Is there many consistent goal scoring RW’s out there? I’m struggling. Antony and Sancho will come good and should be looking at at least 10 for a good season. You’re right you definitely need a striker. Your 20 goals behind the top 2, who knows how much better off you would be with that top CF.
Yes, you’re certainly right about that. I think ETH knows it too, and we’re sure to try to bring someone good in over the summer . With a top striker, I believe we’ll be a force.

It’s not a massive achievement to be better than Weghorst. I imagine Ten Hag would have gotten more out of Felix than Potter, but he just doesn’t seem right for this league. You just don’t get the time that Felix needs to work his magic.
Sure that’s true, I’ll give you that. I’m sure my nan could do better that Wout and she’s 6 feet under. Could see him being a decent rotational option for Real. Especially with how old their team is.

I might get beaten up for this statement, but he reminds me of St Maximin at Newcastle. Not necessarily in playing style, but he gives me the vibes of an entertainer that leaves a lot to be desired. Lots of nice dribbles and nutmegs here and there, but what else does he bring?

People will blame Simeone’s defensive structure for Felix flopping at Athletico, but that doesn't explain why a finished Suarez could muster a 20-league-goal campaign. Even the perennial fluffer of chances, Alvaro Morata, scored more goals than Felix when they played together.

Felix or Fellix just started to wonder whenever I hear commentators saying it

Middle of the pack player. Below average goalscorer. He struggled in La Liga, he was never coming up here and suddenly pulling up trees. I'm glad we didn't take him. The crazy money for his loan would have put a serious dent in our already limited budget for the summer. His best bet is to go back to Portugal or maybe Seria A.

I had the impression he was an unusually hardworking flair player and that was part of the reason Simeone bought him in? He seems completely disinterested here. If he’s always like that, it hardly seems like he has the skill to justify being carried by a top team.

I agree.

He's flashy and good in spells but very inconsistent and average end product. He's basically the player many rival fans deluded themselves into believing Hazard was.

His end product would worry me as a long term investment.

He is a good player but nowhere near the rumoured transfer fee.

Would all depend if we are actually signing Nkunku. Couldn’t imagine the need for both.

Who exactly is making these decisions at Chelsea? I mean, if they're bringing in a new manager, shouldn't he be the guy deciding if Felix is purchased on a permanent basis or not? Extremely odd if true & shows the club owners haven't learned from their mistakes and keep repeating it.

Felix has been exactly what I was expecting him to be, a tidy player with good technique but feck all end product.

Didn't want him when he first joined and while I've grown to like him a bit more as a player now that he's actually been at the club I still wouldn't want us to spunk £80-90M on him. If he were cheap and his wages weren't massive I'd probably take a gamble and see if he can improve his output once we get the rest of the team functioning a little better as a unit but he's not shown enough to break the bank for him and with Nkunku also coming in I'd pass on Felix if it were up to me.

Not 100% against signing him but mostly it would depend on how much funds the club have in the budget for other areas. A proper striker and a top midfielder to partner Enzo with should be the first priorities, and if there's still enough money left after those deals to also do something about Felix then maybe I could live with that. What I don't like is how Felix seems to be a priority signing and the club are trying to do a deal for him before even addressing the more pressing concerns.

The ones who are interviewing the managerial candidates are the ones making these decisions. I would think the question of whether they'd fancy Felix or not will have come up in the talks?

Chelsea haven't had a "manager" in charge of transfers for many, many years.

Actually no, they don’t need to include that in conversations. We aren’t appointing a football manager, we are appointing a head coach. Primary role is the same but they have less authority on signings and overall running of the club.

In January we targeted players specifically on the advice of Paul Winstanley. We also now have Laurence Stewart at the club who will work alongside Paul. On top of that we have Vivell in a global operations position. Those 3 will decide the signings. For the coach it’s simply going to be a welcomed gift or unwelcomed headache.

Potter had absolutely no say and neither will the next man.

Signing him when you already have Havertz and you’ve just signed Nkunku would be pretty funny. Where the feck do you fit them all? They all pretty much want to do the same things and aren’t complementary to each other at all

Operating this way, in the current scenario which Chelsea are in, is going to rule out a number of top tier managers who operate with "Give me control, I will set this right" (Guardiola, Klopp, Ten Hag) & restrict hiring to managers who think "Throw me any crap, I'll bring the best out of them & inspire them to victory" (Ole, Hodgson, Moyes, Dyche, Rodgers, Lampard - it's a big list).

We're not getting any of those three managers regardless of transfer control.

The people were looking at (Enrique, Nagelsman) are used to not being in control of transfers.

I'm personally not sure if signing Felix is the right move but regardless of signing him, I would sell Havertz asap. He might end up being a really good consistent player but I've accepted it won't ever be for us. We're coming to the end of his 3rd year now and all I've seen from him are brief flashes and purple patches. I'm also pretty sure he wouldn't sign an extension if one was put to him this summer, so my feeling is, unless we sell him, he will try to run is contract down and join Bayern as a free agent.

I'm leaning towards not signing Felix mostly because of what I know Atleti will demand for him and he simply isn't worth it. We'd be digging them out of a pretty big hole by allowing to them to recoup almost all of the fee they paid for him. I really enjoy watching him though.

He is the mesmerising result of a Morata - Dybala genetic experiment, which means he is pretty useless as a first violin for a top team.

I take it he’s been rubbish then?

Hopefully they sign him and waste more money. These guys are going to be like 90’s Inter Milan.

I wouldn't go that far, but there's a wide margin between rubbish and being worth £90M + top wages.

Felix is mostly doing all the right things in the build-up but just lacks the composure and decision making to be truly world class. Looking at our team's stats since Felix joined he's averaging a lot more shots per game than anyone else and also has really good dribbling stats but the end product is just not there and for the money it would require to sign him on a permanent he's just not been doing enough to justify it.

There's definitely a good player in him and he's still reasonably young enough that things could well end up clicking if he gets to play in a team and system that are best suited to his qualities but right now that's a gamble I personally wouldn't be comfortable making.

Yeah I’m joking to an extent. Lovely player to watch. I haven’t caught up with his performances at Chelsea but I agree.. for the price I would be expecting a lot more headlines than the red card he’s received so far.

Why do people talk like Nkunku is a done deal?

Always that felix was massively overhyped. Flopped in two leagues now, can't be a coincidence. Glad we didn't spend that money on him in January.
