What a sad way for him to see out his career, top of his game for 15 years pretty much the ultimate professional throughout it and this is how he ends it, in the arms of that little goblin interviewing him.

Sorry to Bruno and Dalot but I hope Portugal go home early And Licha snaps the Cnut.

Implying our best goalscorer of all time is a rat. He didnt directly say it. And Wazza was man enough to admit there is not a footballer (except Messi) that really wasn't jelaous of him.
Wow. I couldn't stomach the first three minutes of the interview and I really dont know if I could go through the whole ordeal.

The only thing I can say in his defence is still his poor english that can be viewed differently. But he is a smart prick with a big ego and nasty intentions and he has learned how to conduct himself in this situations and especially in a set up interview like this one.
Calling his critic rats is what gets me in general, no respect. He talks about not criticising people and being a role model.

He shows glimpses of his personality, the interview could just be a persona too but that's genuinely what he called his critics. Toxic person

"Oh it's absolutely true that I was close to joining City, don't want to press on the pitch, haven't had respect for either of my last two managers, have issues with some of my younger teammates, think I deserve special treatment, thought I was the one treated unfairly after I refused to play and consider people who criticise me to be betrayers and rats. But, it's a lie that other clubs didn't want me, some did, so there."

Read through a shedload of the quotes. Not exactly as scandalous as relayed is it?
It was depicted as being slating everyone and everything about the club and an absolute no go to every return.
Calling Rooney a rat, not so scandalous?

OK, now the circus is over... when are we kicking him out?

The club has all the information they need to make a proper statement this week.

It was a meltdown to coming to that time, Ian Wright probably the only one speaking sense when he said he should probably get some counselling for it..

So this was 100% not true?

In a way — if this is the case — I do think there is at least ONE reason for Ronaldo to be fed up.

Like if everyone is reporting that De Gea has requested out and is fed up with the organization or whatever — and there is zero truth to it — the club would instantly make that clear.

But it just don’t add up, did I misunderstand it?

Agree.

I think Piers released the most juicy but beforehand, the rest was tame compared to the snippets he leaked before the interviews.

Saying that, undermining the manager should be enough reason to move him on. Hopefully United and Ronaldo can come to some sort of agreement to end it mutually.

Has he called Rooney a rat now? That’s crossing a line surely, if anything he’s got some weird obsession with Rooney, he constantly talks about the things he’s said. Does he think Rooney is the spokesperson for all of England or something?

Can someone help me out with the rat comment? Feel like that's a bit lost in translation (for me), doesn't he say "Rooney and the (other) rats?" That doesn't necessarily include Rooney being a rat, but looking at the thread I'm getting this wrong

its mental he went home stunned and victimised about being suspended for 3 DAYS, after refusing to come on and walking out.

He means his critics are rats by what he said verbatim

He really should have waited until he hung up his boots to have this interview.

The most likely scenario is that it is true but because no one was interested in him it has hurt his ego and has decided to spin a load of bullshit.

Thing is the media always use his name for clicks and I'm sure he knows that, I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of stories are BS . He could have just nipped it all in the bud at the time, but he kept silent which fueled the rumours more.

He didn’t call Rooney a rat, just used rat in the same sentence.

Taking that comment literally at face value, it would mean he's bundling Rooney in with the other 'rats'. Whether its lost in translation or otherwise its a disgraceful comment to make.

Saying other rats means he’s already referencing one so he’s calling Rooney a rat

Technically he said "Rooney and the rest of the rats", which would imply Rooney is a rat too.

But in reality his English isn't so good that you could be certain he intended it to be that harsh on Rooney.

He said Rooney and the rest of the rats. He's basically called Rooney a rat.

to be fair, it was Morgan who again brought up Rooney in this instance ... and Morgan obviously hates Rooney with a passion (and vice versa). Ronaldo just took the bait, as he constantly did during the interview. Obviously Ronaldo is a massive bellend in all of this, but don't underestimate Morgans manipulation techniques during the interview.

I'm probably in a minority here, but I reckon both sides might form an unlikely 6 month truce.

Otherwise we'll be left basically relying on Rashy/Martial for 6months, and he's got to somehow find a club akin to United for status, but one he'll play more often at!
I think both sides will be struggling here.

Ronaldo was going to tell the truth which would explain everything. NOTHING in this interview was not already known.

Except — if I understood it correctly — him claiming that he never wanted out this summer, teams where making offers for him, but he turned them down because he was happy to stay in Manchester.

That is a half big deal.

You're reading it the way you want to read it.
He didn't say "Rooney is a rat". He was light heartedly saying "and the other rats" when Rooney's criticism came up.

Yeah I don't see this as nailed on as others, it doesn't have to mean calling Rooney a rat. It's also a minor thing in the grand scheme of things, this whole interview was a disaster, especially for him

We'll never know the truth for sure, fans will believe what they want to believe.

The smart money is obviously still on a parting of ways, but I wouldn't rule out some sort of arrangement to last until the summer still.

Why would Ronaldo agree to a truce?
