Maybe the reason why the glazers were in town for the game against Brighton was to have talks with Ratcliffe. (Hoping and praying).

When putting in a bid for Chelsea he said something like it wasn’t about making money as they make money in other areas and it would be more of a sporting project.
If he is worth $15 billion then yes that is that sort of money. It's probably a little less than City but that's twice of what was Roman's reported net worth.

Joel Glazer is reported to be worth $1 billion.
He grew up in the area and supported United as a kid. He did end up supporting Chelsea as well after being based down there. He’s a massive sports fan and is 69 now. I’m not sure what motivation he’d have to be running the club as a sensible profit making venture. The ROI will be very weak in a business sense. My hope is that he’s looking to to enjoy his twilight years as much as possible with this venture. Even if he just clears up the debt it will give us £50m a year extra. The devil will be in the detail of course but on balance, at least from the outside, I can’t think of a much better profile for an owner.
Huh. That sounds alarmingly positive.

I won't spoil it by even asking if he did anything terrible to earn all that money or if he has any awful political/social views. I'll just imagine he's Mr. Monopoly.

The writing was on the wall for the Glazers when the super league bid went tits up. Woodward saw the writing on the wall.
Yep. There was no more extra revenue streams left for them to suck out of our club. Also they would need to spend big to make champions league and not just a guarantee.

On the times online it says ineos will purchse the club not just JR. They have a turnover of 44 bill a year so brilliant if it happens

The only former players that could have enough money to be part of this would be David Beckham and Gary Neville?
Whatever player it is, they're not going to contributing significant money and will only be minor investors.

But yes I reckon those that you have mentioned are the likely sort of people involved.

We would. Not overnight but it would happen sooner rather than later.
Even if there's some kind of announcement confirming it'll happen in the relatively near future could help, especially if it's before the transfer window shuts. Might help the moral in the dressing room too.

Problem is I can't conceptualise that much money.

I suppose what I want to know is whether he's sugar-daddy-who-could-whitewash-away-human-rights-violations rich? Or just will-look-to-run-United-as-a-sensible-profit-making-venture rich?
I imagine the latter, but I don't see him taking dividends out and United hopefully will be able to spend what they generate and maybe even have competent management.

This isn't about disappointed or not getting your hopes up.

We have a viable owner and now it is up to us to make it happen.

This means protests, targeting sponsors etc... We need to do whatever it takes ( within the law) to make it happen. This is our one big chance.
I'm not sure about it has to do with me.

The Liverpool game is a massive chance for a showcase of support for Ratcliffe's bid and to send a message to the Glazers that it's time to pack it up, they've had their fun.

They are usually the face of the bids with minority shares, a bit like salford they all share a half whereas peter lim owns the other half. (I think).

I could imagine Becks and Neville being involved. Becks with money and Neville maybe more involved with some decision making.

If it happens the biggest cloud possible is lifted from above the club as soon as it is signed.

We don’t need significant investment. We just need owners who won’t symphony off the equivalent of £100m per year.

On a much smaller scale, obviously, Middlesbrough were/are tied in very closely with Steve Gibson's company Bulkhaul, plus his various other businesses. Without being any kind of expert it seemed creative accounting, sponsorship and tax optimisation kept the money flowing between the various entities. I would imagine Jim's other business interests would all be linked to the club somehow, and the accountants set to work to maximise the finances. Notwithstanding any other backers/investors he has involved. In fact his tax savings from being in Monaco have already been alluded to by others.

Not only that, it’s unlikely to be money that they’re bringing to the table. Far more likely it’ll be a phone book full of people who they can put Jim in touch with.

Money isn’t everything in these kinds of deals, the incumbent would want people to work with them and make any move as smooth as possible. Beckham wouldn’t make anywhere near the sense Neville would.

He said he only bought Nice as a dry run at owning a football club before something bigger. Manchester United makes shit loads of money, in football clubs terms, off its own back. We spent £800m on debt repayments since the Glazers came in. If we just get rid of the debt it will be transformative. He doesn’t even need to be putting his hands in his own pockets. His statement also says that the city of Manchester needs this. United is obviously a much different proposition to Nice for him on both a personal and financial level.

Don't get me wrong, the devil will be in the detail but I’m at least hoping that this could be close to a best case scenario.
