Remember the quotes below back in 2019 when Richard Arnold gleamed at transfer speculation driving high level of interaction on social media?

Doesn’t our summer transfer window seemed to be following this strategy?

We are getting linked with every Tom, dick and Harry with the majority of them unattainable targets. Are the likes of Arnold just throwing names out there to get the interactions?

Frenkie De Jong
Rabiot
SMS
Caicedo
Sergio Dest
Timber
Antony
Icardi
Sesko
Sane
Arnautovic
Aubamayeng
Memphis
Casimeiro
Felix
Cunha
Gakpo
Dumfries
Pau Torres
Ziyech
Vardy
Tielemans
Neves

How many more names are we going to be linked with? Man Utd have certainly had plenty of interaction this summer if that’s what the strategy was!

I haven't seen these quotes before but wow this is not a good look.

The fact that Ronaldo is still at the club couldn't be a more clear indication that the decision makers prioritize brand interaction over actual performance on the pitch.

Idiots being promoted to positions of prominence at the football club. All of them are in the Glazer pockets.

Yes, they've already said that one of the main targets this season was to increase social media engagements- arguably the main target.

Is it really worthwhile for us, if the majority of those stories make us look like incompetent fools?! This is hardly the first summer we are rightly getting criticised and scrutinised for our transfer dealings.

This club has absolutely lost the plot, we are behaving utterly erratic and it's really sad to see

Yeah because they are puppets who won't ever speak out about the shocking recruitment

Wow I never saw that before, explains a lot tbh. What an utter wrongun - imagine if they’ve purposely delayed signings for the reason they mentioned in the quote. Genuinely wouldn’t shock me

The mother of all social media 'interactions' is here.
Just what we need. Another clown in the circus.

He would be an amazing owner!

We’d finally be able to buy battery powered players that will run more than the current ones!

I don’t think he’d be a problem tbh he’s so busy with his other stuff I doubt he’d be that hands on with us.

Imagine it though…Tesla or SpaceX as the shirt sponsor. Joe Rogan and him puffing a blunt in the directors box. Would make for an interesting era.

Just the promotional opportunities would be amazing…sending Phil Jones into space…Fred summoning an auto drive Tesla…Bailly getting to play with one of those Boring Company flame throwers.

No joke! Phil Jones face on every rocket. Ronaldo driving an air car to training. ETH's brain waves being broadcasted on United TV. On and on...

Forget about signing the superstars with their super-sized egos. The club need to properly asses the playing staff, and see who needs replacing, and which players need shipping out pronto. You just know that were Pep to be in charge, all the deadwood would have been long gone. For a non-United supporter it's been glorious to see United thrashing about in the dark for signings, and unfortunately, players and agents know United are desperate, so wage demands, even from so-so players, are extortionate. It's a pity about Rabiot though, as I was looking forward to having Veronique over here.

Almost as ridiculous as his comment about United having "25 George Clooneys"

I think you should refrain from saying "us" because the supporters are fed up, if it was the supporters choice we would have actual capable owners & a board that has their transer window planned a month before the window opens and business finished by preseason

The club are not able to control what is being written by the media, or which players we are linked to. Someone writes a story and it becomes fact.

I'll wager that all of the big 6 here have enquired, however tentatively, about dozens of players just like the list above. They don't get the clicks though. Reporters know where the feeding frenzy is, and the United fanbase have an insatiable appetite for any comments.

None of these tweeters ever convince me that their reach goes beyond knowing a few agents, and we all know whose interests the agents are working towards.

It doesn’t change the fact that Arnold said what he did. They obviously feel the speculation is a positive thing. So there’s no reason why they wouldn’t want to embrace that positivity by leaking names.

The club can leak interests in players.

If everything was going well then speculation and excitement and buzz around the club is a good thing. We rely on commercial success to fund the football side. Obviously, the football side is a complete failure but one thing doesn't necessarily make the other bad.

I remember those quotes but forgot about the author. I feel like a fool for trusting Arnold. Scum just like Woodward before him.

Ian Nolan is the clubs content manager.
You only have to look at his stupid hair cut to make a judgement

The current speculation is like united suddenly received an injection of cash..

Has the club already sold/ maybe final details?

I hope it's down to that and not just some speculation thrown out there to appease the fans

Mental how the vast majority of those names have only come up within the last couple of days.

Anyone would think the same rules apply to the media!

Links get clicks, the media love it and use it too.

Woodward i think was not as bad as we think. Probably fell for the glamour side of the job, but when you look at the commercial deals and signings he got done he was actually competent at his job.
