Sport pushed the story of Frenkie to United for a week, then Frenkie to Chelsea for a week, then Frenkie says no to United for a week, then Frenkie takes pay cut for a week, now they are back to Frenkie to United. It is just rubbish. We need a better source.

Exactly this. Can see Lewandowski and the rest fuming at Barca and Frenkie if he's allowed to make thrice as much as them. He'll be bullied and frozen out on a daily basis by all his teammates.

I'm actually surprised they keep playing him, must be hopeful it'll convince him to write off 30 million after bullying him all summer. His agent must be fuming even more.
I don't think any of the players are upset with him regarding his contract status. If anything, they want him to stand firm and hold the line with his contract. Changing his contract suits the owners and not the players, if Frenkie submits to their whim, now it only gives the owners more power over the players later on.

If Barca sell Aubamayeng to Chelsea for 18m will that facilitate the deal to pay FdJ his back wages and thus his sale? Would suck ass if he went to Liverpool after all of this

Barca needs to sell Aubamayeng to Chelsea to pay Frenkie to then be able to sell Frenkie to Manchester United.

Said this before, but must be the whackiest transfer scenario I've ever heard of.

If we get him we’ll finally have something resembling a midfield

De Jong
Casemiro
Eriksen
Fred

those aren’t bad options at all. Hopefully Zidane and/or Mejbri comes through properly this season too so that we can have an exciting academy product to add to the mix - and that can rotate in every now and again

If he wants to stay on his current salary he just refuses any transfer and he will stay on his current salary. How is that an impossible situation?
Right but that might entail dealing with all of the bullying tactics of Barca. Playing at CB, being a sub, etc. He is waiting out that process. For example...they sell a few other players and can comfortably keep his salary...and they stop with telling him to leave. Then its tenable. Right now its not. So yeah...he can refuse and stay and be made miserable...but he's waiting out the process of seeing if that will happen.

We would still need 3 more players then (and would also need to dispose of many)
It is unlikely that a team would have 8 new starters come in in one window.
If we got FDJ and Antony we would have a new midfield, new left side of defence, and a much more coherent attack. We would have made great progress in this window.

although the club are clearly in the market for a keeper too. So there’s that

I’m calling a loan deal now.
Not saying you’re wrong, but what is the upside for the three relevant parties of a loan? United get a temporary fix unless there is a buy option attached. Barca don’t get the money they are looking for to register players and merely kick the can for a year before having to readdress the wage structure issue. Frenkie relives this all again next summer?

United make me feel dirty. And not in a sexy way.

I love how somebody doesn't mind updating the title of this post every day to make accurate "# more days for muppeting" :D

I would have given up long time ago :) but "die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt" (Hope dies last)

I don’t suspect it would be a straight loan, there will certainly be longer term clauses involved.
