To be fair I'm not sure what the alternate tactic is. There aren't enough technical players among that lot to play enterprising football. If the football is going to change it's probably something that would have to be done over an entire buildup to a tournament, but whether that would get the desired results when the endgame is really just to qualify is hard to say.
