Come on man. Try to be unbiased on this - is he really a 80m player? Rasford at his best for United couple a years ago wasn't even close to that. And Rashford actually had good stats 2 seasons in a row. Double digit goals and assists.
Come on man, understand that the way it was phrased it's clear they are Feyenoord(or PSV) fans. Clearly not unbiased.
It's like United fans describing a Liverpool player.

Who was the Ajax fan who laughed at me yesterday for saying that he'd kick up a fuss?

All my Dutch family members (Mom side of the family is Dutch) were already flabbergasted when they read that we were willing to pay 50 million for this bloke, let alone 80 million. 'Heavily overrated'. 'Not nearly as good as anyone says'. 'Don't believe the hype', were the main reactions I got back from them. Sadly, I think we're paying too much, once again, for an Ajax player which are often overhyped and overpriced.

not seen him play myself, but ETH has worked with him and seemingly wants him. Maybe he feels he can take him to the next level, he sees the potential in him, he fits the system he wants to implement. Its typical though for us, we are paying finished article prices for potential, but that's where we are at this time in the transfer window. Again, I've not seen him play, so putting a bit of faith in the manager here in his analysis.

How much do they want for him?

Seems like we always get fleeced by teams when it comes to signing their players. That said, we are desperate for another winger. Rashford and Sancho are not enough.

Tadic took 7 penalties last season. Missed 3. He took only 5 less shot than Antony. Minus that all penalties and their shots. The goal per shot (conversion rate) is almost the identical.

Tadic minutes per goal is much worse.

In what world higher shot on goal means worse shooter?

Are you even educated on understanding stats?

Educate yourself before you talk to fan of other clubs.

You don't even watch their games.
Fine you’ve watched all their games and form your own opinions that he is the most impressive players you’ve seen. Unfortunately there are no objective metric to support your views.

And for the nth time, he is plain average to be considered as 80m+ rated player, no matter how hard you are trying to twisted that, he lags behind other top attacking players in about every important metric out there.

If we sign him, then Glazers are actually very concerned about Mondays protest.

EtH wants another midfielder (alongside Casemiro) a RB, a versatile forward (Antony) and a GK.

Something tells me we aren’t done.

Glazers are looking to sell so are making the team better before they go (strangely) and/or are very worried about UCL/EtH resigning (not that I believe he would in a million years) or the protest.

Either way it’s forced their hand to actually spend our fecking money for once & properly spend it in one window instead of this 150M bullshit thst gets you nothing in this day and age

Let's be honest, they'll just take on additional debt to pay for this shit. No chance they're actually infusing any capital into the club.

It's the decrease in club value due to extra debt vs decrease in club value by becoming a top 6 club rather than a CL club.

Not only fair its overpaying by at least 30-40%.
If you compare him to both Raphinha and Richarlison it’s probably overpaying by about 10-20%.. but he is only 22, we’re also in the sh*t and desperate

This is nonsense. If I get the same answer to the question: is this guy good enough for United, from fans from three different clubs (Ajax, Sparta, Feyenoord), and all of them are not very enthusiastic to say the least, it's quite understandable that I'm not a fan to pay 50 million quid for this bloke, let alone way more than that. If I then look at the guys statistics it is pure mediocrity in a league that is way below the PL.

If anyone is showing his or her bias, it is you.

Is he kicking up a fuss then? All that is known that he isn't on the training today, which is pretty much standard procedure when a transfers could happen.
The kicking up a fuss is speculation

Him on right and Sancho on left with Eriksen running things in the middle.

Pretty much an overreaction. It's standard procedure that players don't have to show up for training when a transfer could be done.
All this tells me is that Ajax expects United to come back with a better offer.

So you think that he is close to be transferred?

Sure it's nonsense, your family clearly aren't big football fans(or have a big bias) if that's the response about Antony. Ask @KirkDuyt he hates Antony with a passion(due to being a Feyenoord fan) but still acknowledges that he's good

Funny you mention Vinicius because one year ago he was viewed as someone lacking an end product (3 goals 5 Assists in 20/21) and not having what it takes to succeed at Real Madrid.
A year ago he doesn’t worth 80m+ either to be fair.

Also, La Liga >>>>> Dutch league.

im sure our fax machine will break on tuesday morning and they wont be able to get a repair man out till september 2023
The Dutch deadline day is a day earlier due to a screw up by the Dutch FA. So Ajax is never ever going to sell Antony on the PL deadline day due to not being able to bring in a replacement.

You have not been able to provide metric stats with context. Echoing same stupid argument doesn't make you any smarter.

You take higher shot on goal as bad thing when Tadic who took penalty has lower shot on goal stats.

xG stats clearly showed that Antony overperforming. While with amount of easy chances, and penalty Tadic is only on par with his xG while their shot per goal (conversion rate) is similar.

And you think that they told Antony to not train based on that hypothetical?
It happened with Martinez and it happens at most clubs when transfer could be made. Would be a shame is the player gets injured and the deal doesn't go through because of that

80m is too good to refuse. Honestly don't know why Ajax isn't accepting it. Kicking up a fuss is a very normal thing. We have seen that with Ronaldo in our case. I think he will join us this window .

A lot of money for someone that will probably need time to make an impact. Antony shows a lot of potential and skill, and it's easy to get excited by his tricks but he isn't productive enough yet, not dominant enough yet. Bergwijn scored 3 goals this weekend, I expect Bergwijn will easily score 20 goals this season, potentially topscorer of the eredivisie. Antony hasn't showed that level yet. This eredivisie season should have been the season where he shows he's ready for the next step. I fear if he comes now he won't be ready. And the pricetag will come with high expectations and pressure.

Ajax have lost a lot of players already, made some good money, so it's understandable they're turning down offers.

Probably because Ajax wants more and thinks United will come back with an improved offer.

Not a fan of that to be honest, I like him as a player. But that's money we could use on a keeper and a right back.

I'm just pissed off at us not signing him earlier for this price. They would have taken this earlier in the window. Now it's a whole thing. This isn't how you build good relationships and isn't how you support the manager.

Indeed. But it's something that is now possible, the user (who I don't think was you, but I might be wrong) laughed at me and said that he didn't want the move and that he wouldn't cause a stir.

Vastly inflated fee. Do we really want to be Brazil FC when this has to be one of the weakest Brazilian national team ever.

It happened with Martinez and it happens at most clubs when transfer could be made. Would be a shame is the player gets injured and the deal doesn't go through because of that

But that's only the case when things are very close or if the player is striking. Otherwise players linked to a deal that isn't close train with their team, it's the normal process.

We are mental. Ajax have already rinsed us for VDB and Martinez and now they're going to again.

No doubt he could be a really good player but that fee is bonkers.
