Out for the season, either way. At this stage we’re desperately hoping he’s back before next season.Hopefully. His reaction doesn't strike me as someone injuring his achilles (hurts like a motherfecker). We have to prey it's the foot or some other small tendon.
Its no longer a career threatening injury. It used to be 20 years ago but NFL players get them far more often (this includes cornerbacks which need to move in every direction like a CB), and it is no longer career threatening. Its just a longer recovery than a normal ACL tear.Achilles is career changer. And he will be long for most of next season. Absolutely devastating for him. And we will need even more money in the summer.
Lindelof - Maguire means we will now start leaking goals like a sieve.
ThisExpecting the worst, hope for the best
can that just go like that? I saw a guy do his Achilles other week and it was like that, almost confusion at first at what had happened!I wonder if it was his metatarsal? He grabbed his foot, not the back of his leg.
Very dramaticCan't see him playing again before 2024.
Javier Zanetti also ruptured his and was out for something like a year. It's a very bad injury.Found 2 cases of Achilles tendon ruptures on transfermarkt so far (European top league):
Loftus-Cheek missed 280 days (9 months) and 38 games for Chelsea.
Agustín Marchesín of Celta Vigo suffered a rupture on 3 Feb this year and is expected to be out until October.
Six months minimum if it’s torn.Very dramatic
He took a knock in the first halfWas Varane injured too? Can't understand his sub at half time if not for fitness issue.
I thought this. His foot gave way too. I’m hopeful as it will mean a much faster and simpler recovery.I wonder if it was his metatarsal? He grabbed his foot, not the back of his leg.
He did. Something happened in the foot.I wonder if it was his metatarsal? He grabbed his foot, not the back of his leg.
Missed "only" 189 days, according to transfermarkt.Javier Zanetti also ruptured his and was out for something like a year. It's a very bad injury.
It’s a real possibility. Most likely some times around DecemberVery dramatic
What?!?!No one wants to face the truth yet but an Achilles tear is very, very difficult to recover from, the mobility in your foot never comes back. Imagine having a foot that it's flexible in certain directions.
Some of the best up and coming players in recent years have had their careers effectively ended at this level due to this injury, Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Koscielny, John Walters and John Barnes.
I really hope Martinez's isn't that injury or if it is, it isn't severe otherwise he could be in massive trouble.
They are his argentine teammates. They probably love him more than we do tbh.Why did we let those two cnuts carry him off?
They're Argentina mates. Understandable. Why did we let those two cnuts carry him off?
Yeah it was the outside of his foot.I wonder if it was his metatarsal? He grabbed his foot, not the back of his leg.
Johnathan, sorryWhat?!?!
My memory fails me. Been a few years. And he was in his mid thirties, I think?Missed "only" 189 days, according to transfermarkt.
Yup. Then he grabbed the top of his foot. His hand never went anywhere near the back of his leg. When your Achilles goes it’s like being hit with an axe on the back of your leg. His reaction didn’t look like that at all.If you get to see the replay you'll definitely see pressure on the metatarsal just as he winced.
I thought the sameI wonder if it was his metatarsal? He grabbed his foot, not the back of his leg.
