Well?

Man City are a doped up plastic club with no history, and are going to get reamed in the football courts. Who cares if Man City wins?

Did you forget Keane vs Vieira, Fabregas vs Sir Alex, Keown et al against RvN and about a billion other incidents with that absolute bile of a club?

For all these reasons I want them to win it. They are a real club with real history and background vs us and others in the league, it's a fantastic story.

Mancunian Utd fans like me care because we know loads of City fans and they're our local rival.

It's really not difficult to understand.

They started following the club in the past 10-15 years. City as the main 'rival' is all they've known. Bless that lot.

Really? You need it explaining? Because people would rather Arsenal win the league than city rivals and alleged cheats Man City. Not sure if I can be clearer than that.

I just want good football and a quality title run in, with both sides dropping zero points, bar the game at the Etihad, and may the best team win.

We're still the only team to win 3 Premier League titles in a row. I hate both of them, but that's the only reason I'd choose them over City.

I don't really care though if I'm honest.

Bless you thinking the Vieira Vs Keane rivalry is still a thing. Much rather Arsenal win it than City.

Why don’t you explain how a United fan would want their only cross town rival to win another league title.

You also have no idea what will happen with the charges.

Daft thread.
Local rivals who would match our 3 in a row is a pretty obvious pair of reasons.

Having said that, Arsenal and their fans are such a hateful bunch in general. And in the south you might actually meet a few, whereas there's no City down here.

For some it will be because City are local rivals.

For others it will be because them being plastic cheats is reason to dislike them more than Arsenal, not a reason to want them to succeed. Especially given there's zero guarantee they will actually face due punishment for their cheating.

From any sort of neutral sporting perspective sports fans would typically want the cheats to lose. And in this case the cheats are your club's local rival. It's strange to frame supporting them to a title as the default position that doesn't need explaining.

Arsenal fans are super annoying, but equally if City keep racking up these titles at some point they're going to catch up with us. Call them plastic or whatever but titles are titles.

Give over. Who gives a shite if Arsenal win a league title. It hasn't been a serious rivalry in over a decade, mainly because we've both been pretty rubbish.

I can't begrudge them getting their acts together and winning a title, if they show the minerals to finish the job. Against a club like City that do not operate by the same rules as anybody else they will have very much deserved it, and I also struggle to see how they're the bad guys of the two.

Biggest rivals for me has always been City > Liverpool > everyone else, it’s those two games you look for first when the fixture list comes out.

It will be the same for Arsenal fans if you ask them who they would rather win the league if it was between United and Spurs.

Such crybabies and weirdo behaviour.
City are our 2nd biggest rivals whereas Arsenal are/were just a rival.
If City winning stuff is not important then why do you lot not cheer for them and want them to win a quad every season? Because that would stop all the proper clubs winning something.
Really don’t know how some of you manage to get out of bed or your house if you can’t even manage / face some online or office / friends banter.

I rather see City winning it than arsenal. I explained before how I don’t see City as true rivals (as a non local) but arsenal is to me.
I fully understand Mancunians to disagree though, it is completely natural

To be honest, just for the spectacle of the meltdown, and the tears from Piers, it'd be good value seeing City come back and win it.

Also Arsenal and Newcastle's brand of dark arts are fecking vile, faking injuries strategically and keeping the ball out of play for almost half the game. Way worse than the City/Pool way of constant fouling.

You’ve spelt it out. I’d rather real clubs win the league unless it’s Liverpool.

I'd rather see Arsenal than City... I started supporting United in the mid 80's...
In this scenario you're talking about wanting Liverpool to win. LIVERPOOL... which would also help them in their fight to get european action next season. There's a possibility they'll miss out and I'd love to see it happen!

For me, as far as rivalries it's:

Liverpool
Arsenal
Leeds/City

so I'd rather City win the title than Arsenal. I just don't care about City like that, though I don't want them to get the treble so I'm hoping they get knocked out of the CL at some point

Because Arsenal built their team with patience and diligence, something that gives hope to the rest of the league they can do the same. They don't really have any one souped up world class player, but they have a great team. I will always get behind that. Instead of literally cheating and having a team chock-full of world class top draw players kept on by ludicrous wages, and being able to field a second team almost just as good. And they are fecking City.

If I had no attachment to United I’d definitely want Arsenal to miss out on the title

Loathsome squad of players and fan base.

City could win the quadruple every year and it wouldn’t mean anything to anyone

yeah, that's make believe and a touch of bitterness from our fanbase. History won't remember City's circumstances in winning the treble or equaling Sir Alex's three premiership titles in a row, it will just record the achievement. To me it's INSANE that people would prefer City to win it.

Arsenal winning it would be a victory for football in the sense that they have done some good planning to get this far and with their commitment to a rebuild, they've invested in good young players, and they've stuck with their manager. They're also a historic big club even if I don't like them.

Besides Arsenal have never retained their title in the premier league and won't do so if they win it this season.

Because.... City.

And that that 3 in a row will be 4 in a row if you give them something actually go for historically next year. I don't really want Arsenal to win either, but Brighton have no chance.

One side of the coin is city 3 in a row. The other is Arsenal fans are insufferable, I grew up with them being bigger rivals and City winning just doesn’t mean anything due to their financial doping/actual cheating that will hopefully be proven in the PL case.

1. possible 3 in a row from City
2. possible treble for City

If City go out of CL vs Bayern, maybe just maybe I'll lean towards them in PL, though Pep would match Fergie's 3 titles in a row record.
