Cancelling everything for weeks is silly. What about me, I hate everything but football. Didn't the queen herself once sing that the show must go on?
She’s not a politician but head of state. Think you’ve only got to look at the tributes coming in from all over the world - including Putin! If something we’re to happen to Felipe V1 in Spain then I’m sure they will do similarI'm not British of course. But do most British people really care about the queen? It's an interesting topic to me.
I couldn't care less if any politician dies in my country.
West HamDid her majesty support any team in football or was it all tea and cricket?
She supported West Ham mate.arsenal
all in all, she had a bad week
Her majesty supported Hammers. The biggest flag shaggers. The Gunners you say. Wouldn’t guessed that. Oh well let her Rest In Peace. I really think she would have chosen the football and everything else that bring joy to peoples life to go on as usual. She felt like that kind of person. I’m not a fan of royalty and doesn’t feel like it should be part of the society in 2022. But she seem to be a good person overall.
Are you for real? - Football stopped for Months during lockdown!!!Don't remember the football stopping during Covid despite people dying everywhere.
If people don't want to watch the football then don't watch it. Let people decide for themselves.
Makes zero sense causing pointless disruption to people's lives who work in the sector, people who have paid money to attend, causing delays to an already congested fixture list. People can still pay respect at the matches.
WiIl be watching matches from France/Spain/Germany or Italy this weekend. The world doesn't stop.
The decision seems more moronic by the minute.
No that was the bandCancelling everything for weeks is silly. What about me, I hate everything but football. Didn't the queen herself once sing that the show must go on?
It stopped for three months - not all the people who died from Covid died during those 3 months. Covid was a tiny bit more serious! Are you for real? - Football stopped for Months during lockdown!!!
There's two possibilities that he's completely ignorant of the history or he's well studied on it.You love it’s history do you? Oh boy.
Actually that's not fair, you Brits also seem to love eating baked beans for breakfast and apparently darts for some reason.Honoring the queen by (checks notes) cancelling the one activity your entire country loves and enjoys.
I don't believe that's true. People today are better educated. For instance, compare maths/science exams to that of previous generations. In terms of general intelligence, I'd argue people today are far smarter too. Primarily due to the internet and the sheer wealth of information consumed over time at a fingertips notice. Curious to what makes you think otherwise though?Woke from what? People today on average are far less educated than a few generations ago. There is something comforting to many of us with keeping our long held British traditions alive. Woke or not...
If I remember correctly as a young lad in Salford Manchester United was my local team. Eff the global brand.Man United’s a global brand & we all aren’t white & English posting here. Colonialism tends to be divisive but I guess it’s easier to watch sky & ignore it
Nobody cares about you.Cancelling everything for weeks is silly. What about me, I hate everything but football. Didn't the queen herself once sing that the show must go on?
Is it just me or is the logo in that image ever so slightly off center and to the right?Tweet

Just football. Maybe they were scared of the possibility of booing in football stadiums during minutes of silence. Is it just football that’s postponed? What about golf and cricket?
Interesting. As an outsider I always find it fascinating but at the same time also weird because everything she does is controlled from such an early age, like a robot programmed to do specific things. But I never thought people from the UK think like that, at least not many. It sounds cliche but I would rather not be rich but have a life of my own than to have everything but theyre all measured and controlled. Many do. Many others just find it a bit weird/surreal, because she's not so much a human being as an institution, one that was ever-present but is now gone. Some others couldn't care less and/or are celebrating her dying.
She wasn't a politician, but overall I'd say she enjoyed greater popularity than any British politician did in the last half-century. Her kids are a lot less popular...
I don't know about your first paragraph, I find people a hell of alot thicker these days than years ago. Like basic, no common sense whatsoever, dumb.I don't believe that's true. Appreciate you want to keep your traditions and that's fine but you must also understand why younger generations (and most non-UK people) think it's all a load of nonsense. From a logical point of view we're talking about an archaic institution living a lavish life by virtue of birth right and all off taxpayer money, in 2022. It's not about being woke or disrespectful - just seeing the situation for what it is in reality.
Literacy levels and the numbers completing full secondary and further education are higher than they've ever been worldwide.I don't know about your first paragraph, I find people a hell of alot thicker these days than years ago. Like basic, no common sense whatsoever, dumb.
I know there's always been people like that obviously, but I think there's alot more, and it's way way worse today. Social media is the culprit for me.
Yeh that's fair. Maybe there's just alot of dumb people where I live thenLiteracy levels and the numbers completing full secondary and further education are higher than they've ever been worldwide.
