A draw wouldn’t be a bad result if we’re looking to consolidate our top 4 chances whereas only a win would keep any slim hope of a title challenge alive. So, it’s tricky.

Obviously not everyone is static. The play was over on the right side of the pitch and pretty much everyone in both teams had moved over that way. Ronaldo had come over to the right to get closer to the ball and Rashford had drifted more central (still the furthest left player in our team though). He's being covered by the fullback and makes his run between him and the right centre back. Indeed that's just about Rashford's trademark run which he scores a significant amount of his goals from.
Fair enough. We see him do that a lot run central even though he’s playing from the left.

I doubt McT gets thrown into a starting 11 so abruptly and that too against league leaders.. I have a strong feeling Licha starts as DM next to Fred.. Malacia although shambolic against Arsenal last time around, has improved lately and might start again.. I think the city game was a test for him and he did fairly well.. and Shaw will continue as LCB as Licha is needed at DM..

I hope my predictions are right because the sight of McT at DM would be a huge risk specially if we concede first.. not saying he hasn’t been good the few games he did play as DM this season but the theme should be to disrupt arsenals midfield dynamic and McT just isn’t the one to do that in my opinion..

I'd take a draw but knowing our luck we'll be winning 2-0 and then concede 2 goals in injury time
2 freekicks where the foul took place on the halfway line, but then taken on the D of the box, and the defending wall pushed back to behind the goal by the ref.

Im not confident but all the same will predict a very scrappy 0-1 win.

I wonder if he might try Lisandro in DM and play Shaw/Varane at CB

Lisandro can't be worse than McFred, their midfield would eat them for lunch

Fred and Mct to mark Partey and Odegaard - I think Erikson will sit deeper as well. Looks like a 1-1 to me.

I cannot understand the return to the Fred McT option that most are proposing, it did not work and is not a alternative to Casemiro, would rather straight swap for Fred and hope he has one of his good games, better that than mess around with the whole formation, I think Weghorst will start with Rashford, not sure what we have in attack beyond that.

I have a strangely upbeat feel about today. Hope we hustle them and give them a good slapping.

First 20 mins is going to be key here. They always come out very fast out the blocks. If we can withstand that early pressure and be in the game, then it’ll give us something to build from.

    Question.

How significant is Arsenal being the only team to not play City in terms of maintaining their run of form?

It's obviously easy enough to say that they could have eaten a loss from City and still be top, which is true, however, aside from the defeat to us they haven't faced the one team who could defeat them. Now, 3 points is 3 points, you'll say, but I'm talking about the mental and psychological ramifications of a loss to your direct rivals and how that chain-effect plays off in subsequent games.

    Surely it's considerable.

It's hard to say but I think this Arsenal side would still have done well even if they played City and lost. They played us and lost but didn't let their heads drop. Teams like Liverpool and Chelsea being poor has helped too, in the past Arsenal would have probably lost or drew these games.

Like I said other day a draw still gives us a "tiny chance" IF we beat Palace & Leeds home and away before they face City. Get that gap at 5 and yes they would have games in hand I get that.

Feel quite sick saying this but want City to beat Wolves in earlier KO just to apply a bit of pressure on Arsenal in terms of closing the gap.

Big day today. First my team, which have looked clueless ever since Schreuder took the wheel, needs to beat Feyenoord to have any title aspirations at all. Then you lot are going to remind me what a top manager ETH is.

The had a very favourable start which game them momentum but the key thing is they've had very few injuries to contend with.

Yeah missing Jesus hasn't been an issue at all, think things would look different if it was Partey/Odegaard that's for sure

    From the interview

"I have many leaders in De Gea, Varane, Eriksen and Shaw. He has shown so much progress in his personality and leading by example, I have no worries about leadership and with this team, we beat them the first time and in this team, we have confidence.
 Didn't even mention Maguire. Memes.

They're a better team than us currently with fewer weak links, and less fatigue. Also we just don't have a lot of goals in us. I'm predicting an honourable defeat, maybe 2-1 or 3-1.

Anyway, a defeat isn't a disaster. We then go on a run of winnable league games so top 4 remains very much on.

    Nah, feck that.

We do what we did at OT. They have a good portion of the ball, they carry the ball and everyone squeezes up high and we do what we've done excellently all season. Our transition game from back to front is on point. They'll leave a high line, we'll get our chances, especially with Marcus.
