Yeah I've thought this too. Not sure what the training is like but his teams tail off. Roma looked feckedHis teams never look the most fit or athletic physically- i've noticed that since during the United days. Lots of his players get injured, the pressing isn't great, although the organisation can be superb.
Will be off for a new challenge in the summer. Wonder how Roma fans will feel about his legacy? Two European finals, one won (a huge deal for them), one lost but no progression in terms of league finishes I believe. Not sure what their budget/net spend has been.
If you look at Mourinho's general record in league seasons it really isn't that good for a long time. Still very dangerous in cups due to how he sets teams up in knockouts but thought for a while he should just take a nice retirement pot and manage a decent international team as he could certainly win a euros or World cup if he managed one of the major nations. They haven’t won in 7 in the league. Basically threw top 4 away with that and banked everything on this.
Yeah, like we did in 2017. Luckily we played v Ajax and not Sevilla back then. They haven’t won in 7 in the league. Basically threw top 4 away with that and banked everything on this.
Roma caused plenty of issues from set pieces really. No idea how Tammy didn't score from that scramble in second half and on another night that Smalling header could've looped in.Love how short people’s memories are, as if Sevilla didn’t also completely sh1thouse their games against us. As someone else posted above, Roma had the higher XG in extra time.
They played a CL SF with Di Francesco just five short years ago....I know people hate him but he has done a brilliant job at Roma.
He brought a club with no lore or European pedigree to two straight European finals winning one and nearly winning the other.
This with a side inept of quality and plagued by injuries this season.
When I saw the players who stepped up for the penalties I knew it was done.
is he past his best? Yes I think so
Is he good enough to coach a top team again? Idk but my head says no
However his aroma tenure has been a success.
I think the standards with Jose have now dropped to an extent where you can probably consider what he is doing now as "success".They played a CL SF with Di Francesco just five short years ago....
Was that side that much better than now? Alisson quality who was quickly snapped up but Fazio was linchpin of that defence that got destroyed by high line at Anfield and rest of side was similar quality to what they have now apart from Dzeko.
Also forgot they played that Europa SF with Man. United just two years back under Fonesca.
So main difference is with Mourinho they at least don't implode in SFs and can get to play finals but bit bemused by this sudden narrative Roma are complete minnows on european stage, they should always be in the mix for Quarters and odd SF if they're in either europa competition.
Ultimately their Serie A performance has been disappointing again when you add in Juventus points deduction.

How else is he supposed to divert attention away from his awful tactics and sending two center backs to take penalties while there were attackers on the pitch?Dunno why Jose is angry. I thought the ref was pretty flawless tonight.

Sevilla would be in pot 1 due to winning the Europa right? Reckon they might be the easiest pot 1 team in the Champions League next year?Well done Sevilla, good that they won Europa league.
Jose fan?Wow I'm surprised by the Mourinho hate in this thread.
I love it.
Just the 2 names you mentioned are huge. They went from one of the best gk in the world in Alisson, to one of the worst in Rui Patricio. Dzeko is not the best goalscorer around but he does score at least. Abraham and Belotti make Weghorst look average. And that's without getting into De Rossi-Naingolann in midfield vs old man Matic and Cristante. Dybala is the only player who lets them bridge the gap, and he barely came back from injury for this game and while he was fit they were winning comfortablyWas that side that much better than now? A lot on here think Jose is a decent manager and don’t hate him. It’s some of his deluded acolytes which people can’t stand.Wow I'm surprised by the Mourinho hate in this thread.

You know that Liverpool will get them in their group……oh shit, I forgot they’re not in it!Sevilla would be in pot 1 due to winning the Europa right? Reckon they might be the easiest pot 1 team in the Champions League next year?
Exacly. I can't stand Sevilla. they got a taste of their own shithousery yesterday a bit. Both teams are shit though and the match was an eyesore. The one thing I don't understand is why there wasn't a penalty called for a clear handball against Sevilla. For other way around it was correctly ruled out as the ball was played. But against Sevilla situation defenders hand was not near the body. Clearly the ball hit it. Some quick replays showed it but very quickly VAR room swept it under the carpet. Too much manipulation with VAR. Coaches should have a few challenges per game to force a referee to look at the incident more closely. Too bad as I wanted Roma to undeservedly win this game with exactly this kind of decision vs Sevilla. His football is an eye sore but I was hoping he'd beat Sevilla last night.
