If its a strain, its a matter of few weeks to a couple of months, if its an achilles rupture, he's out for the season. Blows for him and for us.

Usually an old man's injury.

If it's tightness can be be 3-4 weeks
Ten hag said hopefully fit the next game which is midweek, so hopefully nothing. My guess is he'll be saved til Arsenal on the weekend.

Oh man, that’s a bummer about Martial.
Not sure if spending 90m on a wide player is more needed than another no.9.
Anyone around who is available with similar qualities to Martial?

Feck it, start the big man up top against Soton.

Memphis Depay is the best fit available right now

i just texted my mate (who is also a United fan btw) the news about Martial's injury.

His response was 'Probably injured after running for the first time in his life'.

I mean I couldn't help but laugh. Absolutely savage.:lol::lol:

Ten Hag on team news
"You will see tomorrow [changes]. I will tell the team first [changes]. Anthony Martial is not fit."
Ten Hag on the spirit
"The spirit was already good but now it is even better [following Monday's win]. But it's only one game so we have to build further, we have to develop and I think everyone is aware of that."
Ten Hag on Casemiro and Martial
"Casemiro is fit, he did all the training sessions. He [Martial] came out with a problem with his achillies. I cannot tell a prognosis, how long it takes. I hope he will be available for the next game."
Ten Hag on Jones, Tunazebe and Williams
"We are talking about players who are not available, I don't think they will go out in this window."
Ten Hag on United's style
"We need to have a high standard. It's a demand to the group. Now they see what the reward is, so we have to match the runs in and out of possession. We need runs and movement if you want to dictate a game."
Ten Hag on Southampton
"It's a different challenge [to Liverpool]. Did we learn the lesson from Brentford? Because this will be more or less than same approach."
Ten Hag on transfer window
"We need players but we need the right players. The whole transfer window, we are happy with what we did until now, but the bar has to be high."

Well at least he pretty much confirmed we'll be back to possession football.

Yup. He'd be a very good signing all around IMO. Helps that he's been here and knows many in the squad, but he's developed into a decent link up/hold up striker and is a decent worker defensively. And will come cheap. Need someone in desperately to rotate with Martial.

That's what he said about the hamstring. Ended missing three weeks.

Achilles are not easy injuries to get over.

Very annoying Martial is out. I didn't have much faith in him to still be here this season, but to be fair he did well over pre season and went he came on versus Liverpool. Its clear he could be an important player in this system as no one else really has his hold up skills.

Hopefully not a long one. We're light up front and I'm worried it will see him sink back into the form that made a lot of us give up on him. If nothing else, how regularly he gets injured is a reason to invest up front.

Martial, why bro? :(

We need him to stay fit this season. Our options are severely limited. He's also the only forward we have that can hold the ball up.

They aren't injured. ETH is saying that he thinks they won't leave the club this window.

Depay, good grief.
You can't turn your nose up at every player available unfortunately. He's a good player, he loves the club.

I'd rather take him than Arnautovic.

Is this a separate injury from the one he had earlier this season or is this the same one that reinjured? I don't remember if the last one was a hamstring or not.

Memphis is a good center forward who has excellent link up play, good hold up play, can score goals and at least tries defensively. He's not a good winger. We wouldn't sign him for the wing if he came.

Loving how clinical these press conferences are becoming.

Finally the manager is making sure that the journalists earn their living by asking the right questions. Hopefully he'll make these a non event - unless he wants to pick up a narrative.

The previous managers allowed too many stories to come out of these IMO!

If he’s available on the cheap he wouldn’t be the worst option to rotate with Martial who clearly can’t be relied upon to stay fit for any length of time. Not ideal but desperate times and all that.
If Ronnie goes, it'd be a good deal, free transfer on a 3 + 1 deal, certainly fits into ETH system and work ethic.

Has to buy some player that EtH ok with. We need bodies as well as qualities. The season is long and with world cup...etc. players will burn out easily and Depay could help in this case. He a good player atleast.

I'm genuinely angry at the Martial news. Jesus Crist we are unlucky. Guess we will have to do with Ronaldo then.

The good news is there's not much absolute scrap left at the club for the first team - Jones and Williams

The bad news is they're injured and we're probably stuck with those for another year.

Layers of scrap to good:

1. Jones and Williams,
2. Shaw and Maguire
3. AWB, Ronaldo and Fred
4. De Gea, McTominay, Elanga, Van De Beek and Martial
5. Dalot, Lindelof, Rashford and Bruno
6. Eriksen, Martinez, Varane, Malacia, Sancho and Greenwood (Controversial...)

Big shame about Tony, hopefully just a knock rather than a strain and he’ll be back quickly. He usually enjoys a game vs Southampton too.

Ten Hag refused to take questions from Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill, who sat in the front row of the conference at United's Carrington training complex. Cotterill was informed before the press conference that Ten Hag would not be taking questions from him.

Martial news is annoying, but does he mean Jones, Tuanzebe, and Williams are all injured and won’t leave this window?
