McTominay scares me at DM. Ole played him there all the time and its just something that Rangnick and in turn Ten Hag decided to keep doing (in Casemiro's absence). The thing is didnt seem to learn anything from his time training with Matic and seemingly isnt learning from Case either. I know people say its not his natural position but as with a lot of ETHs players its important to have a bit of versatility. And this guy has none.
People keep saying Erik isn't keen to play Licha at CDM but how do we know he hasn't tried it in training last couple of days and maybe thinks very differently now

I don't quite understand why people are making things up. There was a time when Casemiro couldn't get into the team because of McTominay's superb performances as a 6.

That's not me saying McTominay is better, obviously. However, he put in some really good performances there, notably against Liverpool and Arsenal, and so, as fans, instead of saying how shite you think he is, we should be hoping he can do that again tomorrow.

    Strongest XI on paper:

    Goalkeeper - De Gea
    Back four - United
    Midfield - Equal
    Front three - Arsenal

    Ramsdale
    White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
    Partey
    Odegaard Xhaka
    Saka Jesus Martinelli

    vs

    Rashford Martial Antony
    Eriksen Bruno
    Casemiro
    Shaw Martinez Varane Dalot
    De Gea

Although we won't have our strongest XI available to us tomorrow, when you look at both teams, they're few and far between in regards to ability.

Significant difference is, Arteta is three years in and ten Hag has only just started. With a few additions next season, I think we'll be well on our way.
Yeah we are around 30 months behind

    Martial and Dalot didn’t travel
Not in the least bit surprised,Tony is becoming such a liability with his fitness issues. Can see Wout starting now because Erik doesn't have any chance to ease in

Martial is such a useless player. Clearly he can't be relied upon, if it wasn't already obvious for the last 3-4 years.

Our only chance is if Ten Hag goes 3-5-2 and even then at best we'll get a draw.

Basically I'm more disappointed that we dropped 2 points at Palace than about potential loss tomorrow. Don't get humiliated (though I'm worried without Casemiro and with McTominay) and I'm fine with it. Few rivals dropped points this weekend already anyways.

With Martial not travelling, I'd much prefer us to start with Weghorst up top, as it will allow us to bring on Garnacho to make a difference as he did against City.

Weghorst will also give us the option of going long, which could be an option to beat Arsenal's high press.

If we planning on playing on the counter then we have to stick rashford up top and garnacho left. Rashford scored both goals through the middle against them last time.

Really don’t know what team Ten Hag is going to go with tomorrow. Casemiro being suspended after a silly, needless lunge against Palace will have thrown his gameplan out the window as McTominay coming in is a massive drop off but seems like we’ve got no other choice here. Fred needs to play and do a similar man marking job on Odegaard like he done on De Bruyne last weekend. I reckon Bruno will start on the right again.

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka - Varane - Martinez - Shaw

    McTominay - Fred

    B.Fernandes - Eriksen - Rashford

    Weghorst

Subs: Butland, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia, Mainoo, Antony, Pellistri, Garnacho, Elanga

Score Prediction: Arsenal 2-2 Manchester United (trying to be optimistic but expecting a defeat)

*insert Max and Paddy "we're gunna get bummed" gif*

I think without Casemiro in midfield we'll be easily overrun and we looked very tired in our last match so I'm expecting this one to be painful.

It wouldn't surprise me if Martinez plays DM as a one off. If Shaw hadn't shown himself as a capable LCB it wouldn't happen, but because he has it's an option.

As much as it would make sense I don't think it'll happen, trying it against Palace would have been the time to do it ensuring Casemiro was available, IMO ETH fecked this one up, he'll learn and not do it again though

Disagree. We had to play our best side against Palace and even then it wasn't good enough. This basically comes down to Martinez vs McTominay. Most likely the latter but I wouldn't be surprised otherwise.

He went with the strongest team available, which was the right thing to do.

And I disagree, we should have been able to beat Palace without Casemiro but pretty much everyone agrees we're unlikely to get anything out of Arsenal without him - it's all moot anyway because we didn't

With today's results, we can afford a defeat here now without denting our top 4 hopes. I'd still be disappointed to lose but without Casemiro, it's not looking great at the home of the league leaders.

What type of injury has Martial sustained this time? i suspect Weghorst will play as he offers a bit of unpredictability and decent with his back to goal. Only problem is he doesn’t have the pace of Martial when we counter.

It’s a sign of our progress under Erik that I’m completely looking forward to the game. Arsenal are in hot form, we’re missing our most influential player, much of the squad is running on steam, yet I still trust Erik to have a plan.

Reckon Fred will have one of those monster games. Has it in his locker and though he doesn’t show it often enough, tomorrow would be as good a time as any.

Arsenal 1 United 2. ETH is the man. We dropped points against Palace due to a wonder goal in stoppage time. We beat City, who scored two hat tricks against us the previous meeting. Casemiro is a beast, any team would miss him, but I’m not worried about Arsenal.

We dropped points to against Palace because we played shiite in the second half, not some wonder goals, that shouldn;t have mattered

Casa feels like our biggest miss in midfield since Keano was suspended for final in 1999. Problem is we haven't got the forward line to get us out of trouble now

We've got a decent backline at least, let's hope they bail us out.

Got a feeling he might go for Rashford through the middle with Bruno and Antony either side and Eriksen in the attacking midfield position.

Whether he fancies Mcfred or not is anyone's guess, he might even surprise everyone with a Martinez midfield spot.

I'd argue we haven't had a convincing performance away from home this season, so I'm pretty worried here.

Brentford (0-4) - Obviously awful, but early in the season.
Southampton (1-0) - Narrow win. Not a great performance.
Leicester (1-0) - Narrow win. Not a great performance.
    Man City (3-6) - Battered.
Everton (2-1) - Decent, but against one of the worst teams in the league.
Chelsea (1-1) - Arguably our best performance given the opposition. Still didn't win.
Aston Villa (1-3) - Really poor performance.
Fulham (2-1) - Late and narrow win.
Wolves (1-0) - Narrow win based on Rashford magic.
Crystal Palace (1-1) - Bad performance in the second half.

We have a 50% win record, and haven't beaten a side by more than one goal away from home. Hoping for the best tomorrow, but it will be a really tough game.
