Hard disagree here. I think our kits were consistently better under Nike.

Adidas gave us good home shirts in 16/17, 17/18, 19/20. 20/21 was decent. 15/16 and 21/22 were boring and generic, and 18/19 was a horror show.
On top of that, nearly every away and third shirt they've made us has either been generic, boring crap or cringeworthy. Our white shirt this season is the first time they've absolutely nailed an away or third kit for us.

Meanwhile Nike had us looking the sharpest team in the league many seasons. Basically the entire line from 06-09 was fantastic.10/11 and 11/12 had great kits all around as well.

With Adidas, when every season is gonna have the 3 stripes theme in one form or another it's hard to have it not feel copy/paste.
10/11 is easily my least favorite line of kits we’ve had. Whilst 15/16 and 21/22 were quite boring they were better than that, similar to 11/12 and 13/14. 09/10 was pretty weak though.

And Nike definitely copy/pastes their designs too.

Definitely agree on 06-09 though, especially 06/07 was a real highlight.

Nike kits of 2007-2009 were outstanding but other than that I wouldn't say they were consistently better and there were few misses as well, just like Adidas. Although Adidas havent produced anything like our kits from aforementioned 2007-2009 period, both home and away.

It blows my mind that other clubs get such clean beautiful kits. Madrid, Bayern, Arsenal.... Granted our White Away this year is mint. The home has grown on me but it's not 10/10. ugh

I've been mentally scarred by white away kits.

Is it just me or do United tend to do less well when there is black trim on the home kits instead of white?
Naturally, there is no logical reason for this but since we have black trim home kits I associate it with under achievement.
The first one we had was in 94 I think and we lost the league horribly in West Ham in that shirt. Then Arsenal's invincibles season coincided with us finishing a distant second in a home shirt where black was the secondary colour.
Let's not forget Moyes' one and only season saw us decked out in red shirts with black collars.
Mourinho's final season with us, which was super toxic saw us even abandon white shorts for black at home and we know what happened there.
Yeah but we also won Ruud's only league title in red and black. That one was special because it was the last one with the likes of Keane and Beckham.

Personally I prefer us in red and white but red and black seems to be the choice of the club nowadays.

Yeah you're absolutely right, there were some good times in red and black alright. One observation I have about United kits is I never remember us wearing red shorts, not even in an away kit.

Oh yeah I've never seen us in red shorts. White top and black shorts with red trimmings on both seem more United than red shorts to be fair.

As far as I'm aware we've only worn red shorts three times, all in 1957. We wore an all red kit in both European Cup semi final games against Real Madrid, and we wore all red in our last night league game before the first leg to try it out too.

We actually wore red socks in all the European games that season instead of black, but the Madrid tie was the only time we changed to red shorts too.

For the elephant in the room regarding United wearing an all red kit, all red wasn't synonymous with Liverpool at that stage. Partly because they were an second division team but more importantly because they didn't start wearing all red until 7 or 8 years after we'd done so.

We only ever wore red shorts twice in the European Cup semis in 1957, firstly as an experiment under the new floodlights. Wore red socks too. We did it before Liverpool did, but they adopted all red permanently 9 years later.

Edit: Basically what @JB7 said - I didn't read any further down the thread, sorry!

It’s amazing that these consistently horrible mock ups keep getting made as some kind of idealised fan image. The green and gold thing may be symbolic but it’s fecking awful to look at. I know it’s an oppo joke; but it genuinely is a Norwich kit, and literally no one says “you know what? Norwich have a good kit this season” No one.

Let it go as a kit concept. It was kinda done well once (and even then, largely for the nostalgia value)
Yup. It looks awful. People only like it because of some symbolic gesture. The colors just do not go well together at all

People who think the Glazers retaining a minority isn't so bad need to consider nothing like this can happen if they do. United still can't celebrate their history properly because the greedy cnuts will be offended. United will still be hampered in everything that they do

Good, it's a fecking horrible kit. You're all mental pretending it isn't.

People drooling over a fecking Norwich kit because of it's vague connection to our history is some weird top red shit. We had a chevron for much longer and everyone hated it when we tried a modern adaptation. And that still looked better than this corn & peas bullshit.

Yeah... it wasn't about that kit, and you missed the point. But have fun moaning at strangers on the internet.

Hard disagree. I think that mock-up kit looks fantastic. It would be a fan favorite.

You're just miserable and angry over nothing.

A question for those of you with vintage shirts - how do you wash them without the foam letters of the sponsors from coming off in the washing machine? Do you wash them by hand?
