If we end up - as is likely - not signing a centre back mid-season, I wonder if Tuanzebe can get back into contention. Who knows how the injuries have affected his ability, and he's still an inexperienced player with a lot to learn. But he's more mouldable than both Harry and Victor, a lot quicker.

The injuries are of course the main worry here, which have stunted his development over the last 3 years or so. I do hope he gets back to full fitness soon though and plays in those friendlies in December.

He's not good enough, nor reliable enough physically.

He'll rightfully be shipped out in the summer.

Unfortunately for him I think the injuries have interrupted his development, he now needs to give a club where he will get the chance to play as much as his body will handle

I'd rather we move away from injury prone centre backs. Jones, Bailly and Varane are already too many.

Such a shame how he’s career has gone, thought he was a sure thing when coming through the academy. Injuries seem to have stopped him becoming what he could have.

He was as good as an academy defender I’ve seen here in a very long time. Never translated that to senior football though. But he had everything at youth level, perhaps except great stature. He’s not the tallest centre half. His early spell at RB was good though, as were his few games in defensive midfield I felt.

Makes you wonder what might have been had he not picked up that injury in warm up against scousers couple of seasons back

Already 25 god damn, safe to say he won't make it at top league level.
He’s already made it. He’ll probably still get a lower PL or middling european side and he’s been on decent wages most likely. He’s realistically never going to become a top player but I could see him pulling a Pereira if he gets a manager lower down who’ll just play him and develop him.

Was just looking this up earlier. Came back from injury 3 weeks ago and was put on individual training. Haven't seen anything since except the Watford interest on a loan.

Didn't he resume light training with the group a couple of months back? He must have been injured again.

Crazy how injury prone he is. Especially when he's physically pretty incredible.

Feels like he has missed the last 4 years

Easily could have gotten 10 million and the rest for him a couple of seasons ago. He'll leave for free at the end of the season.

Good player, without injuries could be competing for a spot. Hope he finds fitness.

I mean he should have been shopped for 20m-ish after his loan at Villa, but after that, in our defence he’s barely been fit enough to sell. Last summer him, Williams and Jones all hid from the trap door by being injured all window, for example.

Agreed, hopefully this changes in the future and we do not keep academy grads for too long, I see Ten Hag started this already by sanctioning sales of ex-youth players like Garner, Levitt & Chong, and hopefully the likes of Tuanzebe & Williams are shifted soon too, they have no place in the squad since we are stacked in CB & FB positions.

We are really not good at selling our players.
That's because we give poor youngsters way too many chances. Should had sold him when we had the chance and included a buy back clause in case he made it.

But we never learn, same will happen with Henderson, Brandon Williams and Elanga. It's clear they dont have the talent to make it here yet we insist on keeping them.

The way we've handled some of these youth players and stalled their development is quite terrible. We've neither allowed them an opportunity to leave, nor playing time while here. If we're unsure of their if they'll make it, sell them by having a buy-back clause inserted. This will benefit both parties.

Not on the bench. Is he still injured but somehow made the loan?

Starting against Brighton in the FA Cup. Hope's he does well so he at least can sign for free with a decent team.

There is an article on football insider that sounds believable to me. Apparently, Tuanzebe currently earns £42K per week and is out of contract in the summer but United have a one year option. However, his salary would automatically jump to £62K per week if the option is taken up. So United either let him go for free or try to find a buyer willing to pay something close to £62K per week, otherwise he'll end up on loan for yet another year with United paying a big chunk of his salary. According to the article, United are paying a significant chunk of his salary while he is on loan at Stoke.

Tuanzebe has made 3 starts 1 sub appearance in the Championship for Stoke and he started the FA Cup game. He hasn't been in the squad for the 3 most recent matches so I assume he's injured. A google search didn't provide any useful info on this. I don't even know the nature of the injury that kept him out for the first half of the season.

Just let him go. Nobody will buy him if he's never fit anyway. He needs to rebuild his career somewhere far away from Manchester United.

How is this guy 25. Jesus.

Hard to think of Tuanzebe without thinking of Fosu-Mensah. They were the future, now Tuanzebe is the next Phil Jones, who ironically is STILL here as well.

We need to become a lot better and shipping fringe players.

Crazy how injury prone the two have been when you think how good athletically they are/were.

I feel like we always have a bunch of injury prone players we struggle to get fit or get rid of and other academy lads who just hang around barely getting games for years before ending up elsewhere too late.

How has Fosu-Mensah been for Bayern Leverkusen? Always thought there was a player in there, but bad luck with injuries seemed to hold him back.

Either unused sub or late sub for the vast majority of matches in every competition this season. 185 mins across all competitions. Injured for most of last season, 209 mins in total. 5 Bundesliga starts soon after joining in the winter transfer window 20/21, then cruciate ligament rupture kept him out for an extended spell.
