Caf’s wet dream circa 2014. So of course we’re signing him a lifetime later.

Can’t say I’ve been following him much. Has he had much football in the last few years?

Not really, back up to Guita at Palace for the past few years

Sounds like a permanent deal as in the article it says he's a free agent in the summer but we will look to bring him in now.
First line of the article said that we will look to bring him in for the second half of the season. But I couldn't read any more of it as I'm not subscribed.

Thanks for clearing it up

How many GKs have we signed in the past 5 years?
And out of all of them only Romero was the reliable one.

It's not really conclusive so it could be a 6 month deal:

Butland is free to talk to clubs about a pre-contract for next season as his deal at Selhurst Park expires in less than six months but United have moved to bring him in immediately as back-up to David de Gea.

The length of his deal at Palace means fees are likely to be nominal for a player with Premier League experience. Tom Heaton is also at Old Trafford as No 3 in the group of goalkeepers.

Wouldn't he be number 3 behind Heaton?
There wouldn't be any point signing him if he was coming in as 3rd choice. There must be something Ten Hag doesn't like about Heaton to have signed Dubravka and now Butland to play ahead of him. Weird one too because I'm not convinced either of them are better than him, Butland certainly isn't.

We should be going for Sommer, someone who can actually challenge De Gea...

I really like Jack, has played a few games for us over the last couple of seasons and never really let us down…also had an absolute worldy away at Brighton last season which always helps.

Hasn’t managed to dislodge Guaita though and we also have Sam Johnstone so I guess the train of thought from our side is that we can better spend his wages elsewhere. Good luck to him.

Has any team signed more keepers than us in the last few years?

Johnstone is a top backup GK to have. I would have rather got him back to the club.

We're definitely living in a simulation because we sign goalkeepers in the exact same way teams do on there.

Was looking good 6-7 years ago when he first broke through at Stoke. Had a horrible period of form when they went down and first season back in championship and never really recovered and since then happy just to be a number 2.

Actually think Guaita is arguably most underrated prem keeper around. Makes the odd error but his all round game is very solid indeed and makes all the standard regulation saves you'd expect.

One game but for example I don't think Everton would've come back to beat you 3-2 end of last season if he was in, commands his box better than Butland does.
