Well played by Ajax if they can get 100M for Antony, they already got his replacement for 5M
Its not as silly as giving Juventus a player for free, then we buy him back for silly money only for him to return to them on free again.

Really putting pressure on the board isn't he. Slagging United off and saying Ajax don't need the cash after losing 5-6 players.

Thing is the longer this drags on the harder it will be for them to replace him.

Offer Donny in a part exchange, they can get their group back together.

"I told him why do you want silly money to compete against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea when you can play against Go ahead Eagles and Waalwijk?. FFS this league is so shit that even De Boer can win 4 league titles as manager"

I admit I didn't watch this guy much other than the youtube compilations. I'm all for it if we thought he is an upgrade to our forwards. But didn't we just walked away earlier when Ajax quoted some crazy money? I'm just super worried we are panic buying again.

This is one of the reason why we have wasted so much money in the last 10 years.

What's he expected to say ? Come on. Fans get rattled easily these days. He will try his best to make his best player stay.

To be honest this doesn't sound as encouraging as Ancelotti's interview about Casemiro. But anyway as they are already in talks for Ziyech I doubt this won't happen.

Also the snide remarks were the same when we bought from Dortmund.

"Nah he is already gone. We can't keep him. Might as well offer less, we are going to sell regardless. Don't tell anyone please"

Okey dokey champ we will see by this time next week whether CL football is really important to him or not. And as for the club not needing the money ? That amount of money may never be offered for him again don't kid yourself money talks

€100m for an unproven player is insane, but Ajax know United are desperate. The price tag certainly won't help his mentality if he struggles early on transitioning to the Premier League. The Eredivisie is a crap shoot for players making it in England.
Its not far off Grealish or Pepe money. Its not hugely more than Pulisic.

Its obviously too much but I dont think the pressure should be as high given other clubs have made punts that underwhelmed themselves.

The manager wants him so I’m all for getting him but if this doesn’t work out ETH is going to have to fall on his sword. If you blow 100 mill on a player and he turns into a flop there are consequences. It’s risky but he who dares wins.

Grealish was an established PL player, Pepe (who has to be considered an absolute fail) and Pulisic at least showed it in a better league

Hes not well established at City though. And Pulisic has gone on to flop. Antony at least comes with assurances of fitting in well with what the manager wants. A risk that Pulisic and Grealish and even Pepe carried massively.

Yet their best player is still twerking to ditch them for said non-CL club

That Dutch arrogance has been coming out with this Antony business
His team has been ripped apart. Ajax are a great club who play the right way and integrate players from academy the right way. He has the right to be annoyed.

If we don't bring in any attacker or winger in this window, then it's better to splash the cash for Antony. I would prefer the club spends money on him rather than not bringing any attacking reinforcements.

Yeah true. But I still take little comfort in comparing him to three fails that were cheaper despite the better league, if we consider Grealish one as well

You can’t just act like there’s no long-term consequences to decisions like this. We’re living through them. And the difficulties we’re facing right now on and off the pitch are influence by them.
The club can’t move failed players on due to their high wages, not their transfer fees. I’ve seen nothing reported that suggests that Antony will be coming on a high wage (unlike Casemiro).

I love how teams that 100% will not win the champions league try to give us shit for not partaking in the customary 6 games plus 2 like they do every year.

He would only want to play there to get a move to a bigger club and we’re already knocking.
