Come on my mentality monsters. Let's keep up the good work and not slip back to lazy habits.
Based on past evidence, this is exactly what I fear would happen.
By all accounts they had a massive bollocking about this after Brentford. I'm hoping that this is the one thing ETH will not tolerate and I suspect he's made that clear. This is our opportunity to make clubs fear playing us. We must take it.

I'm pretty nervous for this one honestly, after the 'pool game this one is massive. If we go down early and lose our heads it's going to a huge leap backwards and undo our momentum, but if we perform like we did last game it's going to be a great watch.

Just seeing the name Casemiro in the lineup makes the whole team look different and at a much higher level.

Because in reality they're a bunch of lazy feckers who only turn up a handful of times a season, but I'd like to think positively sometimes
Oh I agree, a bunch of softies who wilt at the slightest bit of pressure and difficulty. I just think the phrase "mentality monster" should be left to goofy and his cronies.

    De Gea
    Dalot--Varane--Martinez--Malacia
    Casemiro
    Eriksen--Bruno
    Sancho--Martial--Rashford

This team is quite short though and Southampton will be a threat from set-pieces
it' OK, Arnold and Murtough are scouting some guy called Crouch...

Only just managed to watch the Liverpool game, and it was very much like the City games under Ole in his first two seasons, basically focused on transitions and not bothered with keeping possession. So it will be interesting to see how we’ll play against Southampton.
Was slightly different in that we played with intensity in defending. We didn’t give them room to breathe and it set the tone for the game massively. We also played with great tempo and intent.

Y'all think Ronaldo's getting dropped for this one? There might be a meltdown if he gets dropped 2x in a row.

Think he will start this one, and score too. Cavani had success against them, they aren’t great at defending balls into the box so we should be looking to get the ball into our forwards early. He’s built for that. Also ETH hinted at it when he kept saying “they will have a part to play in the NEAR future.”

Coming off the high from Monday's win and performance, the pessimism built over the last 9 years is settling in. Can't remember specific games but, remember the feeling of quite a few games where we perform really well, team gives it from minute 1 and think - yes, that is what we need next game, next game comes and we are flat.

Southampton are a well coached side and are not going to give us the room behind like Liverpool did, so it's going to be interesting to see if we can a) Get the intensity going from minute 1 b) Be able to consistently attack them c) Most importantly - defend against the counter attack.

This should be a game for Martial to start but, have a feeling Ronaldo will get the nod in the hopes he'll have a point to prove. Might not be a bad idea if we can actually get crosses into him and not make him the focal point but, just let Bruno/Eriksen be the ones to help break them down.

I assume Casemiro is going to start?

This is a big game. For as great as the win against Liverpool was, Southhampton are not going to allow us to play that way. This will probably be us dominating possession and trying to break them down while they counter us. And as we know, we're not great at this.

I'm actually quite nervous about this one.

Southampton will press us just as much as we try to press them. Will be an interesting battle. Think we can win this quite comfortably if everyone performs to there best. Think Casemiro comes straight in for mctominay and Ronaldo replaces Elanga. Midfield battle will be crucial for this game. Avoid giving them set pieces at all cost as ward prowse is probably the most deadliest set piece taker in the league.

I don’t think they’ll park the bus, especially with them being at home. They do try to play football, and they’ll press us. If we can beat the press they’ll be plenty of space for our fast attackers to exploit.

Gen Gen pressing coming. They will play a very high line. It will be another aggressive high intense game.

Mad that people think Ronaldo will start. It will rightly be Martial, he’s Ten Hags first choice and rightly so.

Oh, I think they'll be aggressive in their press because they always are. Probably not park the bus, per se, but I'd assume we'll have most of the ball. Look at the Brighton game and the Brentford game. Both teams who also like to play football and have a very aggressive press, yet we absolutely dominated possession.

If we win I hope Ten Hag tells us why and how he targeted their weak spots by naming how shit their players are as per the Southampton manager towards us a few years ago.
Same goes for a win v Leicester if that comes to pass with Maddison’s comments last season. Wolves manager next after that who couldn’t wait to tell us how clever he was.
Go for the win and don’t hold back

Yeah they'll definitely attempt the press but if that doesn't work they'll quickly get back into shape.

These are gonna work a lot harder than Liverpool. We'll need the same intensity and hopefully our star players(Tony, Rashford, Sancho, Bruno and Eriksen) can make the difference.

It's not gonna be easy though. I'd take a cheeky 1 nil right now.

From what I can see from Southampton this season, they have some tricky hard working attacking players like Djenepo, Prowse and Peters but they're very suspect under the cross. This might be a game, dare I say it, for Ronny and his aerial ability.

Same as Liverpool except Casemiro in for McTominay and Martial in for Elanga. United to win 3 nil.

I like this team. With Casemiro's arrival this is pretty much how it should be. I can see Fred in there instead of Eriksen, but the latter is more exciting.

Elanga did well enough against Liverpool apart from the miss, but Rashford and Martial seem a bit sharper.

For his first game I think Casemiro needs another defensive option alongside him, and Fred probably makes the more natural partner so I would move Eriksen to the bench for this one.

I really hope we win by a lot. A big win following the liverpool game should erase all the negativity from the first two games.

Eriksen has to start, thought he was really tidy against liverpool and if southampton at any point decide to sit back and defend, him and bruno together will be key in picking apart their defense.
