We know what Foden can do and we know what he can't do. It's like Maguire in a low block. Low block good, high block heart stopping especially for the ball in behind.
Foden likes to play between the lines. He needs space to do this. He needs other players, especially his forward making this space. Kane is also dropping between the lines. Therefore Foden must run beyond, something he's not even very good at. Hence Foden looking rubbish.
No point in playing him with Kane dropping off. We'd be better served playing Saka or Sterling there, to run in behind when Kane drops off.

People are always going from one end to other with Maguire. It's a nothing game and he's had one good attacking move which he ended with ridiculous shot from impossible angle. And he's had one or two good long balls out wide. That's literally his entire performance, of course nothing wrong with it.
