Do you think he will get much game time?
Or just waiting for potential injuries

Good signing, better than all the other options that were mooted from Germany.

At a minimum should be starting in all the Europa League games and in the League cup.

My understanding of Dubravka from the last few seasons is: good shot-stopper, not much of a sweeper or passer, commands his area well. Probably an upgrade on De Gea, just based on that last bit - guy can definitely catch a fecking cross.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's starting league games soon.

They can recall him in January? Wtf is this?

Definitely not planned that he actually challenges De Gea then.

I see the logic in this.

I can see Ten Hag binning both De Gea and Henderson next summer, instead going for a goalkeeper who completely suits the team.
Dubravka would be a shrewd investment at #2 if this transpired.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he shifts De Gea by Christmas.

He might have more to his game than he's shown at Newcastle but I think he'll need to to really challenge De Gea in any meaningful way.

Still, no real downside to the deal and at very least we have a better keeper than Heaton in place if De Gea starts throwing the ball into the net again.

Good goalkeeper but he won't be ahead of De Gea for a while if at all

Newcastle really needed that loan fee. I’m sure it will be spent wisely.

Happy with this. Seems to be a competent keeper rather than a spectacular one but right now that's what's needed. Can't believe he has a clause in his contract letting Newcastle take him back in January if they wish. He gets in ahead of De Gea plays a blinder and then we have to let him go if Newcastle want him back? That's madness.

I remember him pulling a Friedel against us on his debut for Newcastle and I rated him highly before he got his injury and when he played under Benitez.

So welcome Dooby (is that the Oleised nickname we’re going for with him? :p )

If he's established himself as our #1 by then though then he'll have no doubt played enough games to trigger the obligation to buy clause.

Apparently Newcastle fans think its hilarious we are so excited about getting him, many are saying he is not any kind of sweeper keeper and was often stuck glued to his line.

Our scouts have searched long and hard for a keeper that will suit ten Hag's playing style. Surely this is the best available option amirite?

Seriously? I think we are stuck with DDG for a long while yet unless we pay him to leave.

That's not what his stats show though. Comfortably better stats than De Gea in sweeping, high claims and especially successful long passes. For a Ten Hag system he is looking good.

I would share your confidence apart the fact the people being referred are "our scouts".
So far Ten Hag seems to have just bought players he has worked with, fine, or saw in the Dutch league while there, fine, and signing Eriksen and Casemiro is not exactly unearthing hidden gems.

All the poor fits are at risk of being binned already. Ruthless.

What’s the chances he end up displacing DDG as our number 1, plays really well and then Newcastle end up recalling him as part of the clause they have in this deal.

For a fella whose played in the premier league for 4 full seasons, no-one, myself included seems to know too much about him. Not sure if that is good or bad but we'll see I guess. I was hoping whoever we signed would legitimately challenge De Gea and not just be back up. Remains to be seem what his role is.

Who have we brought in on loan in the last ~15 years? This guy, Ighalo, Falcao, Tevez (technically), Larsson, Kuszczak, anyone else?
