So this is ETH number 1 target for this month? Think he knows how important it is to not only just get squad depth but to get quality squad depth. He can play multiple positions across the frontline and even give Bruno a rest and the quality shouldn’t drop.
Still could do with a striker who can give us a different dimension as well, however no chance in hell we are getting both

Will take more than that Utd especially when Atletico know about the money saved from Ronaldo's wages
Don’t think we should go mad and offer what they want. We don’t want to put in an option to buy clause so they should take a bit of money of us now and then sell him for whatever they want in the summer when he’ll have more interested teams if he has a decent spell with us.

Agreed. I’d be happy with Thuram or Felix tbh. Both offer something completely different. Felix is a much more luxury signing with more quality. He’ll also give us an option to rest Bruno without dropping the quality in standard.

Plus the risk of Felix getting injured or being a failure in the EPL and losing resale value in the summer.
Hope he comes in and makes an instant impact if we do get him. Thinking if Chelsea sneak Murdyk from under Arsenals noses then Arsenal will go all in for Felix.

Think it will eventually happen.
People are after a pure goal scorer and I understand that sentiment but people forget our final third decision making and sustaining possession in advanced areas is very poor. We saw another example of that yesterday in the first half.
Joao Felix will go some way in helping that.

Yeah there is that but still doesn't give us that CF cover for Martial who can chip in with goals too

Why don't we get the best of both worlds and try to do deals for Felix and Depay. Morata doesn't look to be an option and can't afford Thuram either.

My hunch is this is who ETH wants, and the haggling is playing out in public through the media. The opportunity to link up with Bruno and Dalot is enticing no doubt, especially with Bruno.

So what will actually happen is Chelsea swoop in with a £90m bid when it looks like it’s getting close with United and Felix :p

Memphis will probably be a multi year contract and is he much of a goal scorer.

Didn't he play and score at the weekend, meaning this tweet is bs.
He apparently hasn't trained since the window opened and hasn't been included in their Copa Del Rey squad today.

Playing on the weekend yet not traveling with them today is strange...

This seems to be the only constant rumour for us at the moment.

That said I’m not sure the media know much about what we are planning anymore.

At least it’s getting more palatable. It was 18m euros last I saw. If we can get it done for around 6-8m, plus wages, I suppose that’s okay. Still a lot for 6 months though.
It will be 5 months by the time he gets here, hardly enough time to even settle really and it depends if his heart is in it, he might fancy London instead.

I think we should look slightly down the big name stakes and go for someone who would be desperate to play for United for the reminder of the season.

How much is he on? It was a crazy transfer at the time. I might be wrong but think it was funded by Griezmann.
12m a year if the 6m for 6 months is accurate. That’s 230k a week and I do not believe he’s signed a new contract since joining them.

To be fair that match was in December. Still bullshit though
Love how we can confidently say that something is “bullshit” which in effect is also claiming that their opinion on something is most likely the correct one. Without having any sources of their own to back it up.

Because those “not returning to training” stories come up all the time and they’re only true like 5% of the time. I meant to say “probably bullshit” anyway but whatever.

Who are we to claim that though? Where’s this 5% marker come from? We all like to shit on journo’s for “making things up” but aren’t we doing the same?

Because they’re usually rubbished days later. Hell, it literally just happened with Enzo Fernandez like two days ago. Report comes out he’s skipped training to go back to Argentina, pitchforks come out, then another story comes out the next day saying he had permission to miss training and go back to Argentina.

Why do we keep bending over for these fecking spanish clubs? Based on the terms being brandished, that would be such a terrible loan deal for us. He has them over a barrell and yet we are willing to loan him with no option at all to buy? What if he rediscovers his form with us and morphs into the world beater everyone believes he can be? We'll basically have helped Atletico develop their own player and paid them for the privilege of it. Zero upside exposure and the downside of having to foot the bill for his salary which i'm sure is significant. What a joke.

It's a bit surprising Atleti won't relent on the loan fee if Felix is so determined to leave. A loan should be beneficial for them if they can put him in the shop window and there isn't a huge queue of teams who can even afford his wages.

€4m for a half season loan would be more than fair given the circumstances.

Or are they carefully PR pieces to save the rep of both the player and the club? Fact of the matter is we will never know what goes on behind closed doors and we most of the time will know what clubs want us to know. Hell, look at this:

A lot of Ronaldo’s bad behaviour was never made public.

No, we will never truly know. That’s obvious. But it’s entirely fair for us as third parties to call things bullshit when they don’t sound quite right. Maybe Felix isn’t in training, maybe he’s injured, maybe he’s on strike. We don’t know but I would believe he’s actually injured far more than he’s on strike. If we didn’t have these kinds of takes about what goes on in football, be it on the pitch or in the background there’s no real need for forums like this, is there?

Anyone know how long is DVB out for? Looked a pretty serious injury during the game. Think it will only accelerate our need to complete signing this guy as we now have zero cover for Bruno as well in addition to Martial. I will definitely take this guy only if its to cover Bruno but not as a striker though. Don't think he has the attributes to play as a striker.

I think Felix is our number 1 target for this window. Otherwise it does not make sense why we haven't signed players like Thuram when they are gettable and also available for cheap.
If we can finish this signing in a week it would be good as we dont have a game until 14th.

The way it looked (torn ligaments), probably til next January and then we'll probably sell. He'll be injured through the summer.

We might be negotiating for both but thuram would rightly want a 4 to 5 year deal and I suspect we’d offer much shorter and lower salary than his camp will be expecting

We haven't done anything and it's unlikely we will.
