Posters who seem awfully confident in Liverpool might.
Nah they are all talk for them there always the next game to worry about , you can be pretty certain even if we beat Brighton mid week they would still be here reminding us how we can still miss out on top 4 .

I’m even remotely worried. What table and fixture lists are some of you lot looking at.
yeah unlike previous years where I really didn't see the panic over whether we'd finish top 4 or not even I'm looking a little nervy right now

Newcastle aren't going anywhere and Liverpool are in their best form of the season while we're falling over the line with 2 tough away games coming up...:nervous:

Wait, but you are also thinking like me regarding this. You also said that Liverpool have a shot for top4
I just say don't be complacent, as people seem to be overlooking us scraping results out, and Liverpool building a big head of steam.
I;d be more nervous if there were 10 games left, but 6 games, is very much in our favour.

Although we did lose an 8 point lead v City with 6 games left under Fergie once!

That’s top 4 done pretty much. We are playing like shit but we are not shit enough to lose thrice and draw once in our last 6 for any below us to catch up.
Yeah. All we need to do to seal it is win our remaining home games, or win two and draw three of our remaining six games, and even that is assuming Liverpool win out (which they probably won't). So realistically, we have even more breathing room than that. It's done.

I don't think Poster actually meant that he is worried he missed not in the sentence .

It'll be difficult to lose top 4 from here. Although I can't lie, if we lose both of our next games away to Brighton and West Ham, I can't pretend my bum won't be squeaking. The team has shown it is extremely mentally fragile when push comes to shove.

Won 4 of the last 5 league games and only conceded 2 in that run.

How is that falling over the line?

Go on then lets have a bet, if Liverpool win every single one of their games left this season ill never post on the cafe again, if they don't, you never post again.

Deal?
No because unlike many in this thread I understand probability and don't talk in certainties. I've never said Liverpool will win all of their games, merely argued with those that say they 'definitely won't'.

If you check most of my posts in this thread it's all arguing against similar posts talking in certainties but getting abuse for it from clowns that are consistently wrong.

And that is what i am talking here. It is lets say 90% in our and 85% Newcastle's favour. No panic and shit.
But it is not completely over.

There was a game against City in that run which honestly made a huge difference .

The only question now is who finishes third and who finishes fourth (between United and Newcastle).

You can't ignore the results (or more specifically the performances) in the other competitions and act like they don't matter

Precisely, the most Liverpool can get is 71 which means a single draw leave them at 69. 2 wins and 1 draw get us to 70. Despite people bricking it, they let in 2 goals at home against Forest, was lucky to win against West Spam and wasn’t that long ago that they drew away to bloody Lampard’s Chelsea. If they win all their remaining games fair do’s but nothing this season from them have suggested that it will be the procession it’s being made out to be.

The critical game was throwing away 2 points v Everton. Everyone who went to that 4-4 came away shell shocked. Evra hit the post at 4-2 up. Fellaini was unplayable for them that day.

Then we lost to Wigan away.
Then we lost to City away with a horribly cowardly lineup, but it was one set piece Smalling couldn't stop Kompany that did it.

It's all scarred in the memory banks.

Think that one puts it to bed now. Ideally Spurs grab a couple but to lose it from here would be quite something.

So because we got beat in Spain that means we're falling over the line?

Because we won last week in the FA Cup. So I don't know why that would count as a bad result.

Performances wise I don't think anyone bar City is playing great week in and week out. Newcastle are in great form but got hammered by Villa recently, Brighton are great to watch but lost to Forest only a few days ago.

Liverpool had to rely on set pieces to scrape past Forest at home and only managed to beat West Ham just about. Lets not act like they're playing champagne football game in and game out.

We've thrown away two 2-0 leads in recent weeks, battered in Spain, 2nd best for large majority of the SF and generally not scoring enough goals meaning the games we are winning we're scrapping through

By all means have your head in the sand but we're showing no consistency despite your best arguments and selection of games are trying to suggest otherwise

I think we will be okay. You have to think that Wolves and Bournemouth will be safe so those games will have less riding on them for those two.
Final 3 fixtures look ok as like you said Bournemouth will likely be safe by then

The next 3 all look dodgy though especially the next 2

Liverpool in the last 5 league games have won 4 and drawn 1 and Utd in the last 5 league games have won 4 and drawn 1.

I'm not saying we're playing great, we look knackered. But It just seems needlessly negative to be worrying about it. I don't know how you can describe Wolves at home as a "dodgy" looking fixture for example.

Oh I remember that game against Everton that was real kick in the teeth but our wigan loss was before that.

And against City I don't think we actually even attempted to play that was one cowardly display .

Liverpool will be a point behind us if we lose to Brighton and they beat Fulham/Brentford at home. Not to be pessimistic but that could be the reality. Although we would of course still have two games in hand.

It's not needlessly negative to say I'm slightly nervy about the upcoming fixtures (and that's all I said originally)

As for Wolves look at our results against them over the last 5 years. They're a Cnut to play regardless of who's managing them

They will drop points against either Fulham or Brentford and Leicester would also take points off them .

In that case, why stop there? We could lose all of our games and finish below Spurs.
