Fulham would make sense. Bobby Reid has been getting games for them at RB.

If Wan-Bissaka isn't even going to play in dead rubbers for us, we may as well cut losses now and get what we can back.

Maguire played on the opposite side to him for every game unless I’m mistaken and there’s 1 or 2 exceptions, but of course other players being awful is actually his fault.
Did you understand I was implying the whole fecking team was awful yes? Including Bissaka but in our awfulness we made it harder for each other by not making passing options? Maguire, Lindelof all had the same issue in that our play was so bad barely anyone ever made an option for the man on the ball.
Did you just see the name “Maguire“ and get triggered or something?

“His only option was Maguire” is your precise quote. Which is bollocks, for the reason I pointed out.

Also please learn how to correctly use the term “trigger” if you’re going to use it. Words have meanings you know.

Yes which you seem to have trouble with or just reading in general. The sentence was, “ His only option was give it back to Maguire or punt it down the wing” it’s funny that the important part you’re missing is after the name Maguire. Which really just makes me think even more that you saw that name and were triggered.

I wasn’t even having a pop at Maguire, you just decided to take it that way. Again proving that you were triggered.

Anyway enough of this nonsense. We were a terrible team that didn’t help each other which to me made a lot of our players including your boo, look worse on the ball than they are.

Now wind your neck back in.

You used an example that just doesn’t work, if you’d named Lindelof or even Varane (AKA, something that were accurate) then there was absolutely truth to what you said, just like there would have been truth if you were talking about Luke Shaw only having Maguire to pass to, but instead you decided to go with a scapegoat that makes no logical sense. So you were rightly called out for being wrong. The fact is Wan-Bissaka looks shit because he is, in fact, shit.

Also again, please learn what words mean, and simmer the feck down while you’re at it.

Do you know what “triggered” means? Because it doesn’t seem you do. And no, again I wasn’t taking a swipe at Maguire. You just took it that way. And by the way if you really want to be pedantic there are occasions where Maguire was on the right, but again I just picked our most consistently played centre back to indicate the only options the fullbacks really had was to pass back you our defenders or punt it up the wing. As in they only had 1 safe pass which was back to defence. Nothing cynical about it, just you making a mountain out of a mole hill and continuing to do so because you won’t just apologise for overreacting or misreading. It’s why forums are such toxic places.

I wish I had written “ pass back to a CB” So I didn’t have to waste my time with this nonsense but you’ve seen the name Maguire and been triggered.

”triggered” activated by a trigger, in your case the name Maguire.

I do know what the word triggered means, it’s you who evidently doesn’t. I have no problem with criticism of Maguire, when it’s warranted, which it wasn’t so I pointed that out. Maguire moved to the right under Rangnick well after Wan-Bissaka was punted out of the side.

If you’re going to use examples make them accurate, it’s not difficult.

WB was the pick of 100+ RBs according to Woodward. What a joke that bloke was, not even mentioning Oles involvement . Now Utd will have to lose 35-40 mill moving him on. I hope we sell him, not loan him out.

I’m surprised there isn’t more interest in him. He’s a solid defensive RB, just not for a top team that has to attack in the majority of games.

One of the worst signings we ever did, and one of the worst regular players to have ever played for us.

Lot of decent English RBs around at the moment though and everyone thinks their team can ball these days. If he were left footed there'd be loads of takers I think. If I were him I'd fancy a move abroad, maybe Italy where people wouldn't put him under so much pressure on the ball (like Smalldini). Not sure he's that sort of guy though, probably will stay in England.

For a team like Burnley sure. He came with a reputation of great 1v1 defending but certainly last season he forgot how to do that. Was always showing his winger the wrong side and getting his CBs in trouble.

Think it’s a confidence thing with him which is understandable, considering how badly things went last season.

Personally find it a shame way his career has gone here. I knwo not many will agree but I thought he was a really good signing at the time, thought he would really be figting it out with Reece James and TAA as the future ENgland right back.

His decision making isnt great but I think going forward he is slated as much as some right backs are praised goign forward when he isnt any worse in a lot of aspects. If he could improve his positioning defensively he could still be a really good right back.

I think he could be a really good signing for someone like West Ham. There was a period a couple of seasons ago where he seemed to consciously be playing things really simple when he got the ball, moving it on quickly and he looked like progressing.....sadly he has regressed since we signed him in the lon grun here though

I was actually happy when he was signed because I thought with his tools, he might turn out to be great under more competent guidance but he never improved, especially on the ball. He is an absolute car crash on the ball. Like playing with one man less. And his defending and positioning got worse every season. If he wants to revive his career trajectory he needs to spend every second of training time working on his on-ball ability. 50 million pounds wasted.

