I'm pretty sure there are League 1, maybe even League 2 clubs that have bigger budgets than the smallest Eredivisie clubs. Bottom 5 in the Eredivisie have a budget of 7-10 million Euro's.

That doesn't say everything about the level of the league though. As has been pointed out, the Eredivisie is doing pretty well in Europe these days. Antony undeniably performed in the UCL as well. Still, I am not 100% convinced he will cut it in the Prem, although I will really enjoy watching and following him if he leaves. He is entertaining at the very minimum.
Maybe we should have signed Bergwijn from Spurs then??? What was his price? £20m?

Has Antony done anything he's not currently doing for Ajax?

I'm sorry but I hate the glazers as much as many on here but when fans pushing for us to sign a 30 year old casimero for 60 million and two Dutch league players for 60 million and 55 million you can't then start moaning next summer when we need another 150 million spent to supposedly fix things, there is no club that can sustainably do that every summer window let alone also demand signing to made in the winter window no matter how well run a club is.

This windiw is on course to be as bad as the summer ole went and brought Harry and bissaka for 130 million
Fans aren't pushing for anything, we're just reacting. No decent club should listen to what the fans say when it comes to transfers anyway. This whole summer should've been carefully planned but here we are. Any failure won't on the fans being happy about a signing here or there. If you look closely you'll know the main reason fans are upset is the lack of planning.

Apparently Ziyech flew directly from Leeds to Amsterdam today to finalise a move, so looks like you’ll get your man.

How do you, looking in from the outside, feel about this transfer? You were linked with Raphinha before, how would you have felt about Antony?

I think it's safe to say that Bergwijn will be scoring a lot more for Ajax than Antony. Assist-wise it will probably be closer, Antony might edge that. What Antony offers more than Bergwijn though is his ability to take on defenders. Bergwijn is more a speed and power merchant, whereas Antony is more a flair/technical player. My biggest question mark with Antony is whether his skillset translates to the premier League. He is pretty lightweight, I could see defenders who get close and physical with him, neutralize him.

How do I feel about Antony the player, or Antony at United?

You know him much better than I do. However that isn't very reassuring to say the least. Hahahaha.

I think it goes to show just who is getting the best deal here.

Man watching the games this weekend and realising how hard every match in this league is :nervous:
Exactly.

Even with all this spending if we bought Antony, FDJ a RB and another forward, I'm still not convinced we would get top 4 this season!

It's given that Man City and Liverpool will take 2 spots. It's a fight between Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and us for the other 2 spots. I just think it's going to be tough finishing ahead of Arsenal and Spurs simply because they have a much more settled, organised and balanced team. It'll take time for our players to gel which may not be quick enough with the form the other teams are showing.

Well, both :D

Would you have liked to sign Antony for Chelsea for the sums mentioned?
Good player that you’re massively overpaying for is my honest opinion. I wouldn’t want Chelsea to sign him at the fees mentioned but I also understand sometimes needs must, hence the situation we find ourselves in with Fofana.

It's going to be a tough season and our players are still learning the basics of pressing and playing out from the back.

Yeah and after a bad start we would need to go on a run. :nervous:

Even Newcastle will pick up alot of points mate, feel like the league is just getting harder each year!

Without ambitious owners we can be fecked in the future.

They kept Ole in charge for 3 years and gave him a new deal. There abut slow.
Im sure they will realise in 3 years time then when we are fighting relegation:wenger:

And have been ridiculed for it.

Wether Antony will become a success or not, wish people would stop comparing it to situations we were heavily laughing about
Yeah, because Nunez is quite shit. If he wasn’t shit they wouldn’t have been ridiculed for it.

And Antony isn’t shit.

Well are overpaying yes but the boy is a great player wich is a RW specialist, long time since we had that? Beckham?
Valencia is the last one we got I think, which is equally as depressing, I don’t count Dan James by the way (he’s more of a lw anyways).
