He did feck all before scoring the hat trick
Literally feck all

It was way too obvious he lost his scoring consistency. It also shows how easily brainwashed people are when it comes to Ronaldo. Some were literally thinking he was gonna play at top level till he was in his 40s
Fact remains that scoring 3 in a 3-2 victory is not ‘stat padding’ ffs!

I'd retire if I were him. He has enough money, and he's gonna hate playing outside the top level. He seems to be having a hard time dealing with this as it is, spending a couple of years not enjoying what you do wouldn't be good for him. Or at least he could go to the US, not the same money but he'd enjoy living there with all the attention he'd get as a celebrity, and the MLS is a decent competition.

You don't think Messi has declined absolutely incredibly over the years already!?
Less declined, more evolved. He's still arguably the best player in the world, just now in a slightly different role.

An admission on his part that his glory days at the top end of football are over. Never thought he’d be playing in Saudi Arabia but then again I never anticipated his performances to decline as dramatically as they have

Messi is 2yrs younger than Ronaldo so can still play for another 2 years at the top level before he starts to decline
Messi is the GOAT, but he already is looking washed in the UCL against good opposition tbh.

He is hacking it in Ligue 1 with PSG, Ronaldo could hack it in France too if he was 2 years younger..

37 years old Messi won't be in Europe probably.

He’d 100% not go to the states, his rape accuser and her lawyers would have a field day if he resided there. Would be terrible PR for his brand and cost him a fortune.

This just makes his tantrums at United even more bizarre. Wasn't the whole point to play in the Champions League?? He'll now be facing teams from the likes of S. Korea, Japan, Iran, Iraq, Australia, China, Thailand & Syria etc. Just doesn't make any sense.

Imagine the scenes of it not working out over there and ending up on the bench? Even somebody on Wikipedia's taking the piss with the Al Nassr squad:

I remember players like Hagi, Drogba and Sneijder in Galatasaray, Roberto Carlos in Fenerbahce, Cissé in Panathinaikos or Rivaldo in Olympiacos. I imagine it would be comfortable living, great weather, great food, he would be adored like a God in Turkey or Greece and he would have a chance to play UCL football.

Otherwise I think it would be very smart PR to do a world tour ending of his career. He should just copy paste David Villa who had a very nice end to his career. Of course you could add one year in Arabia to complete the list below.

Melbourne - 4 games, 2 goals, 0 assists
New York City FC - 126 games, 80 goals, 21 assists
Vissel Kobe - 29 games, 13 goals, 2 assists

Would be sad news if true. IMO he should try his hardest to keep his CL record, especially after he has make such a scene to burn the bridge with us. Although it might be a challenge for him to find a decent CL club now.

I don’t know why there are still people keep suggesting that. Both the criminal court and civil court has long dismissed the case, with no option of appeal. How could the accuser possibly do anything in future against the law of court?

There's no shame in a soon to be 38 year old admitting he's finished. It is Ronaldo who has turned this into a big deal.

I think that was blown out of proportion. He’s obviously chasing the money and why wouldn’t he want to double his personal wealth in 3 years?
Imo chasing CL records, a record he already holds, was a red herring

He had the chance to leave for Saudi Arabia in the summer and turned it down. I think he wanted to go to a UCL team to extend his record further but no-one wanted him.
Then falls out with the club and does the interview to get himself sacked so the club cant get a transfer fee for him because they done him wrong.
My view anyway.
Not disputing the fact if someone offered me that amount of money I would be straight over, worst case you can use the money for charity work etc and donate it all and repair your image.
Or Scrooge McDuck it and go swimming in a vault of it.

It does make sense, he will score goals again and be their best player. That's all he needs

He could play for a lot of CL clubs but the greedy cnut wants paid like he's still in his prime.
That's the only reason for the Al Nassr move, Greed.

I think it's more to do with the fact that he wouldn't be a guaranteed stater for a Champions League team, and he can't handle being a bench player.

Either way, if he is done in the top 5 leagues, then Messi is 1 goal away in total career goals for top 5 clubs.
If we include internationals, Messi is 21 goals away.
He'll surely topple him in both.

He is guarantee income of 40-50m a year anyway from his sponsorships/brand products/Instagram posts alone, money shouldn’t be the main factor. With over 500m followings in social media, he is guarantee tens of millions of free money every year.

However, if he also loss his all time records to Messi, he will loss his special spot in football history, which I think would do too much damage to his legacy, than to just earning 100-200m more over next 3 years.

Imagine the commercial potential of selling his own brand as the player with most goals in football history over next (few) decades. He should do his utmost best to maintain those records.

Didn’t he already deny this twice? That’s gonna be embarrassing… well, more so.

He could be playing in the Premier League, for one of the World’s most famous clubs, in an only slightly reduced role, racking up a few more goals which would be shown around the world, for a fanbase that love him, and then gotten to bow out on his own terms at the end of the season, maybe even having helped us win a trophy!

And he absolutely fecked it, all by himself. The big shiny pillock.

 that's kinda the best part isn't it? He genuinely thought he'd storm out of United, announce to the world he wants CL football and expect a flood of clubs fighting over him.

Reality must have hit his ego pretty hard in the last 2 months. It just shows how BS the CL football line was though. He's now chosen more money over taking less and joining a CL club.

He strikes me as one of these people that once he retires he's going to be a giant cnut as he's not going to be able to hack the "normal" life and he'll end up just being a corporate whore for money all over the place.

People forget he had a couple of scoring droughts last season. They just bleat "18 goals, 18 goals" without actually realising he wasn't as prolific as it seems. Pretty sure at one point he had 1 goal in 7 games which was a penalty against Norwich
His most consistent spell was after we were out of the cups and the team (him included) were down to one game a week.

Which goes to show that he might still be a valuable player if he allowed the manager to use him sparingly, just like SAF did with Rio in his last couple of seasons.

I still remember one of his deluded fanboys on here insisting that he's Lewandowski's "ideal replacement" at Bayern and that they'll sign him and he'll 'shut up the haters'.
Bayern have Choupo-Moting, they don't need Ronaldo. Still feels weird to write this, but currently it's absolutely true.

Maybe he will have a phoenix like reborn next season. Scoring 70 goals in all comps and winning Champions League with Al Nassr.

What a sad end to a great career. He really thought he was gonna be indemand after leaving us. He really shouldnt have done that interview. It has turned back to bite him on the backside.

His personality is as big a problem as his playing ability. If he was a player that would be content on the bench and not kick up a fuss, he might actually have one or two takers in Europe. That said, I'm not sure how many greats would move to a club at the end of their career playing a bit part role.

Out of interest, will you be getting Al-Nassr number 7 jersey?

Couldn't care less where he goes now or what he does, just glad he's no longer our problem and we're not having to see the endless discussion of ''ronaldo needs to start'' before every game where his groupies would begin turning on the manager saying he disrespected Ronaldo

Don't most do that exact thing? His behaviour and attitude is so far away from normal, and quite funnily it's his downfall.
