"Of course he was upset, he's big star, best player ever, when you have that kind of player you dont make him train alone. We're yet to see the whole interview, I'm sure everything was taken out of context."
I don't care if he is Maradona and Messi combined. If he refuses to come on then he should be banished to the reserves.

Maybe ETH, should have told him that if he was crap he wouldn't play?

PS: Ronaldo has played more than a 1000 minutes and it's not half of the season, he has played a lot.
All players play because The manager thinks they should play and is contributing to the team. When the manager thinks he is not contributing then he gets benched.
Or do you think ETH has told him that though you are crap you are going to play no matter what?

Funny how he always mentions Messi but Messi never mentions him.

He's so butthurt that the majority of the world view Messi as better, why does he care so much ?
I think what this thread needs is a Messi v Ronaldo sub plot

I'm surprised only 52% think he's a massive bellend, that was clearly evident 13 years ago.

Unless people didn't know you can answer with more than one answer.
Thats my guess too, people only chose one when 3 out of 4 is correct. I choose the last one though to troll around

Sarcasm.

I don't think that ETH should promise anything but that's what Rio and others are implying while also ignoring that he has actually played a lot(too much).

this Souness argument that he is putting forward on talk sport, which he has no clue if it happened at all, but his assumption is that Ronaldo and ETH had a pre season meeting after no club came in for him. The gist was from Souness that ETH promised him playing time. It may have happened, but after those 2 defeats we got from Brighton and Brentford, he had to change his game plan, and he did and Ronaldo wasn't the only player that suffered. Maguire can't even get a game now with Varane out injured, Shaw got dropped after that, but worked his way back. Players like Sancho and Fred aren't regular starters anymore. Form dictates playing time, Ronaldo's has been poor, 3 goals sp far this season, 2 of which came against Sheriff in europa league.

so the part where he said he has no respect for ten hag got lost in translation due to editing? hold tight to those straws
I have read the comments; no doesn't always mean no it needs exploring further and looking at the context of what was said. That position is no different than United's. So, feel free to messaged united and ETH to express your absolute and divergent views to them as you're trying to with me.

Don’t think there’s much in the 90 minutes. He promised big revelations over the last two nights and it’s been nothing.
Piers seems to have went early with the clips

Probably asks him and answers for him too, judging by the clips we’ve seen.
It is somewhat embarrassing that Ronaldo, one of the most famous people in the world, has chosen to air his explosive claims on... Talk TV, a channel that struggles to muster even 80k viewers and one that most people have never even heard of. And he's doing it with low-rent bullshit merchant Piers Morgan of all people.

Was Oprah Winfrey busy or something?

How did anyone in Ronaldo's camp think this was the appropriate outlet for his grievances?

ETH promised him playing time.
This imo makes absolutely no sense at all.

A manager promises a player game time only to convince that player to stay or in order to sign him. It was not like Ronaldo had any offer at that moment. And according to reports we were even ready to let him leave on a free.

Isn't Talk TV a right wing mouthpiece?

Morgan maybe asks him in fairness. I’d wait for the interview before judging on that one.
Ultimately, when all this settles down, the outcome is that Morgan has played Cristiano like a fiddle here, and he's been naive to allow himself to be put in this position.

Piers isn't a reputable sports journalist in any way, so this is Ronaldo having one eye on his future as a public figure than a - mainly - sports personality. This would all have a very different, far less sensational tone to it if he'd done this interview elsewhere.

Morgan is the only winner in this, and even that 'win' is merely to keep an increasingly irrelevant person and his TV station in the public eye for a few more weeks.

Sorry. This is getting my goat. So apologies.
Some people trying to undermine the club soon after we get a decent manager.
Yes I agree that the club mishandled Rio's departure. He deserves a home sending off.
But this is entirely a different situation.

It would also be good to hear from Sir Alex Ferguson at this time, something along the lines of "nobody is bigger than the club", but I bet we don't.
It would only be good if the club believes that would help them legally, or if the players or managers need support in this (which so far they haven't done - ETH has managed this difficult personality very well).

Otherwise why bring Sir Alex into it?

That's not what I'm saying. Rio is implying that ETH didn't communicate with Ronaldo and made him know that he wasn't going to play a lot. There are two issues with this that Rio seems to totally miss, first Ronaldo played a lot, due to Martial's injury, and there is no scenario where a manager will promise game time to a player in spite of performances. Just to add an obvious parameter to Rio's idiocy, what if ETH promised game time to Martial but Ronaldo outperformed him, should Ronaldo still be benched?

It’s plausible I think. They could have had a discussion and ETH said Ron was still in his plans, despite his wish to leave.

Even if he did say that though, “game time” is exactly what CR7 has had. It could be argued we’ve actually given him a perfect tune up for the WC.

There's no way ten Hag assured Ronaldo that he'd be a guaranteed starter. The only reason the possibility is being discussed is because of some make-believe conversation dreamed up by Souness and Rio Ferdinand.

Carragher pointed it nicely, theres no promise made by manager you'll play so and so minutes. He can say you're in my plans, I'm counting on you and so on. But to blame ETH for lack of communication is bonkers. ETH made all the right moves, even gave him captaincy and Ronaldo still made a mess. Not only that, he still played a lot and feels betrayed nevertheless. Mental.

'In his plan' is quite different with 'promise game time' imo. 'In his plan' would very well means 'you're a backup' or 'backup of a backup'.

Agree he had plenty of game time so far anyway.
