Was that a choice of US and Canada not to have strong squads for both, or the European clubs only willing to release for one?

If the later, how come Mexico have similar squad for both? Are most of their current main players still based in Mexico, rather than spread amongst European clubs as the last generation were?
We had the Nations League finals a few weeks ago so the A-teams played there (the final was a USA-Can game with the USA winning)

That's right. That's what I meant in my post - how come Mexico (who were in the Nations League SF) have been able to pick strong squads for both, while Canada and US have gone with weaker squads here?

Was it just by choice, or are the European sides not prepared / obligated to release players for both? And, if so, how come Mexico have gone strong for both - are their key players domestically based rather than spread across European sides?

Mexico brought some of their normal euro guys:

Montes: Espanyol
Sanchex and Alvarez: Ajax
Gimenez: Feyenoord

plus, a large % of their core is Mexico based, so they are there as well. It's a much stronger team than the US or Canada brought.

Edit: For the US, Turner is the only guy, likely with Miles Robinson, who would make a 23 man roster for the US.

"warning shot fired" - I had to laugh at the commentary. It took until OT to get off a warning shot. Bet you're quaking in your boots @WI_Red

Yeah, that's what I figured. So it looks like they're 'benefitting' here for having a bit of a weaker generation of players who haven't been snapped up by European clubs like there previous few generations - and like USA and Canada's current group.

Which has allowed them to play their A team in both tournaments - and while that A squad isn't strong enough to beat USA's current A squad, it should be able to beat USA or Canada's B team.

It is actually something that I have had discussion about with my Mexican friends. They feel the problem is that their guys feel comfortable in Liga MX and do not want to leave, which is hurting the national team.

Yeah, good point. I seem to remember that being discussed years ago with some previous generations. But then there's been a decade or two when plenty of Mexican players have been moving to Europe. That seems to have slowed down for this generation - whether it's to do with them being more happy to stay, or not being as good and so not getting the stronger European clubs making the sam kind of offers for them I don't know.

On one hand, if we lose I do not need o worry about cutting a business dinner short on Wed for the semifinal and will likely close a really important deal. On the other hand, we beat Canada in a meaningless tournament. I am torn.

I know Busio has been in and around the squad for a while, but I've never seen as much of him until this tournament. He reminds me of Fred so far - busy player, gets forward well and gets himself into some good positions, but never seems to have much conviction / belief when it comes to shooting at goal.

Fred is Modric compared to Busio.

Ferreira is a moron for not taking the professional foul there. He avoided tripping him.

If Roldan is the answer, the question must be: "Who could we sub in who would be guaranteed to not help us win?"

Oh, yeah, didn't mean at the same level. Just meant what type of CM he is. Fred is obviously a better version of that type.
Oh, I know. I am just salty because I have a 5 am call with Germany in the morning and I am still up because of these feckers.

I'll call my doctor in the morning to get it checked out (and not worry about going bankrupt).
