Ive watched quite a bit of him and would rather we go for potential. If it’s good enough for Madrid to sign camavinga, tchouameni, why shouldn’t we have an eye to the future?

we still have experience in Casemiro, Eriksen.
I think both Tchouameni and Camavinga showed much more than Kone ever did. I don't think Kone has been called up to France either?

He is an excellent ball carrier and dribbler, though. I'll give him that.

It was 60 few minutes ago

He is not even worth half that with one year left on his contract. We deserve everything we get if we pay more than 30m on this player with one year left on his contract.

The damming thin is we give Chelsea that 60m and they go and buy Caciedo for 80m.

I see Mount as a Eriksen replacement. This is strange to me because I think a midfielder who specialises in the first and second phases would be more beneficial.

Exactly. But his name is Mason Mount and plays for England and not Eduardo Aurelien Ngombélé from Angola/France so he is shit by default.
Literally no one cares that he’s English. If anything it’s a bonus that he’s homegrown. But paying a premium and huge wages for a player that we have to cross our fingers fits into our “system” coming off a crap season and only having one year left on his current deal is embarrassing business. And shit like this and slashing Elangas price to a paltry 10m adds up in the long run and is why we get lapped by clubs that are better run.

Pretty much, and then people will wonder why we didn’t go in for Caicedo as we watch Mount and Bruno play chaos ball and we struggle to ever control a game agaisnt top tier opposition

What an annoying evening. Had to endure that Roma - Sevilla crap and now we may be signing fecking Mason Mount.

Mason Mount likely, documented interest in Declan Rice and Harry Kane... Ratcliffe the favourite to buy the Football Club.. Not a great year so far for a certain segment of this support base.

Great - let’s fund another Chelsea spending spree by overpaying for their castoffs, just like we paid around £70 million for Matic and Mata combined whilst they made the smarter acquisitions in the form of Kanté and Kovacic.

Love this transfer, and Caf moaning about it makes it even better. Ten Hag will make him do great here, I have no doubt.

Don't like this move since I heavily preferred Caicedo or Rice but I don't know what ETH has in mind for him/the team next season. He earned my trust. The price absolutely sucks but at least we get another decent midfielder in. After years of horrible midfield combinations we are getting spoilt for choice even.

Bruno is going to have to play deeper for this to work.

Hope I’m wrong but really not seeing it.

I just would like is to go for potential future world beaters and I’d put him in that bracket. I think he has the attributes we lack in Eriksen for the big games.

It is a bonus, but a lot of fans don't think like that. I'm not 100% positive he'll be a success here, but I'd rather wait and see how he does before complaining. People just want a shiny new toy they've barely seen play and convince themselves he's the answer to our problems but it's a team game, as we could see with Liverpool and how they played sick football with a bunch of average footballers.

Not really got much to do with Ratcliffe if he's Ten Hag's number-one target. Kane is also a no-brainer and Rice is one of may options.

Casemiro-Mount-Bruno as a midfield three doesn't look particularly well balanced to me. We should be okay at the frenetic, high-tempo stuff, but there's not much in the way of control there. I think Casemiro plus either Mount or Bruno would be fine, but you'd ideally want the third midfielder to be someone with a good passing range who can dictate the tempo of the game a little more - I think that is something that has been missing at United this season and it wouldn't be solved by bringing in Mount.
But as established I think it's obviously ETH wants to play with two attacking 8's ala Bruno and Mount and one 6 ala Casemiro. I know where you are coming from but for all intents and purposes I believe this is how he is going to set us up permanently next season

I just hope that there's still a chance for us to get out of this deal. I can't shake the feeling he will be such awful business. Too much money will be paid for barely any value.

This must be a joke. Everytime I think the club has reached a turning point, they go and do something absolutely ridiculous. Mount for anything more than £30m with a year on his contract. £55m plus is a fecking disgrace. Clubs never winning another league title for at least another 10 years.

Possibly the least enthusiasm ever from fans for player bring signed for 60mill plus...

Personally even though I can't see it, there are lots of good 'football' people who rate him..

I really don't get this signing. Especially where he would play and why we would be spending such huge amounts for a player whos not spectacular at the end of his contract. We need a deeper playmaker or a player younger than casamiero. I've never rated Mount.

But the encouraging thing is that we may move on either fred or mctom for a fee. But I'm not seeing any strong links with any of our players leaving. Another encouraging thing is we're preparing our transfer business early. But this signing is not what I expected.

It's nothing to do with the fact that he's English. Rice and Kane are English and would improve us considerably and both are class players. Mount is just a bit underwhelming for me and I've actually never thought he played that well for England.

Maybe EtH can make this a great signing and I trust the manager. I just wonder the position where Mount will actually play and will he have enough quality and consistency.

Also, anything north of 50 million is concerning given our alleged transfer budget.

Liverpool played great football with “average footballers” because they allowed Michael Edwards and their transfer department to go and find undervalued players that fit Klopps way of playing. Basically the opposite of what we are doing.

Again, this isn’t a case of “shiny new toy”. It’s wanting the club to actually operate with a level of competence that we infuriatingly seem to lack. “Trusting the manager” with every signing is a great way to end up like Liverpool with Fabio Carvalho and Nunez for 120m because Klopp was enamored with both
