Eriksen and Mctom looks a very vulnerable midfield against this particular version of Arsenal. Hopefully Ten Hag knows what he's doing.
Hit it long from the back again to beat there press like we did against Liverpool. Our pace should cause there defence problems. We have 2 tricky wide people now.

The midfield in his system is very important so I do understand why he’s wanting to bed Casemiro in.

Much easier to throw a forward in. Less risk, especially if they already know what is expected of them and the person they are replacing is not really at it.

Big bold move to start Antony considering he’s not played nor trained for 3 weeks and wasn’t expecting him to be fully match fit but ahh well, looking forward to seeing him now!

I’m very surprised Casemiro has been kept on the bench. I thought this would be the sort of fixture he’d be starting. Probably ETH isn’t wanting to take any risks with a McTominay & Eriksen partnership that’s already been tried and tested and during that time, done really well.

I’m pretty sure the rules state you have to have two keepers on bench no?
    Not in EPL.
But other teams have been putting 2 keepers on the bench as well as you are allowed so many subs now. It’s less risk. A GK could get red card and sub gets injured.

Antony fitter than Casemiro even whilst going on strike. Must have quite an engine.

I think we’re gonna regret starting Eriksen over Casemiro.. I think we’re gonna need that extra steel in the middle of the pitch.

Happy Antony is starting though.. you spin me right round
No. I am still amazed by people who are happy to start McT and Casemiro. Eriksen’s a big reason why McT is playing relatively well. Put McT and Casemiro in and we won’t be able to play out of our half as seamlessly as we have the past few matchecs. Our problem in our build-up has been Rashford and Elanga. And to a smaller extent due to his carelessness, Bruno.

    Genuinely excited about Antony.

I like this streak of blandly named Brazilians we've been recruiting.

    Fred, Antony...

It's very exciting to think that there's a Brendan or Connor out there playing for some youth team in Sao Paolo that we'll be spending hundreds of millions on in a few years.

Casmiro will slowly be integrated into the team, mctominay had a good game no reason for him to lose his place. Antony, and Martinez, start immediately because they already know ETH's system.

Ronaldo doesn't start because the last time he started we got battered 4-0, costing us a goal and almost costing us a goal against Leister through his selfishness

Regardless we will win 2-1 or 3-1

Xhaka to unleash his seasonal worldie goal against us.

At least Elneny isn’t playing. I swear that guy always pulls out in a 9/10 performance against us and then disappears back into gooner obscurity.

It’s an indictment on how poor Elanga is. And Antony is already familiar with Ten Hag’s system, which is the reason he gave today for benching Casemiro. Previously he’d mentioned fitness too.

Everybody here who has written off the game just because Casemiro is not starting, you can choose not to see the game today since you have decided we are going to lose.

If McT was playing badly the past 3 games, fair enough. But he has been playing quite well so it will send a wrong message to the dressing room that a performing player can still be dropped for a "star" player. It will just result in dressing room chaos. It is quite clear most of you don't understand how management works.
Casemiro clearly isn't fit yet anyway, ETH said it himself so no need to be concerned in the slightest.

There are people on here thought we would lose to Liverpool, that we wouldn't beat either Southampton or Leicester. It is a typical day on a matchday thread.
Its like they want the club to win with players they believe will suit the club and a style of play which destroys every team to smithereens. They can apply for the manager's post next time.

It’s more that Antony knows exactly what ETH is going to be asking of him, even more so that players that have trained with him all summer.

Arsenal play Ben White at right back these days?? Really hope we have a good go at them from the start. Will be key to a win here.
he doesn’t play like a normal full back. The Arsenal back line all shift in pretty good unison when out of possession, when they have the ball zinchenko will play as another CM and white will be a RCB

The message is clear: know my football and execute it on the pitch.

"McT has played well" yeah well we're talking about Casemiro here. You don't bench a x5 Champions League winner, the best defensive midfielder in the world for Scott McTominay. If we lose the midfield battle here, Ten Hag only got himself to blame. We're lucky Arsenal's midfield is pretty shit too.
What Casemiro did in the CL many years ago is irrelevant. ETH is obliged to pick the lineup he thinks will work the best for this game. If he thinks McT is in better form then it would be the correct call.

I assume ETH only wants to start players who get used to his system.

Ronaldo miss the whole preseasons and is not fully fit, Casemiro is coming from another team which is playing different type of football, while Antony knows his role under ETH very well back in Ajax. Both Rashford and Mctominay has trained through the whole preseasons so perhaps ETH has more faith on them.

Think Ronaldo and Casemeiro will start on Thursday. We will see how bothered Ronaldo is about playing this season.

Casemiro will be integrated once he’s up to speed and most likely fitness.
I guess Ten Hag really wants Antony in right away, so makes sense not to also have Casemiro make his first start in case they're both not entirely ready.

Arsenal are always the jammiest cnuts in football whenever they play us in the last few years.

Fully expecting the winner to fly in off Eddie Nketiah's arse in the 98th minute after us hitting the woodwork three times and having multiple stonewall penalties waved away.

Yes you do. We are not a circus anymore but a football club. Ten Hag should bench anyone if he thinks it’s appropriate. Last 9 years have learn you nothing.

Varane/Lisandro/McT have done really well defensively in the last 3 games so if Casimero is not quite there fitness wise it is a fair enough choice.

Expected a little bit of rotation, how Sancho and Eriksen recover from midweek will be key as they dropped off badly in the 2nd half and freshening it up must have been under consideration.

Fecking hate this team. Why are Ronaldo and Casemiro on the bench?! Absurd.
Ronaldo because he's a shite footballer these days who can't run can't press cant hold up.
Casemiro because mctominay has had 3 class matches and doesn't deserve to be dropped even if he'd want to change them. The message is more important than a result at this stage.
