I like the idea of pace up top if Rashford is out. I think Garnacho would be great up there

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Shaw
    Antony Casemiro Fred Bruno
    Sancho Garnacho
Just not sure Ten Hag will risk what I think would be a first time for Bruno out left against Trippier, at least from the start. Or Garnacho in the same spot.

Garnacho coming on to run at Trippier with 20 minutes to go just seems like a strong alternative than starting him, even if it means playing Weghorst.

Brutal game for Martial to be out for. The kind of thing where Ten Hag might be so annoyed he's thinking he wants not only a star #9 this summer but also a Weghorst replacement if we can get Thuram and just ship Martial out too, or a cheaper forward, of which I won't proffer a guess, who doesn't get hurt as much. There have to be some strikers watching thinking they could be starting a cup final even if they aren't a superstar.

I'll say this regarding this game - I expected a much bigger media love train around Newcastle, but Sky just seem to be focusing on United.

So many United interviews and so much noise around the job EtH is doing. It's frankly a bit disconcerting that a day before a final, everywhere you look there's a positive United article!

What is up with the media love in with Newcastle, you got news channels all fawning over Newcastle being in a cup final, have they forgot their owners are the same people that murdered a journalist

Can't see us losing this. We have too many big game players. We have a lot of momentum and are in better form than them. That said, i do think it will be a tight game. 2-1 i reckon.

So much good will and banging on about their lack of a trophy for the barcode underdogs.

Bruno on the left? Sancho and Garnacho up front? No thanks - not the game for experimenting.

I know it’s been this way for a while, but why do they insist on playing cup finals on fecking Sundays. Some of us like to celebrate/drown our sorrows after the game. Why not play it on a Saturday like they used to?

Don't know the general reasoning, but we played on Thursday, so it would not have been possible for this to be today anyway.

    Any news on rashford?
The team departs for Wembley today. If he’s in the travelling squad then we know he may play. In terms of whether he is deemed fit enough to start, we’ll need to wait till the teams are announced tomorrow.

I’d rather our fans are behind the team. The Barcode fans will be up for this.

Chris Sutton is predicting a win for Newcastle after extra time and penalties. What an idiot. Why even bother having this guy do the predictions if he can't retain at least some semblance of neutrality?
Tbh that’s not an odd prediction. Very possible scenario. They do have the best defence in the premier league, by some distance too. Conceded nearly half as many goals as us.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see it going to penalties at which point it’s anyone’s game.

Can't we hide Rashford until the teams arrived on matchday? keep them guessing.

With Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Antony, Sancho, Bruno, (hopefully) Rashford, I just dont see how we lose this. They will all collectively have to have stinkers and I just cant see it happening!

We had 2 thirds of the ball when we played them earlier on in the season and we only drew because Ronaldo was stinking up the place still. We'll hammer them tomorrow and we will hammer them when we go to their place.

I’m pretty nervous I must say.

It feels written for Newcastle to win it and the media are enjoying the underdog story..

I must admit I only really care about EPL and UCL when it comes to silverware. But it would be nice to win the Milk Cup or whatever they call it this year.

I was surprised to see that Newcastle only have one league win in 2023. That's poor. We really should be winning this, with or without Rashford.

Having added winning experience like Casemiro and Varane and warriors like Martinez and to an extent Antony in the team gives me so much more confidence going into a final.

The line up in the 2021 Europa Final was fairly uninspiring by comparison.

Far better opponents too in Ajax. In fact just going back and looking at that year's EL and we had finished 2nd in our group to Fenerbahce that year.

I’d love to win it admittedly. I won’t be too gutted if we happen to lose. They have been a very decent team this season.

Personally I predict if Newcastle do win tomorrow, it would have a negative effect on their league campaign for the rest of the season. I think the euphoria of winning a major trophy after so long will be too much for them and they haven’t got an elite manager or experienced trophy winning players in their ranks who can make them get up and move onto the next game.

When Birmingham and Swansea won the League Cup, they had a shit run of form for the rest of the season with Birmingham getting relegated and Swansea only picking up 2 wins from 11 for the rest of the season.

I know ye. 100% agree with that. Plus if people are travelling down there from Manchester then they’d be able to get back for work on Monday morning but if it’s on a Sunday then it’s gonna be late getting back especially if extra time is played.
