and yet , that's how Marcus started in the Youth team. Musa seems to have the same build at the same stage of his development. Im not saying that Musa will be as good as Marcus, but I can see obvious similarities. Musa seems pretty cool in front of goal. When Marcus was breaking through he was arguably third in the pecking order of strikers (behind Wilson and Will Keane) , so you can never predict how these kids will develop.
Musa is nothing like Rashford, he’s very slow for a start.

U21's starting in a few minutes, at home to Chelsea. Not on MUTV of course as, once again, scheduled at a time to clash with live PL game.

Team:

Vitek

Jurado
Aljofree
Hardley
B.Williams

Iqbal
Huddlestone

Mejia
Mainoo
Gore

Hugill

Subs: Mee, Kambwala, Murray, Berry, E. Williams.

Good to see Kambwala is fit for now.
Interested to see how Ethan Williams does at U21 level if he gets on.

EDIT: Lost 3-1. Sounds like it was a pretty even game and was 1-1 after 80 minutes but Chelsea scored two late goals to win.

I was just checking who the U18's play this weekend and they don't have a match listed on the fixtures or on MUTV.

Despite having some games in hand, their schedule looks pretty sparse for the next month. We played a few days ago (4th), next listed game is the 18th, and then a three week gap until the 8th April! After that, our fixture list looks like the first team with 7 games squashed into the remaining 25 days.

Anyone know why we couldn't fit any of that packed final 3 weeks into the very light schedule of the next month? I'm assuming it's to do with things like international breaks, maybe FA Youth Cup / Premier League Cup rounds, etc? Though I know we're out the Youth Cup to Stoke, and I seem to remember us losing and drawing games in the Premier League Cup group so I think we're out of that as well aren't we?

Ruud ftw
This coming weekend was originally earmarked for U18 PL Cup semi-finals - I'm guessing lots of the other teams who are out have rearranged postponed games for this week and we couldn't for some reason. Weekend of the 25th is a week off for everyone for internationals (big spell for U17/U19 Euro qualis) and first weekend in April we were originally meant to be at Everton but neither of us seem to have a game now - wonder if one or both is away at a tournament like the Dallas Cup or something.

Thanks for that.

I figured some would be due to the internationals and PL Cup. I wonder why the Everton game isn't taking place?

Interesting article. I didn’t realise how often we play teams like real and Barca in the really young age groups. Sounds like a regular occurrence.
We are easing the kids into a European Super League :)

:(

I guess I should have thought about that possibility, but I've only recently found out when I went to find out the team news.

Understandable but very frustrating given how few U21 games are televised nowadays. I'd been really looking forward to it.

Its some nice moves but goodness me the defending looks like United v. Liverpool.
The funny thing about that goal is that there were several Leeds players on social media saying their full-back 'pocketed' Lacey. Now that might have been the case at one point but if you concede THAT goal to him, anything else goes out the window.

A rare weekend where both the U18 and U21's are apparently live on MUTV.

Though the U21's are away at Man City, so might well be a game that I end up wishing I hadn't witnessed! The U18's are at home to Stoke - hopefully we'll get a little revenge for them ending our attempts to retain the FA Youth Cup earlier in the season.

Lots of very high profile players in that age group. Wasn't sure if it was all just social media hype but looks like they're quite good, even if it's still very early days of course.

While it seems to be a talented age group, you’re correct to point out the factor of social media. That and the coverage & exposure didn’t exist to this extent before so difficult to say.

But luckily we don’t have to make that judgement now but we can just wait and enjoy their journey. When they get to the U18s level we’ll see more of them.

Probably the most annoying thing about the coverage of young kids is the rush to make statements about whether they’ll ”make it”. Let the kids play.

Anyway there’s at least Rooney, Edson, JJ Gabriel & Tunde in that photo, I think. Silvester too?

Lovely to see (especially after the 21s debacle). United thorougjly deserved the victory. Of those you mention i think only JJ started. Others were on the bench with Rooney coming on to score.

The lad holding the trophy is Amir Ibragimov's younger brother Gazi, who is a CB. There's also two Spanish lads there - Camacho (who we signed from City last year) is to the right of JJ & Osuchukwu is the keeper back right.

That's what I was thinking as he looked like Amir but I know he's too old for this age group. They look exactly the same. Thanks for the info.

U15s beat Wigan 3-0 last night and are through to the Floodlit Cup North final. Not sure who they face but I do know Stoke are one of the other semi-finalists.

It looks like the tweet has been deleted mate, do you remember what it was about?
Yeah @jb8521 said:

”United u15s who are already through to the Albert Phelan Cup final have also qualified for the Floodlit cup final after a 3-0 win against Wigan last night.”

Not sure about the info now that he deleted it.

Yeah I made a mistake about the Albert Phelan part but they're through to the Floodlit Cup final after a 3-0 win against Wigan last night where apparently we were missing quite a few players particularly up front

We will face Stoke in the final after they beat Liverpool 4-2. They also beat City in the quarters so should be a tough game.

He's only just been appointed hasn't he? Must have a huge offer from Newcastle.
Not the same David Harrison, this one has been at the club since early 2017. The one that got just appointed "only" has admin role and doesn't have anything to do with recruitment.

He joined from Man City in 2016.

The other David Harrison joined from Everton a few months back and his role at the club involves being in charge of the operations side where he oversees the security, ticketing, travel etc for the teams.