I think there is a really good defender in there and the right environment will unlock it. I think his confidence is shot at United and he’s done now because our fans don’t have the patience for long term development. It’s in his best to move on.
At times he did look like he was progressing but also seems to have regressed again. I can’t fully blame him, imagine playing right back beside laurel and hardy mostly where they pass sideways continually until pressed then they fire you a hospital ball.
good luck to him

Yes, completely agree with this and also never really had a good right winger in front of him to gel with either

I really, really disagree. I also think you get it backwards. Lindelof and Maguire was a lot more progressive than AWB. And all stats support that. It was so weird that people prefered AWB over Dalot.

I also think your forgiveness for AWB and «hate» for Lindelof is absurd. If both where to leave Man Utd this january, I’m sure Lindelof would attract bigger clubs and with a significantly higher fee + wage.

I get it backwards? I’ve seen numerous occasions where Lindelof & Maguire pfaffed about with the ball under the guise of playing out from the back, panic when pressed and give it out to AWB usually when the attacker is almost upon him.

im sure you’re right that Lindelof will fetch more, that doesn’t bother me. They are all (Maguire, Lindelof, AWB) not good enough.

I will not argue against that, but I’ve never seen a fullback at Man Utd send such a large share of his passes to the closest CB. And he often did that in a manner that escaleted pressure. I think the austrian coach at Southampton even made a point about how he built traps around how poor AWB was in build up-phase.

I’ve just watched highlights of his debut versus Chelsea. The player we have now is a poor imitation of the one we bought. He’s had his confidence shattered

In terms of passing, I think he was the same in his first season. Also at CP.

It's only even remotely weird with hindsight.

Early years Dalot couldn't defend and offered no more than Wan Bissaka offensively.
Early Wan Bissaka put some really good defensive performances in.

This version of Dalot looks really promising and makes us glad we kept him on board, when many would have booted him into dodge early doors.
This version of Wan Bissaka looks utterly demoralised, to such a level that he can't even get in to give Dalot the occasional game off.

It's going to hurt how much a hit we take on his fee.

Like most of the players we want out — the issue will largely be over wages.

Eh no, he has always been the same. Good tackling abilities, high energy and a lot of running and covering grounds, but poor technically and over reliant on his tackling to compensate for his other average defensive abilities.

Have a look at early days, his padding is crisper, he’s not afraid to take players on, his blocking and tackling are all on point.
Yes he’s always had positional aspects to work on, his heading is non existent (probably worse than Lindelof!).
i wouldn’t say that he’s poor technically, it makes him sound like the football is a hot potatoe and I’ve always disagreed with that as I’ve witnessed him dribble out of tight spots. He’s not that player that has so much potential anymore. We’ve broken him

Nah, he's always been positionally and technically poor. You don't just lose the ability to pass the ball, he's always done those shitty bobbly passes and scopping it away witht he edge of his boot.

Debut for Man Utd 2019

Basically no difference from then to now. Thank feck we don't have to look at this anymore.

He can pull out an occasional good dribbling move but more often than not he won't be able to, so yes I have also witnessed some good attacking patterns from him, but they were scarce and don't occur often which made them kinda stand out. Most of the times, though, he'll fail to dribble or make the critical pass or cross.

For me the real problem hasnt even been that he is gash on the ball. He is, but the bigger challenge is that his positioning is absolutely horrible. The number of times he lets an attacker get behind him is insane.

Ive always been a fan and thought he would be a really good player here. Cant disagree with his positioning though, it really lets him down.

I do however find it strange people commentin ghow poor he is on the ball, his passing and crossing and final ball. His decision making is poor in that area.....yet so many are laudign Dalot this season....apart from carryign the ball his delivery is just as poor and inconsistent and tackling 1/1 there is only one winner. Dalot has improved positionally, his decision makign is better and he is good defending crosses as well....but i think both players have loads of different flawas, if you put them together you would have a truly awful defender......if you put together there good points, still lacking in areas.

Neither long term now install confidene in me as our starting right back overall, which I appreciate is harsh with how Dalot has performed so far this season.....but there are a couple of right backs in France neither of which are the finished article but have huge potential in Gusto and Vanderson and a fair few others aroudn Europe.

We looked well stocked with Bissaka, DAlot and Laird a couple fo years ago....not sure any are good enough to be number one and only Laird maybe would be happy to be second choice, its one of four positions in our starting eleven I think we should be really looking to improve

Yes, I think a lot of his problem was confidence-related. He was a very fine tackling defender when he first arrived, but clearly lacked some ability when going forward. He's not terrible, though, in any respect, and would (as others have remarked) do well at many clubs where the pressure on him would not be so great. He just doesn't really suit us.