Social media just gives us a window into people's stupidity that we never had before.
But keeping the horse racing going on Sunday… the one sport she actually likes and attends.Honoring the queen by (checks notes) cancelling the one activity your entire country loves and enjoys.
Footy back on Tuesday for the Champions League it seems.
I know if may seem odd or silly to some but we really should show a little compassion and respect to the people who utterly flipped their lids over going 3 days without football.
I don't get why they are so upset but I won't mock them for it any anyone who does should really show a little more class, their grief seems real and who are we to diminish it.
Disagree with youSilly decision but judging by some of the more dramatic posts on this thread some folks need to find a hobby or two.
I disagree with almost all of this. Exam results may be better these days but that is because it is much easier to get top marks now - lots of coursework instead of exams (in my day coursework was barely a thing at all) and the difficulty of the exams was much harder than it is now. Also you have way more 'soft' subjects to choose from which are not as challenging as the core subjects kids had to do 30/40+ years ago.I don't believe that's true. People today are better educated. For instance, compare maths/science exams to that of previous generations. In terms of general intelligence, I'd argue people today are far smarter too. A joke that really. Don’t think anyone would boo at stadiums anyway. Maybe city fans because they have no class and always boo the CL games.Just football. Maybe they were scared of the possibility of booing in football stadiums during minutes of silence.
No such threats elsewhere. As we know, only gentlemen and gentlewomen and gentlekids attend cricket matches. And golf is barely a sport..
I've only made it the first page and I already have a gapped mouth at some the comments and I'm not even British or European (from a Commonwealth nation in Africa so that should give you a clue about what I think of the British Royalty) but the sheer disrespect because a stupid round of weekend games got called of in mourning a much beloved Head of State. Even my country is mourning her death. I see stuff like this and it's another indication of how Western culture and traditions have fallen off a cliff in the pursuit of “modernization". No one worships Kings and Queens anymore, what we still should have is common respect for National leaders especially one who's dedicated her entire life to do some good in the world regardless of the privilege she was born into. When you think about the things we are supposedly supposed to do, think and say when known criminals are tragically killed by some shitty policing is a game being cancelled for the death a Head of State too much to ask for? Some of the most disrespectful and frankly sad comments I have read on this forum. Some of you lot are very small minded insignificant pathetic fools.
100% agree with you. Highly doubt it was the premier leagues decision, clubs won’t be happy with this as they will have to play the games again probably midweek some point when that could of been a week full of training. Everyone els is allowed to carry on with there jobs so why not professional footballer? They’ve also cancelled the boxing tonight aswell. What a boring weekend this will be for a lot of people who live football.Disagree with you
I wouldn’t have been watching it anyway as I’d be out with my daughter, so it doesn’t affect me in that way but I still think the decision is absolutely ridiculous and it requires a bit of outrage
No good reason to postpone them. Even if you take away the winter World Cup and heavy schedule.
Royals themselves are just carrying on, getting on with their duties, taking up their new roles etc. Best way to honour them is by carrying on too.
And sports bring people together
Literally was no reason to postpone it and I bet the Premier League would reverse that decision now if they could. Was stupid and no justification
At last, someone who speaks sense on this forum (even if it is a Spurs supporter!).I disagree with almost all of this. Exam results may be better these days but that is because it is much easier to get top marks now - lots of coursework instead of exams (in my day coursework was barely a thing at all) and the difficulty of the exams was much harder than it is now. People are much smarter now you say? Not in the slightest. People have access to much more information than we had even 20 years ago with the rise of the internet. I would argue that this has exposed people for being incredibly stupid as they can now choose to believe any old nonsense they read online without having to put any effort in to research or critique the information to actually understand it or judge it's accuracy.
This is why we get so many people offering opinions on things with paper thin understanding of what they are talking about and with such conviction because they are able to surround themselves with like minded people online. The world online at least feels infinitely more stupid than ever.
I agree that it was a poor decision but some of the reaction here has been well OTT.Disagree with you

No no and NO. Why do people keep asking that, seriously, If it's announced then it's confirmed, but nothing about next weekend yet.Is it confirmed that next week's matches are also postponed?
If you are intent on the historical significance you have to admit most of it is not great, to put it mildly. At least the monarchy has factual historical significance, like it or not.
Holy shit, that last sentence…I've only made it the first page and I already have a gapped mouth at some the comments and I'm not even British or European (from a Commonwealth nation in Africa so that should give you a clue about what I think of the British Royalty) but the sheer disrespect because a stupid round of weekend games got called of in mourning a much beloved Head of State.
