He's the best in the world with Kroos and Modric. Real's midfield is a perfect balance. Casemiro would be of very little help in building plays and has failed to impress with Brazil. I actually have a hard time remembering more than a couple of very good games with his NT in 7 years.

That being said, he's amazing at what he's doing with Real Madrid.
He’s a DM and isn’t being bought by United to build play

Signing a 5ft 6 nearly 40 year player. I don't think his wife fancies Manchester. Giving me Di Maria vibes.

Think I've covered most things there.

Calm down you ageist fools. Claude Makalele, widely regarded as one of the best DM's in the PL, was also 30 when he joined Chelsea.

Cas will be great if we get him!

Ironically enough, Fred and him have provided a very balanced midfield partnership for Brazil over the last year or so
Casemiro, Fred, Eriksen is an interesting midfield - for about 18 months. Then all 3 are over 30 and we’ll be in this exact spot all over again. We need to invest in players that are 23-27 now so that next summer when we’re fixing the other gaping holes we still have, we aren’t plugging the same hole all over again.

That said, we are where we are. He’s a good player and we don’t have any of those. I’m just so pissed at the lack of long term planning.

A five year contract for a 30 year old?
Look at Fernandinho, the position is played mostly in the head and Casemiro is a very intelligent player.

Also think of it as accepting a price for him and amortising that over 5 years rather than the 3 you expect him to be at his peak.

Real just won the CL with a midfield consisting of 36, 32 and 30 year olds. Believe.

Well that's not true. The club had years to sort, sell or replace him.

The did none of those things
Years? How can you say years? It became real in the final year and tbh he's a bag of shit anyway

Huh? He just turned 30 this year. Even if you were rounding off, I'd think 35 is closer.

If Modric played for us his legs would’ve gone at 32. Just seems to be the way things have gone for us lately.

Honestly the more I think about it, the more this makes sense. Casemiro, CE and Bruno against smaller teams. Casemiro, Fred and CE against the bigger teams (bruno off the left). It could actually work really well and at least for a little bit paper over the need for a DLP.

Classic United. We think (debatable) short-term while we should be thinking long term.

I think he'll be like Varane i.e. severely underwhelming.

Why the hell did United not go after Tchoumeni? 22 years old.

Instead they are trying to ruin our team.

Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango!

My initial instinct from today is that we don't know what we are doing so I will try to dampen my scepticism.

No sh*t Sherlock. Do you think united's midfield (and at pretty much any position) has enough quality on the ball to afford spending a huge amount of cash on such a profile?

He's pretty much the opposite of De Jong, who was allegedly ETH dream signing. If United sign him, you can kiss goodbye to your coach as well because it clearly wont suit what he wants to set up.

Liverpool's midfield was just workhorse players before they got the likes of Thiago, Keita etc

Constantly at the STD clinic.
Could this be a master bluff call from our club for FDJ?

It feels a bit too ridiculous to me. The called agents after the game etc PR. Also very random. I think we must be in talks but pushing it so FDJ cracks. Don't be surprised if it becomes "talks failed" in a few hours.

I may be dreaming but if we can get him for 60 million euros or less considering his age and contract that would be a great deal. But we need to be realistic and buy him a competent midfield partner. Playing him with Fred or McTominay would be criminal

Unsure why you make the point then? It’s totally irrelevant to the discussion.

£59m is not a huge amount these days and he’s literally the best in class DM in the world.

United still want another CM and still retain interest in De Jong. It’s not one or the other.

It seems you have no idea what you’re talking about.
