When are people going to learn Weghorst is shit in the air, as he is in pretty much every other football aspect?

We better win today because this is squarely on the EtH if we have to play with 10 men from the start.
He doesn't even jump. Sorry Weghorst shouldn't be near our squad let alone first 11. It is unfathomable that a player who has shown so little as a forward keeps getting picked.

Can't believe we're back to Wout starting, thought ETH had wised up.

What’s ETH thinking?! Yes, Martial played on Thursday but that’s what the in-game editor is for just go in and press clear all injuries. Clearly the manager is out of his depth.

My faith in Ten Hag is getting shaken. His faith in Weghorst and the £87m for Antony is baffling. And it costs us.
Costs us what, we are top 4 and won the cup and in the fa cup final with that. His decisions have paid off, one way or another.

87m for Antony is overspend yes but he is a good player with big potential and we are better with him than without him. He's not a director of football, he's a coach. Judging him on what we spend is weird.

Antony has been getting better in the past few months and is probably a better RW option than Sancho right now so it isn't too surprising.

His continued use of Weghorst is strange though. I guess it shows the lack of depth upfront that we only have Wout and an injury prone and sometimes lazy Martial.

Would prefer if we went for Sabitzer as a false 9 though to be honest.

Won't surprise me if ETH wants to sign Weghorst for next season
There would be absolutely no excuse for doing so. If he wants to sign him, the club should block the transfer.

But I do hope that Ten Hag has more sense than this.

Our best team apart from Varane and Martinez imo.
Well perhaps in the circumstances but Martial is not fit. If he were, he is a much better option than Weghorst. Same for Garnacho, with Rashford moving across.

Garnacho to come rescue us from the bench, Rashford to go up top. Expect for awful first 60 minutes until the subs.

Exactly, he brings no useful qualities so we effectively play with 10 men, I'd stick Sabitzer there although that bench is woeful

If he signs him permanently, which his obsession with him is making me think he will, god help us...

He's been pretty adamant Martial needs to be managed. He just played almost 90 minutes on Thursday.
If managing his lack of goal scoring by benching him is what he meant, then I'm all for it. Weghorst, despite not being a goal threat, creates far more pressing and disruption in the final third, which is what allowed the likes of Rashford to go on his post WC goal scoring run.

Delighted Garnacho is back as well. Felt like he was a constant threat. Great to have back.

Weghorst, Sancho or Martial... He started Sancho vs Spurs and villa, martial vs Brighton twice, Weghorst now. It's neither here nor there. Sancho mentally is better at Old Trafford, don't trust him away to West Ham. Martial probably physically can't handle playing again, not that he's any good while playing anyway.

I'm sure Ten Hag is just hoping he can replace all 3 in the summer.

I’d agree with that tbh. But martial has had enough chances now.

Are you not aware United played a match on Thursday or do you think their fitness just regenerates like FIFA?

    Managed in the u21’s maybe

He’s fecking useless and would no doubt be starting today if he can actually contribute to the team

Well Shaw would be replacing malacia if Martinez was fit wouldn’t he. But I’m sick of watching martial do bugger all so yeah, I’d have Weghorst in there. If my striker isn’t going to score I’d at least like him to run.
Dalot is a better option than Malacia. If it's just about running I'd play an extra midfield than Weghorst and play Rashford in the number 9 position

Utd don’t have a better option than Anthony on the right but Weghorst starting is upsetting.
I wasn't suggesting Antony shouldn't be there. It is the cost. He isn't anywhere near an £87m player and was a symptom of our lack of recruitment planning. Look at Mitoma. £2.7m. Who is the better player? The problem is that our ability to fail to find value in the market hurts us because there is limited spend now due to FFP.

Malacia and Weghorst away at West Ham.... the feck is Erik thinking

Well, picking Weghorst to start anywhere in any situation is obviously terrible management.

Weghorst can't run, he just looks like he is running, but his running pace is slower than average premierleague player walking pace.

The alternatives are Sancho and Martial, who are both lazy cowards. At least Wout isn't that, even if he's shit.

Weghorst :wenger: being the best of a bad set of options is some indictment of recruitment

Hmm, not sure. Malacia has been really solid apart from that error against Sevilla. I’d rather see him there than play Dalot out of position anyway.

Weghorst will score today, mark my words:devil:

I was feeling good with this game until I saw Wout start. Well who knows, he might score a brace for us to win!

Ten Hag has given up on Martial and Sancho I think
My vague feeling is that he rates Martial but not his durability, but will want to sell Sancho and make Garnacho the #2 LW, who he rates highly.

Sabitizer scored twice in one game as an advanced forward. He looks far more of a threat than Weghorst ever has.

Exactly. I can’t stand all the crying about Weghorst on here. We play better as a team with WW.
Some people here really think EtH is an amateur that can’t properly judge what kind of striker he needs to start.
