Out of all the transfers over the years, the club sale and everything else, the Mason fecking Mount transfer is moving the fastest.

Are we still buying a central midfielder? what's going on, his position is the least we needed. This club is baffling at times

Oh boy, Southgate will never drop him now.

One of those players who works hard with a good engine. And that's a nice as I could say about him.

Erik is seeing something I’m not, but hey that’s why he’s the boss and I’m not. At least it’s getting wrapped up early for once.

Good upgrade on Eriksen whose legs seem to be finished since his injury in the winter.

I have a really good feeling about this one.

He was excellent last two seasons and only came off the boil this season. Which was to be expected given the complete shitshow that is Chelsea and his contract negotiations breaking down. A 24yo England international with bags of EPL and CL experience.

It seems I'm the only one who thinks this is a good signing.

We need someone else who can score and assist from midfield other than Bruno and he works hard out of possession as well.

for 50M will Mount be a better option than Madisson, or are they a completely different type of players? Alway believed Mount is a good player and has room to grow but not to play in Eriksen position maybe a little more forward
Madison doesn't have the pressing stats for Ten Haag.

There's no reason why it shouldn't. He's a major upgrade on Eriksen in basically every department besides long passing from deep areas, both on and off the ball. Many in this thread keep talking about how he's best used in advance positions - don't really think this is true at all, he's always been best as an 8 and when Potter tried to use him as a winger for god-knows what reason he struggled.

I still would probably argue that from our midfield, Kovacic would be the better fit in a starting XI but you probably could do with some HG players, Mount brings something different to the table that you don't really have in terms of ball-carrying, and he's generally much more tactically flexible in his versatility.

I don't think Mount is good enough to be the best player in any team (and if he is, that team probably isn't going particularly far), but he's undoubtedly a valuable player who contributes to winning consistently.

He's had some sort of bothersome hip injury that has limited him for basically the entire second half of the year. Not expected to be a long-term thing going forward though.
Pretty much how I feel about Mount. He'll be an improvement on Eriksen esp off the ball and against better teams. And a perfect fit if ETH decides to play two 8s. Would be pretty happy with the signing if we can get him for something around 50M.

Glazers out!
I love it when the Caf disapproves of a transfer, I’m putting a fiver on him getting a statue at New Trafford when he retires, I might roll it up into a double for him teaming up with boyhood friend Dec too.

After looking at his G/A numbers from last season (when he had a manager who actually knew how to utilise him), I'm excited by the prospect of a Casemiro-Mount-Bruno midfield. Should alleviate the goalscoring burden off Rashford and Bruno. Sign Kane as well and we'll be scoring goals for fun.

This sounds a certain deal can't see it not happening.

Think he will be good too right age and right position.

Welp, at least we're doing business early.

Hope the final fee ends up in the 40-50m region at least rather than the 60-70m Chelsea have been aiming for
Disappointing news, was hoping Arsenal or Liverpool would get him instead.

Yep, this midfield has a lot of goals and workrate in it:

Casemiro
Mount - Bruno

Mount Bruno Casemiro is a good solid midfield with Eriksen as back up. If we can get Rice / Caicedo we’ll be set

I think the biggest positive for me is that he is exactly the age profile we should be looking at. I am sick of us signing 28+ year olds. With regards to his position I would say that Eriksen has also played most of this season deeper than his usual position so players can adapt if they are willing to

Nah feck this, it’s why we need an actual structure so we don’t rely on a a manger that gets his head turned by every fecking footballer that played in the Dutch league. Making Mount a main signing for big wages it’s fecking idiotic

He adds more goals, more energy and ball carrying ability to the side, all of which we definitely lack at times. Still not sure entirely we can control a game with a Casemiro/Mount/Bruno midfield but he'll help in the games Eriksen struggles in.

Between he and Greenwood, we’ll become known as the Stone (Island) Masons

If we listened to the club we’d have signed Pau Torres instead of Martinez. Ten Hag got enough right last summer to have this fans backing, anyway.

Yes. Mount's previous excellent records and EtH's record of, at the very least, getting a player back to his best; are things that fill me with positivity on this signing. I hope we don't spend that much, though. 55m is a decent price on other windows, but with limited fund this time, that amount is taking a big chunk.

With absolutely zero ways of ball progression. KMJ and Frimpong are absolutely necessary now if we have any chance of build up play.
Mount is excellent on the half turn. He’ll progress the play well.

Last season he was statistically elite. This season Chelsea have been shocking so we could bag a bargain here.

Is it possible Ten Hag sees him as an alternative to de Jong? Good progressor of the ball, somewhat press resistent, although higher up the pitch where he can take those risks. We already have Bruno who likes to roam around, so I cannot imagine Ten Hag wants to utilise him only for his offensive contributions.

It’s clear ten Haag wants to go forward with the one defence minded two offence minded in his three man midfield. City have played it for years so I like that he’s doing it but you really need to get it right with your system all over the field or you get massively exposed as we have done numerous times this season. I don’t think enough has been done from the structural side for us to play this way and get closer to city.
He’ll do a better job defensively than Eriksen but he’s not exceptional at winning the ball back but we’ll see I guess.
