We don't talk about Bruno...

Is it just me or is Bruno Fernandes getting something of a free pass from the majority of our fans?

He's turned in one non-existent performance after another for more than a year at this stage but seems undroppable, surely Eriksen in his role is worth trying for a game or two to see how effective it might be?

No he’s been written off by many fans already.

No, 99% on here have finally woken up. He's a dead weight and has been for ages. Hopefully he can turn it around, when he's on it he's obviously fantastic, but the way he plays the game is totally at odds to how Ten Hag wants his teams to play.

He's been one of the first ones to be criticised. And rightly so after the club stupidly gave him a new bumper contract when he'd been shite for a while.

Whilst the McFred are getting the stick and rightly so, people forget he’s a midfielder too, not a forward. Often his lack of discipline, left those two even more exposed.

His stats from last season suggest it hasn't been a year. 10 goals and 6 assists is a decent haul for any attacking midfielder.

The bigger issue is whether he's suited to our new direction. In a team lacking goals I'm not sure we can bench him until the others step up then it's a valid discussion to drop him.

He is a counter attacking player that played better under a counter attacking manager.

I find it hard to blame him for not being world class under a possesion based manager - that’s hardly his fault.

For all we know we might go back to a counter attacking manager in 3 months time because our club has no ability to build up to a long term plan.

I think many have just kind of given up on him. He's been in terrible form for quite a while now and we rewarded him for that by giving him a healthy wage increase when he was right in the midst of it. We don't help ourselves.

He gets slated regularly when he’s crap, recently that’s been every week.

At the time his new contract seemed premature as his formed had dipped. He needs to quit with the petulance and to stop his first thought being to play the ball to Ronaldo.

He's the pigeon poo on the windscreen when your car has just been keyed and spray painted with grafitti.

He’s such a whiny wanker on the pitch. I’d hate to be his teammate.

I just want to say feck you for the thread title. That’s an ear worm that will take a while to shake off.

To be fair, if we only renewed contracts for players in form, we wouldnt have any players left.

This is what Ronaldo fans do not understand how it effected our game.

Maybe but that wasn't the case with Bruno who still had 4 years on his contract.

If we had actual midfielders (like De Jong and Casemiro), I'd be all for benching Bruno and playing Eriksen in his position.

Our squad is so shite though, that its just not that easy.

This thread would have been correct in 2020/21 when you couldn't say a bad word about him on here because of his stats. Myself and a small number of posters were ridiculed for criticising him for all the things everyone is complaining about now.

He had so many terrible performances that year but his ability to get an assist or a goal which was a penalty a lot of the time, completely changed the narrative of his performances. Now that the stats have dried up its plain for all to see.

I'm under the impression that he is fairly judged, people seem to accept that he has been poor and has fundamental weaknesses that may not be fixable. People are also generally not bashing him relentlessly because it's not the thing to do.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.

It’s not McFred anymore, its McFruno, he is just as rubbish and just as responsible for the state of our midfield.

Only thing is Mct is on 70k but Bruno is on 250k. Not very fair

Not sure about that…
In general, I would say so. Unless you consider any criticism, bashing relentlessly. Bruno isn't treated like Maguire, Pogba, McTominay or Martial who are culprits of something even when they don't play.

Which would be wonderful. They all need to go, down to a man.
I think we have a fair few senior players coming to an end of their contract in 2023, like De Gea for example. I suspect we will be very cautious with who we extend and not.

Its no coincidence that his drop in form has happened after the arrival Ronaldo up front, infact its no coincidence that all our attaking players form has dropped massively since the arrival of Ronaldo.

Must be because Ole bought Maguire though.

The difference between Bruno and those other players you mention (could also include Rashford, Shaw, Lindelof, AWB etc etc) is that he has a lot more credit in the bank having had a hugely positive effect on us over a reasonably long period of time, relatively recently. Which is something you can't say about anyone else in our squad. And that's why they've all been in the firing line for longer than Bruno, which makes them more closely associated with everything that's gone badly since Fergie retired. Either way, the worm has turned and he's now getting absolutely crucified in every thread he's mentioned, just like everyone else.

Free pass? :wenger: Read some threads on here, he isn't getting a free pass from anyone.

He has been poor for a good while but for me he's a victim of the players around him. Two midfielders behind him are incapable of controlling a game. Front 3 are just too static with Ronaldo up top. Also feels like he looks at Ronaldo as the talisman which has resulted in him losing confidence in his own talismanic abilities.

Get a midfielder in and sell Ronaldo and you'll see a Bruno flourishing again.

Seems like somebody wanted a ‘hilarious’ thread title rather than just reading his performance thread or looking on Twitter. He’s getting pelters.

People who think Bruno gets a free pass need their heads scanning.

The reason Bruno does not get singled out is because our whole team is rubbish. If we can't get the ball to our forward players, whats the point talking about them?

How often does the ball get to Bruno, Rashford, Ronaldo and Sancho?

He's a number 10 who likes to play balls in behind, and make third man runs.

None of our forwards make runs in behind, and we've got a midfield behind him which is relegation fodder.

He's not covering himself in glory but if he was our biggest issue I'd be quite happy.

His performance thread hasn't been bumped since monday. The OP has a point.

Been slated on here for ages, doesn't even get a mention when people say "only *enter names here* are good enough".
