Why did Zidane retire when he did? He wanted to retire while still on top. Nit just doing a job.
Well, Ronaldo is more cynical about being past it, now he doesn't care about playing well as soon as he scores a tap-in.

This is why I believe he will play until his early 40s, he is all about individual records, and doesn't care much about the rest...in 10 years he is gonna be worried if Haaland and Mbappe come close to his CL record, might even come out of retirement in his early 50s, just to try to prevent his record to be taken.

Take away that 5 mins of sheer madness vs Saudis and this Argentina side look rock solid
For balance, they've played absolutely dogshite teams. Poland, Mexico, Saudi and Australia are all rubbish. All teams Argentina should comfortably dispatch.

More impressed about how solid they are. But I've seen nothing that would make them clear favourites vs the Netherlands
Definitely going to be a cagey match. Netherlands won't find it easy either, I just hope it's a good game.

His best game of the 4 was the one he didn’t score in vs Poland

But in all he is absolutely delivering this World Cup
Agree he rolled back the years in that Poland game.

He's been OK for the rest but obviously with those moment of magic to score.

Messi has always been better than Ronaldo, wtf were we talking about.
Honestly, I don’t know. I think it was loyalty, but I always always knew deep down that Messi was a special complete player and Ronaldo was just a physical monster with a pathological need to be great to the point where he overworks himself. Everything with Ronaldo is fine-tuned and laboured; Messi is godly.

It fecking sucks that this is probably the last time we will see Messi play in a major tournament. Hard to imagine there being another player as good as him in my lifetime.

But now it really starts of course. Holland, possibly Brazil and then anyone out of France, Spain or England.

2-1 but this is just going to go the way Netherlands-USA went, right?
