thing to say would have been something along the lines of "If you are offering the right terms, its an interesting option, let's keep talking over the summer and see what happens."

This kind of stuff happens all the time in the transfer market. You are led to believe you have a chance at a player when they really want leverage in a contract negotiation or they are just trying to play for time while working on another deal. A big part of operating in the market is figuring out who is bullshitting you and what deals are actually realistic, getting them done if they are, and moving on if they aren't.

If we’ve agreed the terms then he’s negotiating his money.

Bellingham gets linked with Liverpool all the time but won’t he cost in excess of £100m? Liverpool never have spent that sort of cash and it’s hard to imagine them doing so, no?
Liverpool are on a reverse trajectory to us. They’ve become a success story and are building the revenues but more importantly the profile which attracts top players. They spent huge money on Darwin this year and are at the stage where they don’t have to buy five players every window but can buy one or two superstars to upgrade on aging/out of contract players

Both agreed with United. Player still wants to stay and his preference.
Apparently a fee has been agreed with Barca. We would ALWAYS have known what the numbers were ahead of time. We simply said we refused to make our bid official until the player gave his blessing.

Agents will agree fee terms for themselves with anyone. We had agreements with Kounde AND Raphinha’s agents, just not the ultimate ok from the player.

He may well go to United. Your valiant muppetry has certainly earned that. But I’m a Chelsea fan and he’s fantastic, som I’m gonna have to root against you guys on this one.

Almost out of posts already. Good Luck.

Brownie , you have worked harder than half the actual employees at United. Cap tip to you sir.
