I've come around to House Of Dragons, it's an easy watch, very light and fluffy. It's like a grim saturday morning cartoon; such that the cringe stuff like the horse fall, or the archery, or the pleasure den scenes, or the shambolic dialogue and line delivery e.g. "I like duck me, yum yum", don't spoil the whole thing. It's quite stylish, is well rendered and fun. It balances its cliches and predictable archetypes and soap opera plotting, with a nice sense of grim and earthly squalor. I don't forsee a problem with the time skips, given that the broad brushstroke approach is being handled fairly skilfully.
It's nothing much like OG Game of Thrones or even the disastrous late GOT seasons. HOD world has no weight, structure, or direction to it, and fails to provide any narrative depth to the history of the throne. However it works well as a cheery tapestry of past events.
