It's in the ball, that is how Old Big Head didn't get Bruno's goal, but not sure how it would affect this as not about impact.
It is dependent on detectors, that I am pretty sure are only on the goal line. The technology can detect if a goal is scored or not but don't think it works all the way along the line.

What odds would you have got on Morocco and Japan topping groups E and F?

Japan have came on so much as a nation in football in the last 20-30 years.

Congrats to them, absolutely fantastic achievement

I didn't watch Japan - Spain. Any evidence of some fancy work by Spanish or Japan won fairly and Spain tried to win?
Spain were Spain in the first half, then didn't show up for the second, Japan were really good, and once Germany took back the lead Spain put in a "totally believable" effort to avoid defeat

What a night - you love to see it!

Nine goals - and I didn't see a single feckin one of them.

Next time I'm going to lob the remote behind the sofa and just stick to one game.

Does it not go to head to head first if tied on points?

If this Japan goal was ruled out and it stays 1-1 Spain and Japan are still through no or is it GD GS between Germany and Japan if sat on 4 points each?

The ball doesn’t go flat up. It’s called a ball for a reason Souness. It may look over if looking at the ground level but that’s not how shapes and objects work

I'd rather watch Poland play Wales than Spain play another game of football.

Can't imagine how smug Japan's manager is feeling now. He shut everyone up.

Damn, for one minute my dream of seeing Spain being eliminated came to reality. At least that COS-GER game was fun as hell to watch.
Also great job by the trio of female refs, Frappard being her solid usual self.

Jp won fairly.
Spain only tried to win in the first half and when costa rica winning 2-1(which wouldve knocked Spain and Germany out). They didnt play with urgency for majority of the time

Germany shot themselves in the foot by scoring 2-2 too early. Meant Spain had no incentive to score and help Germany in the process.

I reckon they fancied their chances against Morocco and Portugal, rather than face Croatia and then Brazil in the Quarters.

I’m not that surprised to see Germany out. What was surprising is how Spain looked flat after their opening game.
